@PocketBrain It's the 2nd gen OG 2600. I also have about 50 cartridges. I had the first generation but it broke and my dad got it replaced. He used to go on business trips a lot and when he came back would always have a new Atari game for my sister and me. I used to play Enduro for HOURS.
@DaveInSoCalhttps://archive.org/details/atari_2600_library Unfortunately, a lot of Atari's own carts and some other third-party carts had to be pulled because copyright blah blah blah. But most Activision and Imagic games are there, along with plenty of others.
@DaveInSoCal My 2600 was the first thing I hooked up to my 55" 1080p TV 7 years ago. Wish I could find the photo of Empire Strikes Back in stunning HD.
Not that I play it much but I have a PS3 that I won from the daily SlickDeals contest. Funny anecdote about that one. I was at work with a patient on the table being imaged. While waiting for the scan to finish I checked my email. I opened the email from SD telling me I had won and let out a rather loud and surprised, "Oh my God." It took a moment before I realized how lucky I was that my patient's hearing sucked...
I still use my PS4 and PSVita constantly, and still frequently fire up the PS3, PS2, 3DS, and Wii.
My phone is nice, but the thing feels like it just came out of an oven if you play a game even 5 minutes on it, and the touch screen is a terrible interface. I might actually buy this controller though if I can determine it works for Android.
On second thought, I have an Xperia phone, so I can just use one of my 4 Dualshock 4's with it, so this thing is redundant. Meh.
My daughter bought a PS4 a few months ago, but it hasn't been used much. The PS3 gets the most use. The Wii is still hooked up, but hasn't been used in months.
I got a Wii U about a year ago. My son plays Lego Batman, and I play the Arkham games. Trying to get him to refer to his fists as "the hammers of justice". It's a work in progress.
I've had a 360 for...several years now, this past spring i bought an Xbox One. Then about a month or More ago, I on a whim, went to Taco bell For Lunch, Bought the Certain Box Meal, that had a code to txt in to try to win a PS4 Destiny Bundle. I Won. but i don't need/want another Console, so it's going to my Nephew for Christmas.(with my Sister's blessing, had she said no, i would have seriously considered putting it in a toys for tots bin)
Had the original b&w atari Pong. Then graduated to a 2600. Stopped playing games on the Commodore 64. Started working as a programmer and it was more fun than games.
@jsh139 Likewise! My first foray into coding, then I grew tired of BASIC and stepped into assembler on the C64. Still have quite a collection of C64s, though I accidentally blew out the video on several of them years back and haven't sorted it all out...
@brhfl That's cool. You went low-level. I went from BASIC on C64 to using World Builder on Mac Classics. Then onto Pascal on the Apple IIe. The rest is history. Humble roots!
@jsh139 Yeah, but can you say you went to an Atari computer camp like me? :) Two weeks at East Stroudsburg U playing with 800XL's. Those were the days. I originally went to IUP for Comp Sci but tired of it quickly and ran the other way. Basic, Cobol, Assembly... the nightmares.
@jsh139 It was great, though the friend I was supposed to go with couldn't go at the last second. I ended up in a dorm room by myself which was kind of cool at 13 years old. I became friends with a kid there named Faust Capobianco. The name always stuck with me since it was so unique. After a few years we fell out of touch. Stupid me... I had no idea at the time that Faust's family started and owned Majestic Athletic. Faust went on to become President of the company. Yep, should've stayed friends with that one...
Not that anyone has asked for the whole thing but here's my console history beginning with the most recent:
Playstation TV (Vita TV) - current
PS4 - current
XBox 360 - current
PS2
PS1
SNES
Yeah I'm kind of a Sony fanboy a bit. But as you can see, they lost me on the PS3. Just didn't feel like waiting around for it at the time. Now I wish I did.
Anyone here ever have a Magnavox Odyssey? Before the Commodore 64, before the Intellivision, our family got one of these. I don't remember much about it, because I was really young. But, I remember having a couple of games and it being pretty cool.
@jsh139 The one in your picture is the Odyssey², not the Odyssey, and I did (and do still!) own one of those. Neat features, limited software, and (while functional), looking at that membrane keyboard still gives me the shivers. Worse than an Atari 400. The original Odyssey was an interesting machine (which, sadly, I do not have in my collection of retrocomputers/consoles) - cartridges had no active components of their own, they were merely electronic patches between logic controllers and such on the console.
@jsh139 Matter of fact, yes. We did have the original Odyssey. My father was always the kind of guy that had to rush out and buy the newest fads. I distinctly remember getting the light guns to play the shooting games. I was always amazed how that worked.
@jsh139 My uncle had an Odyssey² and occasionally let me play it with him. He got it from someone else in the family who worked for Magnavox at the time. It was definitely worse than Atari but it was cool to me when I was about 8 years old.
In addition to the consoles I have, I also have a Retrode 2, which lets you treat any Genesis/SNES cartridge as a USB drive and use your favorite emulator with the real cartridge, and even usually save & load from the cartridge. With adapters, other consoles were supported.
A lot of the vintage consoles mentioned here are playable at https://archive.org/details/consolelivingroom, although many of them (like the VCS) have to omit cartridges because of grumpy copyright owners. (Yeah, people who bought the right to call themselves Atari, god forbid anyone play Sky Diver without buying a console.)
We had an Intellivision back in the early 80's. I can't recall any of the games because us adults mainly played the Horse Race game. It was great for parties. Looking at YouTube at one of the races now, it seems kind of lame. But give me a few drinks and........
@Teripie Intellivision had a much better port of Burgertime than the 2600 did, that's mostly what I used it for. Oh, and the AD&D games were enjoyable. Your memory of Horse Race reminds me of my memory of Dragster on the 2600 (Activision's first title)... Such fond memories, and now I just think... huh.
@Miewmu That's what I said. I have an early PS3, the one with PS/PS2 compatibility. Too bad Sony "upgraded" the firmware to take away "Other OS" functionality. I had Ubuntu installed. Not sure i can trust Sony to not break things intentionally after that.
For mae it was the Nintendo Wii and I only played it a handful of times.
My 2600 is in the garage waiting to regain it's former glory. River Raid!
@DaveInSoCal Pitfall damnit! Dun dun dunnn...
@Cinoclav - Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.
@DaveInSoCal emulators or flashback console. The older flashback has a header you can solder the original cartridge slot onto.

