@katbyter I think it may have said “The centerpiece of a good Christmas feast” which was a poll question from a few days ago, but this time it asked for a yes/no answer, which made no sense.
New hand mixer. Now I can make ice cream again. But maybe I should have asked Santa for a new microwave. Mine is possessed. It only runs when the door is open. Yes open. I’m pretty sure it’s violating some safety protocol somewhere. I have a video but it won’t let me upload it.
I haven’t seen them yet, but I’m assured there is a set of beginners blacksmithing tongs on the way.
The timing should be perfect as I plan on finishing my forge on Sunday. By my weekend (which starts on Thursday this week), I should be playing the “heat, beat, repeat” game.
@un4gvn1 I helped my son build a charcoal forge out of an old gas grill and a vacuum cleaner back when he was a teenager. We did a brief test run and it seemed to work (more or less - what do I know?), but he lost interest before he actually used it to forge anything, so his dream of crafting his own Excalibur was not to be. Probably for the best.
@macromeh More budding blacksmiths fall by the wayside than actually get proficient. My plan is to start small, the first thing I make will be “noise”. Followed eventually by decorative items, gifts and smalls (drawer pulls, coat hooks, etc).
I may eventually get good enough to attempt bladesmithing, but that’s really a craft all it’s own.
I had a video chat with family living all over the USA and it was AWESOME! I hadn’t seen some of them in years! Dad’s stuck in Florida, me in the hospital, moms home quarentening alone (after just being exposed to the virus ) and it was STILL a great Christmas with LOTS OF LOVE and memories made. In these crazy days of 2020/Covid WHO could ask for more than THAT!!
@Lynnerizer If you’re in hospital because you’re sick, sorry and prayers. If you’re a medical worker, thank you for continuing to work through this covid crisis. I know several nurses who have quit.
I got a DJI Mavic Mini 2 with the flymore package and the super important, “I tried to teach my drone to swim (and failed) or the I flew my drone into a wall at 25kph (successfully)” insurance replacement bundle. My wife totally rocks!
my partner and my parents (the only people who buy gifts for me anymore - which is perfect) always get me great gifts, and i was most happy this year in particular that i was able to return the favor. (i always get nice stuff for them but this year i was able to track down some hard to find, sentimental stuff thanks to the kindness of strangers!)
the best thing i received this year was probably my bearaby weighted blanket from my partner. i never ask for expensive things like that, but this is something i researched and have wanted for awhile now. i have hardly come out from under it since i opened it!
We face timed with my Mom in Florida while we were opening presents. Toasted her with cocoa and peppermints. It was nice. She even got to see the Michigan snow and still stay warm!
Like most years, my honest reaction when reflecting over the gifts I received is a) I appreciate the sentiment, but what a waste of money, I’m not going to use any of this stuff and b) I wonder if I am as horrible at picking out gifts for other people as they are at picking them out for me
My BEEKMAN 1802 VARIETY BOX of pure goat milk lotions, soaps and face wipes. Its THE BEST stuff on earth for my crazy dry skin! I’m allergic to everything and they are unscented. They sell a bunch of scented ones but I like the Pure Goat Milk. I cannot stop using the lotion stick! Woohoo
Nippon moriage satsuma dragon tea set, 15 pound weighted blanket, and all 10 of us siblings plus mom and dad, and a few of the nieces/nephews in a very loud and confusing zoom chat. The best presents, though, were not only the calls I got from my boys, but the fact that they called all of their grandparents, too.
@sammydog01 I hope this works. I haven’t figured out how to post pics and gifs here yet. Unfortunately, not cups came with it. Searched online and can’t even get one.
Huh?
@awk It’s a yes/no question. What’s not to get?
@awk @DoctorOW, the question changed. Originally it said “The centerpiece of Christmas.”
Yes or no didn’t make sense.
I think someone has been into the adult eggnog.
@yakkoTDI I know I was.
The centerpiece of a good Christmas feast is a really good maybe.
What kind of question is that?
Can I delete my post now that the question changed.
Can I change my answer now that the question changed?
@heartny what did it say before?
@katbyter I think it may have said “The centerpiece of a good Christmas feast” which was a poll question from a few days ago, but this time it asked for a yes/no answer, which made no sense.
@katbyter, I don’t think it even said “feast.” I think it ended at Christmas.
@katbyter That’s entirely possible. I have a very short memory.

@katbyter I’m a little hazy on the whole good/bad thing, but I think that might be bad.
@katbyter make a fake account on youtube, upload the video there and url it here.
@katbyter
The microwave won’t let you upload the video?
@DVDBZN @katbyter Not unless the door is open from what I understand. Lol…
@DVDBZN @katbyter @Lynnerizer In that case it really is possessed.

@un4gvn1 Very cool! Time to go to yard sales and buy up old worn out files. I think springs from a junkyard are good for making stuff too.
@tweezak @un4gvn1 made me think of this Homestead Rescue I watched yesterday

/giphy carpet cleaner
@tinamarie1974 I have one of those - it’s a nice little machine!
@Kyeh my parents have one that I have borrowed a few times. I decided to ask for one of my own to save me the drive back and forth to treat a spot.
@tinamarie1974 I want both of those!
I got the day off.
Nice goatskin work gloves, folding camp saw w/ Japanese cutting blade, set of 3 vintage hand tools, & gift card to DiscStore.
/giphy Ultimate Frisbee
@compunaut I feel like that when I try to play frisbee.
A book of potty jokes, for my alone time.
I got a Benchmade Grizzly Creek knife. Much more than I deserve.

@Lynnerizer loved ones are the most important thing. It is fantastic ypu have a great group of loved ones.
@Lynnerizer If you’re in hospital because you’re sick, sorry and prayers. If you’re a medical worker, thank you for continuing to work through this covid crisis. I know several nurses who have quit.
@CaptAmehrican Oh Yes, Yes! I couldn’t agree more! I’m extremely blessed and super grateful!

@paulskrtic Nice!
I got a functioning air fryer from an IRK that arrived earlier than expected.

Still waiting on two packages. On top of that, our fridge died the week before and the parts are backordered until ?
We face timed with my Mom in Florida while we were opening presents. Toasted her with cocoa and peppermints. It was nice. She even got to see the Michigan snow and still stay warm!
I got a cookbook I’ve been wanting for a couple of years now, but never bothered to break down and buy for myself.
@jitc What’cha cookin’?
@katbyter
@jitc @katbyter Ooh… I bet that has some delicious recipes.
@katbyter @ThunderChicken it is really an enormous compendium and I’m really looking forward to reading and making use of it.
@jitc @katbyter @ThunderChicken I hope you post pictures of the resulting feasts!
@jitc Invite us over for dinner after covid! Sounds good

@cristysue Where do you find pure goats?
@mehcuda67 I wouldn’t mention it except at Christmas, but there’s one in the Bible.
The Cheers from over here wine arrived for my family while we were together! And it was Good! And safely consumed out of doors and socially distanced.
@edsa Good stuff, I agree!

@AuntMean67 Could you post a photo of the tea set?
@AuntMean67 @sammydog01 I’d love to see it too.

@AuntMean67 That set is absolutely beautiful!
I got parts for my old rusty car.
Soon, the installation…
I got an outhouse calendar with inspirational messages.
Got myself an Oculus Quest 2. Between Half Life: Alyx and Vader Immortal, I don’t need real life anymore.
@ACraigL Beat Sabre!!!
@AuntMean67 playing a ton of that. And Half Life Alyx. That shit is insane.
