@JT954 what in the world is “city ham”? I thought I was pretty well versed in breakfast-ese. But this “city ham” is completely new to me… Someone please enlighten me.

We have pancake houses but no Waffle House. In high school a friend and I wanted Waffle House so we drove south for hours (at like 10pm) till we found one, ate waffles and then drove back home. We didn’t go to school the next day, we were to tired.
There’s a place near here called Munch Munch that has some really interesting waffles. Cornbread waffles, four or five kinds of wheat blends, all manner of interesting things going on. Waffle sandwiches, chicken and waffles, some really creative and also some of the most delicious things I’ve ever put in my mouth. I’m not sure if proper French crepes might be better, or actual Belgian waffles, but short of international travel these are the best for quite a ways.

I’ve never been a fan of it but I visited Savannah for a month and decided to try it and it was so good. I got more of an upscale version (chicken tenders instead whatever they use, raspberry or strawberry maple syrup and a decadent waffle) I live in mi and I will never eat it here bc yes it looks and sounds disgusting.
Might sound crazy, but the waffles you cook yourself at a Hampton Inn hotel during their breakfast… I forget the brand of batter, but its one that’s specifically for hotels, etc…
@earl_danger I had long wondered if the US “Belgian” waffle was yet another absurd bit of nomenclature like our “french fries”. I’m almost surprised that there’s a valid equivalent. I have no idea how that could have happened.
We had an Original Pancake House here for a while and loved it, but it closed under somewhat strange circumstances (employees accused of sexually harassing another employee - not sure if that’s why they closed, though.)
It had every kind of pancakey waffley type thing imaginable.https://www.originalpancakehouse.com/
Kodiak Power Cakes add real Vanilla and a bunch of Cinnamon. Pour on a really hot and oiled waffle iron. Makes delicious crispy on the outside and soft in the middle waffles with added protein.
I don’t know where they come from but the best waffles are blue waffles.
N.B.: Do not Google this.
@werehatrack So of course I had to.
The ones that don’t have malt in it and are not made with the Belgian waffle Maker.
@Cerridwyn Just because Hans is Belgian doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy making waffles with him.
@Cerridwyn @yakkoTDI Hans makes really good waggles, it’s Pierre that you have to watch. He tends to go a little heavy on the cream liqueur topping.
@Cerridwyn @werehatrack Fresh, delicious waggles!!
@werehatrack @yakkoTDI
And served with apple butter

The sessions showing the politicians waffling on C-Span are pretty good.

Waffle House:
@JT954 With pecans, and scattered smothered, scrambled, bacon, wheat.

@JT954 Yes! We don’t have them where we live. We went to Arizona for a few days of spring training, and we only ate breakfast at Waffle House.
@JT954 my big question is …. Where is there NOT a Waffle House?
@JT954 @mycya4me The Northeast, for one.

@JT954 @mycya4me @Star2236 Definitely worth it. I just found ore that there’s one about an hour’s drive away, and I’m already plotting a visit.
@JT954 @mycya4me
Western US.
They aren’t present very often, but the best ones around here come from one of the waffle makers in the storage cabinet below the oven.
Hmmm.
I may need to make waffles in the morning.
The Belgian Waffles from the Continental Breakfast Buffet at any 4 - 5 star Motel / Hotel!!

Waffle House.
@PooltoyWolf Now as far west as Phoenix.
@bmf Still mad they cancelled the show.
Mom
Belgium
Served with live music

Made by venders on Paris streets rolled-up filling, like Nutella and strawberries (the French call them Crepes).
@hchavers Not the same! I love crepes, but they’re so different!
@hchavers @Kyeh Not even remotely the same, except that they’re both made from flour. Crêpes are sort of like very thin pancakes.
@ahacksaw @Kyeh Exactly
@ahacksaw @hchavers Ohhh, so you mean crepes > waffles, got it.
@hchavers @Kyeh No argument here.

@katbyter that is an excellent song by TLC
Best at hotels’ self-serve make-it-yourself Belgian waffle bars.

Definitely not from the “Chicken and” neighborhood…
@sicc574 I never understood that combo… it is strange!

Golden Malted is the brand!
The best waffles are pancakes with 100% maple syrup.
@kittykat9180
FIFY

@macromeh, I’m more basic when it comes to pancakes. But I’m definitely a maple snob.
@kittykat9180 @macromeh
Banana pancakes
@kittykat9180 I know a guy that harvests his own. I’ll specify maple syrup, because I know this crowd.
@blaineg, dang, I was ready to learn how to harvest pancakes.
/youtube teen titans go waffles
@Fuzzalini That show is genius
As a resident of Belgium I may be biased, but I the best waffles come from Belgium. Although there are actually two types of Belgian waffles:
@earl_danger
The liege ones sound very good.

@earl_danger @werehatrack
Yeah, they should really also be called Belgian fries! (My late husband spent his childhood in Belgium.)

The ones I ate when I lived in The Netherlands.
