@katbyter Ah, the Grandma Lamp. It’s like they appear spontaneously, the moment a grandchild is born. Kinda like the snow globes in the one Discworld story. Reaper man? I think that’s the one. Yeah, because the wizard who can’t die is in it. Good story. Great series. I think I’m primed for another read-through.
@simplersimon no grandchildren, but when my parents re-did the living & dining room my mom got a floor lamp version of one of those. honestly not sure what possessed her so it must be age related lol. i’ve always thought the “flowers” more resembled frank of donnie darko.
I like lots of different styles of lamps. Depends on the room, and what kind of light you are looking for. I used to collect funky art lamps back in the 80s. That was fun.
I went to a museum in Orlando that has the largest collection of Tiffany glass in the world. The lamps were impressive but nothing compared to the stained glass doors and windows he did. My favorite lamp Is the Aladdin oil lamp.
@tweezak I have an Aladdin mantle lamp, but never had the opportunity to use it; power outages in the summer are not the time to light up a 1500BTU lamp! Also bought out two hardware stores’ last sets of mantles many years ago so probably have a lifetime supply…
@RiotDemon Yeah, the fire is uncomfortably realistic for those of us living in fire-prone states! They are beautiful, aren’t they? My friend says his is quite fragile so finding one would be a real stroke of luck.
Rented a cabin once I’m the middle of bumfuck nowhere by lake Superior. The heat, lamps, and fridge all ran on propane. I’d never seen propane lamps before, so that was pretty cool.

Whatever best fits the room’s aesthetic. Or whatever’s handy when you need it.

I like this one!
@PooltoyWolf
@duodec I own exactly one, and the previous owner removed the pot/burner and converted it to electric. I want to have more, but they are expensive!
Jinn. It would need to come with djinn proof wishes.

@tweezak The Morse Museum! I’ve been there a few times, it’s local to me! Very neat place.

Antique motion lamp. A friend of mine has one and I’m so envious.
@Kyeh wow. I’ve never seen those before!
So many options!
@RiotDemon Aren’t they cool? I don’t like the forest fire ones though…
@Kyeh I thought the fire was really well done. The lighthouse at 3:20 was pretty cool.
If I ever see one of these at a thrift store, I’ll have to grab it.

A lamp that is affixed to the ceiling such that it is controlled by a switch and doesn’t take up space in my room.

LED color changing lamp.
The one @moose designed.
Hope you’re doing well, guy.
