@poodlepaw Okay, I’ve heard of Lindsey Horan (Heaps), Megan Rapinoe, and Kristie Mewis, but I’ve never heard of Raschel Fleece. Did she play for us or agin’ us? And why did they nickname her Polyester? Is she wrinkle-free in her old age?
Ummm. I would expect for these to be sold as singles for $7.99 and maybe I buy 1. Forcing me to buy 3!?!? For $25!?!? Maybe $20 if it was for a good cause. Local children’s choir selling cheap blankets to earn enough to sing at Carnegie Hall. Ok, sure. I’ll buy them for $20 and use them in the dog crates……. But $25!?!? And your not kids!!! Your just their parents! Ick! You make me sick, capitalist pigs!
@alose@goldnectar@Kidsandliz where are you all buying blankets such that $24 is expensive for a blanket??? I bought a fleece throw earlier this year and IIRC it was $25 but didn’t have the cool NASA logo on it.
@xjoex You got a problem with Rapinoe? She strikes me as among the more likable of American sports figures. She’s certainly more worthy and likable than some of her more famous critics. And I while I can think of several reasons I appreciate her, can’t recall anything she’s ever done to deserve scorn.

I’m saying signs point to yes. Her wife might object. But would be welcome to join.
Edit: to clsrify we are talking about healthy snuggling for warmth and mutual comfort. None of that other stuff that may or may not happen if potentially unclothed people meet under the covers.
I’m a big fan of NASA (and other current and former national scientific efforts), but I’m not completely in love with the design and it seems silly to pay three times as much for it than for the blankets honoring our Women’s Soccer team. I don’t follow soccer closely (I do find myself increasingly preferring it to American football, and increasingly appreciating and wanting to support women’s teams in most sports; women’s collegiate basketball and the WNBA, for instance, are in some ways superior to the men’s games, and certainly grossly under appreciated), and I’m not a fan of the whole jingoistic American patriotism thing, but I particularly like Rapinoe and it almost seems misogynistic to pass up such relative bargain.
I can’t help thinking it was all a scheme on meh’s part—enticing me with the NASA blanket, knowing I probably wouldn’t have bought it for $24, but also knowing that this would set me up to almost feel compelled to buy the soccer blankets. Well played. I don’t mind. My eyes are open. But well played nevertheless.
Speaking of NASA, if you’re not already following and a fan of APOD, what the fuck is the matter with you?
If you liked it, but have been put off by its erstwhile clunky interface, know that it’s been revamped over the last few years and is now considerably slicker and easier to navigate.
In either case, check it out. Don’t be an asshole.
Finally, my second favorite Chrome extension (after Dashlane) is a startup widget called APOD by the Trav. It’s also been recently enhanced and is now better than ever. Indeed, you can see my review for it that I’ve updated over the years, if you want a quick rundown of some of the tweaks. The main thing is that it shows you and facilitates your perusal of the APsOD.

@Num1Zero It’s $24 ($8 each). And $150 over on Amazon
Not sure we are the capitalist pigs here
@Num1Zero @troy Not capitalist pigs but are assuming everyone has 3 wives - a soccer blanket for each?
I want the Nasa blanket, but only because I’m a dork so not for $24.
@goldnectar Are you me?
@alose @goldnectar I agree it is expensive but a NASA one would be nice. But not at that price.

Rapi…
No,
I’m not buying this crap…

To each their own, I suppose.

I’m trying to decide…
Reply hazy try again
/eightball Will sleeping under Megan Rapinoe be comforting during the coming ice age?
@phendrick I say yes, it will.

@mediocrebot @Michaelforman It pains me to admit it, but the bot nailed that request.

/giphy I see what you did there

24$ for a NASA blanket suckered me in. Yes it’s more expensive, but it does technically have more stars.

It appears that Travis has also written similar extensions for Firefox and Edge, so you can see the APOD efficiently on the inferior browsers too.
(Jokes. I especially don’t have a problem with Firefox, just as I have no problem with Android. Use what works for you. I like Chrome and Apple.)
