This or That, Day 14
7So did you have fun yesterday? I sure did. And while there were definitely some opinions divided between Mulder and Scully, it seems the plurality got stuck on the fact that they are nothing individually without each other. You sentimental sods!
I couldn’t even get mad that the first vote was for Wonder Woman. Nor even that you proved that I could put up rock vs. stick and still she would find a way in.
I think they call this acceptance and it’s like the 5th stage of grief.
Not that I don’t enjoy a good mashup…
…but I’d like to get back to some clear choices (and yes, I know what’s coming)
You must have some opinions regarding America’s Pastime
So we’ll start with the basics:
AL
or NL

Baseball’s dumb as hell, but at least it’s not football.
So I’m gonna go with NL (Netherlands) over AL (Alabama).
@UncleVinny I’d take Alabama over the Netherlands any day. Both places are cold right now, but one of the two is cold ALL THE TIME.
@UncleVinny There are no major league pro sports teams in Alabama. The closest you get are the Montgomery Biscuits of the Southern League. They’re the Minor League Double-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
@Mehrocco_Mole @UncleVinny
Bacon!!!
@Mehrocco_Mole @UncleVinny This could explain why there are no major league sports - biscuits with butter and bacon.
@Limewater are you quite sure? I’ve been to the Netherlands a few times, and it can be pretty nice, weatherwise. Now, granted I grew up in Oregon, but I know a few things about sunny weather and rainy weather and…Alabama. Which I’ve only visited once, but that was enough.
@UncleVinny Yes, I’m sure. I checked climate reports before I posted. For July, average highs in the seventies, lows in the fifties.
That is WAY colder than even the northernmost parts of Alabama. If you have to wear a jacket in July, and you’re in the northern hemisphere, you live in a cold place.
And yes, Oregon is also cold. I spent one night in Medford, Oregon once. It was a very nice place. But it was cold even though it was August.
@Limewater I can’t argue with data! But…does Alabama have endless green fields full of cows?
you know someone will say Justice League and there it is …
@stolicat Yeah, kinda figured… And in record time, mind you.
@ybmuG thought it best it get it out of the way
@stolicat I’ve got your Justice League…
@tinamarie1974 even better than expected - i bow down …
@stolicat
@stolicat @tinamarie1974 Perhaps tomorrow will be different… At least it should take longer than 4 minutes.
@tinamarie1974 @ybmuG try Neville Chamberlain and Josef Stalin
@stolicat @ybmuG
@tinamarie1974 @ybmuG oh crap, forget that idea, I just googled that …
@stolicat @tinamarie1974 Does anyone else think it looks like the pitcher is pitching from the third base line?
@stolicat @tinamarie1974 You see what I’m up against here
@ybmuG
I told you to do your homework.
/giphy look before you leap
@Mehrocco_Mole It doesn’t matter. I even considered Gumby & Pokey and found this
And with the dedication of this group…nothing is safe
@Mehrocco_Mole @ybmuG
TWSS
@stolicat @tinamarie1974 Win!
@stolicat - - No no no -
Colonel Chestbridge
vs
McKenzie
@aetris @stolicat You lose
@Mehrocco_Mole @stolicat @tinamarie1974 And did anyone notice that WW is batting lefty?
@Mehrocco_Mole @stolicat @tinamarie1974
AND WW has at totally fucked up stance for batting!
Whichever league does not allow the DH.
No. Wait.
Whichever league does allow the DH.
Well. One of those leagues, anyway.
NFL Football!
National League. Because Wonder Woman clearly plays at the Senators stadium in DC, which are now the Washington Nationals, and in the NL (and current World Champions).
The scene below depicts Wonder Woman “hitting it out of the park”.
@mike808 well done
@mike808 @tinamarie1974 very good, staying completely on topic as well!
Let’s follow the logic in this selection. Detroit plays in the AL so therefore: AL wins.
I’ve often lived in areas with teams in both leagues - Chicago: Cubs/White Sox
San Francisco: Giants/A’s
So it’s usually whoever is having a good year - the one time the Giants and the A’s met in the world series (1989) it caused such psychic confusion around here we had a major earthquake
Braves
@miko1
A league of their own perhaps?
@Mehrocco_Mole @miko1 they used to. It’s been a long time since 1995
Finally, something I’m familiar with. I vote:
Because I grew up in MD. Not because I’m into sports. Because I’m not. Like, not at all.
@Gypsigirl213 Ditto!
@Gypsigirl213 @mehcuda67 I’m a former Baltimoron, not really into sports either, but go Os!
The last baseball game I went to I twisted my ankle. I had to wear a boot for a month and a half and go to physical therapy afterwards.
I don’t even really like baseball. I enjoyed playing it more as a kid.
A.L. Because of the DH rule.
N.L. Because of the DH rule.
Interleague games taking place in NL stadiums because of the DH rule.
I like to watch AL pitchers hit. But don’t want to see it all the time.
So overall…AL.
I agree wholeheartedly with the two guys pictured.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
NL because the 90’s kid in me likes the braves.
/giphy Atlanta Braves
@tnhillbillygal one of my favorite memories. I can remember the moment exactly…
And another Home Run for Wonder Woman!
That would be AL or Amazon League
@mehcuda67 looks like WW is a switch hitter.
@mehcuda67 @ybmuG Well you gotta wonder, given where she grew up…
