Peaceful usually and this year. Both holidays are low-key and this year there were/will be no face to face interactions. Some video chats, some plays to watch and concerts to hear. And this year I am retired.
@andyw Congratulations on your retirement! Woohoo! Hopefully next year (at some point) you’ll be able to celebrate with actual bodies/real live people, in person! What a concept, huh?
I know the survey is anonymous, but I still feel the need to qualify that when I voted “TOTAL PARTY WEEK”, I’m talking about a one-person party. Thanks casemates!
@spitfire6006006 WOW! You actually have the possibility to be called into a room full of people (socially distancing of course) for hours on end, potentially sequestered, and you’re frowning? That’s possibly more human contact than i’ve had ALL year! Lol
@spitfire6006006 Strange as it sounds I’d ALWAYS wanted to be on a jury. When my number came up and I finally got called to serve I had to decline. The timing was terrible as I was recovering from a accident in a spika body cast with 2 broken legs and a shattered hip. I’m still waiting for another chance. Bucket list needs to be checked! ✔
@Lynnerizer@spitfire6006006 I’ve always wanted Jury duty too! I’ve gotten the “request” at least 2 dozen times from county, state and federal (all 3!) but every single time, when I make the call, they say they don’t need me. I should have stuck with my guns and become the lawyer I wanted to be.
@Lynnerizer@spitfire6006006 Well move here. I have been called in 3 times. Each time we have to come to the court, sit around and then if they don’t need us that day they release us late morning. Rinse and repeat. All three times I was never picked to serve.
I’m really pissed I have to work all three days and deal with a bullshit legal issue I shouldn’t even be involved in. It was bad enough before that happened.
In 2020, the annual week-bookended-by-holidays has lost its uniqueness.
Lots of walks with the pooch, although wearing more layers to stay warm…no indoor social contacts (which is my plan until a vaccine jab or two loosens the shackles on us all).
Home based business. We don’t celebrate holidays or birthdays. Don’t visit with his family, who lives around the corner (his brother’s wife has issues and neither of us want to be around her).
Every day is just like the other one. Except Tuesday. That’s trash day.
the first one, except instead of gearing up for NYE (normally we’d be attending some kind of event) i’m just gearing up for the final season of the chilling adventures of sabrina. and i’m totally fine with that.
I’ve been on covid quarantine since the beginning of December and it SUCKS! I didn’t get sick. I miss my peeps at work! I’ve put on 15 pounds. My spouse always takes the last 2 weeks of the year off, too and when I’m home he only wants to sit around and do nothing but watch TV and nag me into sitting with him. So thankfully, quarantine ended Saturday and I get to go back to work! Yay! Maybe even overtime on the weekend as an operator so I can get some exercise finally, too! Yay!!!
Hoping the trend from last week continues and the combination of the holidays and our generous PTO policy means half the company is out of the office. We’re supposed to delay any changes until after the new year, so I’m essentially being paid to be here in case something breaks.
Very much missing planning for/attending NYE parties. They’re usually some of the better ones for adults. I bought a house this year and definitely would have been throwing my first one in several years.
Quiet week where everyone leaves me alone because they are recovering from all their self-inflicted stresses. Nice and peaceful.

@Lynnerizer Thanks! Yup, what a concept!

@Superllama7 I’m loving my “Cheer from over Here” reds!!
Very chill until I realize that the new year is almost here and I’m going to have to go back to work soon. (I’m still in the chill phase.)
The family (however few gathered this year) have all gone home and I am finally left alone with no work for the week. How could I get more chill?
Just another week in a year of indistinguishable weeks.
@ThunderChicken I thought it doesn’t start until blursday.
generally not bad, though this year I have jury duty this week
So far, no jurors needed tomorrow, hoping that trend continues

@Lynnerizer even when there isn’t a pandemic on, that all sounds awful to me

@Lynnerizer @spitfire6006006 I’m glad you are recovered; that sounds pretty horrendous.
Chill this week, then back to work for New Year’s…
Wait, that’s the same as always, but without the holidays.
Same as every other week since March… but colder.
I’m really pissed I have to work all three days and deal with a bullshit legal issue I shouldn’t even be involved in. It was bad enough before that happened.
@Fuzzalini I’m sorry, Fuzzball. That sucks
My old jobs have always shut down this week but now I am self employed at home so I’ll work. The rest of the household has to work too.
It’s just more of my usual chaos
Had some almost normal Christmas time with family, which was nice… but time consuming.
Still have a big bucket of critical work to do before the new year. Then there’s all the chores and other stuff…
The holidays help, but I could still really use a vacation.

@lisaviolet You must be excited for tomorrow!
@macromeh Yeah, trash day is a big deal around here.
@lisaviolet @macromeh This Wednesday is trash and recycling day, which is only every other week. Woohoo!
@lisaviolet @ThunderChicken Savor the moment!
@macromeh @ThunderChicken What’s really kind of funny (and I just now thought of this), New Year’s Eve is our anniversary. Thirty-five years.
Just another day. Except we’re gonna have ice cream. Yay!
@lisaviolet Trash day and your anniversary in the same week? Woohoo - Congratulations! I hope you enjoy your ice cream.

@AuntMean67 They made you quarantine for a month rather than 2 weeks?!? I hope they paid you for your time doing that.

Hubs got Covid so we just quarantine
Usually when I take vacation. Not this year.
My bday is this week. Still working though. But my sister gave me some yummy IPAs which are chilling in the fridge waiting to be enjoyed after work
