True dat!
It’s been 30 years working 7 on 7 off, so half the time it is fell in my work week the other half they didn’t. Now that I’m retired (at least marginally) every day is a holiday! Life is what you make of it.
I do my very best to have PTO to use for this week every year. I live in a tourist town so they show up in en masse this time of year for festivals and water front and all the locals are stuck with half hour+ increases to our commutes and getting anything done
We usually stay home bc traffic going anywhere this weekend is soooo bad in MI but we’re going up north at like 6:30 am tomorrow, trying to miss most traffic. Yesterday and today are horrible and tomorrow is going to be bad too but hopefully by leaving that early we’ll miss all the people that only only have to drive a short distance up their cottage. Some people in this area have lake houses (I wouldn’t call them cottages until you get more up north) only 20-40 mins away and then still have vacation homes up north. Wish I had that kinda money.
Today for me Is a mix of chaos and annoying. My nephew had no one to watch his daughter and obviously asked me. So I’m babysitting till 3:30. I still have up pack (thought I’d be able to with her but she wants my attention all the time). I have s couple of errands I still need to run and I just want to get up north. I need a vacation so bad. I need a real (out of state, nice pampering, long extended) vacation bad.
Holiday? What holiday? I have enough accumulated guilt-trip chores to last me through the end of next year. The best I can do is maybe throw some ribs on the grill this afternoon if it doesn’t start pouring down rain again. Oh, and I have emotional support chocolate-orange brownies in the oven right now. I might make chocolate-chili ones tomorrow. (None of these are made in a facility that contains coffee.)
The day before Friday.
Another day. And even if I were still working I would be working. Healthcare never stops
@Cerridwyn Yep, Same goes all the emergery services. But also remember IT services that are also 24/7/366

Carpe Diem
@Cerridwyn @chienfou So very true!
The same as any other Thursday.
The first day of the rest of your life.
The same as most every day, because I’m currently unemployed.
Even better taking it off, making for an even longer weekend.
Normal for me, as I’m off every Thursday and Friday night. Back to work Saturday night.
Honestly it’s a mix of chaos, loopiness, and slow-clock watching
Im considering a car nap at lunch
I’m retired… so everyday is Saturday!
@eddhernandez

@eddhernandez @macromeh Sadly I don’t have a wife.

@DocJRoberts
Where do you live? What kind of festivals?