I got the WiiU in April.
I loved my Commodore 64. With the Fast Load cartridge installed that thing would boot up those 5 1/4" floppy discs like you wouldn't believe.
@jsh139 i had a Vic 20
@jsh139 I lived for my C64. Miner 2049er rocked. And my life on BBS's...
@jsh139 My kids loved it. I even managed to set it up myself.
@Cinoclav We played Jumpman and Archon until our fingers were raw.
@jsh139 Jumpman and Miner 2049er were pretty similar. I was also hooked on King's Bounty for a looong time.

My 360 crapped out a few years ago and I tossed it. Haven't felt the need to replace it.

I can count my game consoles on two fingerless hands: Atari 2600, PlayStation 2.
@SSteve Seems unlikely you'd be able to play many games in that state.
@dave I could probably work the 2600: one stump for the joystick and one for the button.
@SSteve Way to be positive! I assume the name is short for "Stumpy Steve"?
No handheld love? What a bummer, meh. I can't even show my 3DS pride - there are literally DOZENS of us!
PCMASTERRACE
Does it count if I have an Xbox 360 but use it almost exclusively as a Netflix/Hulu device?
I still use my PS4 and PSVita constantly, and still frequently fire up the PS3, PS2, 3DS, and Wii.
My phone is nice, but the thing feels like it just came out of an oven if you play a game even 5 minutes on it, and the touch screen is a terrible interface. I might actually buy this controller though if I can determine it works for Android.

I have a PC so I don't need some underpowered console. It may be nearly five years old, but it still beats the xbone and ps4 easily.
I got a Wii U about a year ago. My son plays Lego Batman, and I play the Arkham games. Trying to get him to refer to his fists as "the hammers of justice". It's a work in progress.

I have an Xbox One. When I get my screening room set up, I'll play it more.
@BillLehecka I have an AHHHHHtari. When I get my screaming room set up, I'll play it more.
Had the original b&w atari Pong. Then graduated to a 2600. Stopped playing games on the Commodore 64. Started working as a programmer and it was more fun than games.
@olperfesser Programming in BASIC on my C64 got me into software development.

@Cinoclav Damn! That's cool. A few of my friends that were into coding lost interest as well. I'm the lone wolf of my clan.

@jsh139 @brhfl Quite the timing... Thanks Mr. Baer for having such foresight. http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/ralph-h-baer-a-father-of-video-gaming-dies-at-92/2014/12/07/a24c8964-7e6e-11e4-8882-03cf08410beb_story.html
@Cinoclav Freaky!
I kind of have a stack of Xbox Ones that I'll get to someday. cough
The most recent console I actually hooked up was a Wii. I unhooked it after losing 75 pounds with Wii Fit.
In addition to the consoles I have, I also have a Retrode 2, which lets you treat any Genesis/SNES cartridge as a USB drive and use your favorite emulator with the real cartridge, and even usually save & load from the cartridge.

No 3DS on the list?
@hart What about 3DO?
@PocketBrain I had a Sega Master System. Close enough?

@brhfl Oh, sooo many blown engines...
I build PCs for most gaming and just get Nintendo consoles for the living room. I am hoping Santa brings me a Wii U this year!
PS4 MEH-

The first game console I ever played:
Here's a great website for game console info: http://www.davesclassicarcade.com/consoles.html
Not a console, but I did have one of these. I sold it a while ago. It had MK, MKII, UMK3, and Killer Instinct boards in it.
@jsh139 Damn- so awesome- I've always wanted to own an arcade machine.
