@Knightp I can’t imagine how some of those got through the courts. Olympic, olympian, “go for the gold” and “let the games begin” are part of standard speech, and can probably be traced pre-Olympic games. Ok, maybe not much prior use of “go for the gold,” unless there’s a quote from the California gold rush or the Spanish conquest or something.
To make matters worse, my wife insists on DVR’ing hours and hours of the broadcasts, then watches a few of them before losing interest. But she doesn’t delete them, so they sit there taking up way too much of the finite space on the hard drive. Usually after a few months, I go in and quietly clean them up and if she notices, she doesn’t comment.
Maybe it bothers me more than it should.
I love watching the Olympics and I watch more television those two weeks than in any other two week period between Olympiads. I honestly think the swim relays are some of the most exciting sporting events on television.
They keep trying to get people to watch by adding HD, 3D, 4K, etc. People just want to read the results.
What bothers me more than it should? The fact that the the Olympics board is so litigious with its branding. I mean, companies can’t even wish their favorite athlete luck. You can’t even use the term, ‘Team USA’ or ‘Olympic’.

@Knightp @mehcuda67 “Let the games begin” is off-limits? Poor Taylor Swift!
@Knightp Doesn’t the NFL do something similar with the Super Bowl?
