Caesar Romero is without a doubt the best…why? Because the studio filming the original series told him he had to shave off his trademark moustache. He told them no way or I will walk, take a look at the his pics from back then and see who won…
“The Dark Knight” was so, so insanely boring. Maybe Ledger was good, but the movie sucked big time. The ONLY good superhero movies are Burton Batman series. And I think Jack Nicholson is an amazing actor, so the choice was easy.
@huja Not saying Ledger was bad, not saying there weren’t sweet moments - Nolan is an awesome director otherwise after all. It’s just that the whole movie was directionless and didn’t know what to do with its characters, so the character’s potential wasn’t fully unleashed. It’s the problem of both Nolan Batman movies that I watched - they try to make a point (I don’t quite know which, but it is clearly preachy), but they do not lead to anything, getting sidetracked with sub-par side-plots half-way through. It’s too long, too predictable, too anti-climatic, too plain. All special effects and style, no real creative substance. Perhaps if the movie was better I would’ve appreciated it better. Alas, the way it is - the best movie Joker is Nicholson for me.
Jack Nicholson was awesome in the role, but just as there is but one Batman… (Kevin Conroy MADE the animated series and Justice League and associated movies Batman the definitive Batman… with only his voice), Mark Hamill made the Joker’s insanity believable and downright frightening, especially in the various animated movies.
@simplersimon There is a difference here. It is usually a choice between a douche and a turd, but this time it’s a choice between a rich unpredictable madman and a psychopathic mass murderer.
@evbarnstormer Perfection. He has it down. Heath Ledger had a compelling display of underlying madness, Jack Nicholson played it so understated, with the mania appearing in flashes but seemed a bit too predictable on when those appeared… But Hamill’s Joker is perfect. And scary as hell.
@duodec what’s especially weird is Hamill’s Joker from when I was a kid, then the Arkham games got a little darker, now this reprise in Killing Joke as the most screwed of version ever, all with the same voice
Heath Ledger was good, but it was the advantages of a well-written Joker. Just imagine him trying to say the lines Nicholson had to. Admittedly, I think he’d still have done better than Nicholson, but it was that sweet Nolan writing that made the Dark Knight Joker so good. Meanwhile, Hamill has taken absolutely awful Joker interpretations and still makes you love it. The man knows when to chew the scenery and when not to.
I think we need some time, honestly. Some things that look badass at the time, look pretty silly in retrospect. I don’t think Nicholson’s Joker holds up well, but then again it’s been more than a quarter century. Hamill’s Joker holds up pretty well. We’ll see on Ledger’s interpretation.
@krobb1290 too true. Of course, he did an excellent job of playing Hamill’s Joker. I am curious how he would be if he given a chance to make the character his own
The correct answer is Heath Ledger. Voice of Mark Hamill is also acceptable. If you vote for Jared Leto, you deserve to be forcibly sterilized.
@Dizavid
@Dizavid What if I voted for Angelface but I’ve already been sterilized?

@serpent Jack may have been the best movie Joker
@somf69 Hands down for me. I really like his acting style. Also, the movie was fun, not weirdo-preachy-but-missing-the-point like Nolan’s series.
@serpent C’mon. The opening heist sequence which introduces Ledger’s Joker was pretty damn sweet.

@serpent Those joker goons are the least threatening goons ever.
Romero. He was just so wonderfully unhinged.

My write-in vote is Trump.
@huja US presidential elections 2016 - Joker vs Two-Face.
@serpent - So you’re saying they’re both evil psychopaths, correct? Sounds about right to me.
@beavsco when was the last time that wasn’t right?
@serpent Spot-on. Would be funny if it were tragic.
@huja It is kinda both funny and tragic. Even funnier, that a lot of people actually realizes that, but can’t do anything to stop it.
@simplersimon There is a difference here. It is usually a choice between a douche and a turd, but this time it’s a choice between a rich unpredictable madman and a psychopathic mass murderer.
Can’t believe I’m going to pick this nerd fight but Heath Ledger is incorrect
@evbarnstormer Best Joker laugh by a mile, IMHO.

My vote is for Hamill but another really good, underrated version of The Joker is by Troy Baker in Batman: Arkham Origins.
