@WilhelmScreamer Trivia: Almost all Hanna-Barbera characters have a collar/tie even though they don't wear shirts. This allows them to re-use partial animation cels and it isn't noticeable in the case the color of the body and head don't match up perfectly.
@Alien I have to thank you. I remember Bob Clampett's name from some of the Blue Ribbon cartoons, but couldn't remember which were which were so I googled, and down the rabbit hole I went. http://looneytunes.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_Bob_Clampett_cartoons has a list of cartoons I've never seen before (and I've watched a LOT of classic cartoons over the years)! Like this one, "Bacall To Arms."
It really depends on what you're looking for. You want beautiful scenery and wide shots? Go with Studio Ghibli. You want great character design and facial expressions? Go with Pixar. You want great full-body acting? Go with Dinsey or older WB stuff. You want an enthralling story or quality fight scenes? You'll have to cherry pick those from everywhere worth mentioning.
It was very difficult to choose. I went with Pixar because they have both the audience recognition and a batting average that any studio would kill for. But very strong cases can be made for Disney, Nick Park and Miyazaki (I haven't seen all the Studio Ghibli films yet, though I'm rectifying that situation).
I loved the old Looney Tunes cartoons (Road Runner and Coyote especially) but consider them to be a different breed since they are cartoon shorts and not full length animated features.
CHUCK. JONES.
Adam Reed (Archer)
@Kyser_Soze Seconded, except for season 5.
Hanna-Barbera!
"Boo boo boo booo!! I've got a pick-a-nick-a basket for yoooou!"
@curtise they cut corners like they were working in a circle factory

Cannot choose just one. Want to add Bob Clampett and John Kricfalusi.

Missed the edit window. Serves me right for posting before having enough coffee.
Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon?
The Brothers Chaps?
Ponsonby Britt (pen name for Jay Ward and Bill Scott) from Rocky and Bullwinkle fame.
Don Hertzfeldt
Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli and it isn't even close.
@thewynner Major props to a number of the Japanese studios. They can do amazing work.
@duodec very much this. I haven't kept up with much anime lately, but I was always amazed at the work from the 80/90s before the big CG movement.
Can't believe nobody's voted for Nick Park--it was a tossup between him and Groening, and I only picked Matt because I didn't think many knew him.
@fultonmartin i probably would have for Wallace and Gromit, but that pirate movie made me lose a little faith in him
@capguncowboy Missed that one--er, I mean I didn't see it. No loss, I guess.
@fultonmartin I went with Groening for Futurama, because that's my favorite show. I'm always astonished how few people know Wallace & Gromit, though.
Tex Avery
Tip of the hat to pioneer Winsor McCay.

Ren and Stimpy

@wew That Would Be John Kricfalusi, whom @Alien mentioned above. but God Yes, loved that show.
I voted for Nick Park (you philistines), but would also like to throw Bill Plympton's name out there.
Mike Judge
Joe Ruby and Ken Spears.
