People talk a lot of shit about Robert Pattinson because of Twilight. I think they will come around.
I’m super excited about this movie.
I’ve watched a lot of the other movies he’s been in. He’s a good actor.
Good Time, The Rover, The Lighthouse, Water for Elephants, Remember Me, that Salvador Dali movie… The latter two, I don’t remember that well.
He’s in Christopher Nolan’s Tenet that comes out next week. I have avoided most of the trailers because I don’t want to spoil anything before I go see it.
Normally I don’t watch trailers unless I’m at the theatre, but I couldn’t resist watching this one. I’m a Pattinson fan.
I think he’s a good actor, I’m just not sure I like him for Batman. But in the end, it’s more about the role and the writing for it. I didn’t like the choice of Affleck and I didn’t particularly care for him in the role. The fact that every movie he’s done as Batman has been lousy doesn’t help his credibility.
Btw, the problem with the Twilight series really had nothing to do with him. It was the fact that the stories were horrible and Stephenie Meyer is a lousy writer.
@cinoclav I’m a little surprised about the choice for his hair. I guess he’s not supposed to be as polished as Bruce Wayne yet because Pattinson can clean up nicely.
@RiotDemon Ugh - more abhorrent writing. I guess all it takes to become a famous author is to write shitty erotic fiction. I should probably get started on that.
@cinoclav she got lucky because she did the Twilight fanfiction. It was super fucking popular and somebody took notice of that and decided to turn it into a book. They hardly changed anything except for their names, I’m not even kidding.
@cinoclav my wife was a fan of twilight, she started the new book (same story from one of the guy’s perspectives) and almost immediately abandoned it saying the writing was awful. I reminded her that it was the same writing she loved years ago, she was not pleased.
@cinoclav@djslack I’m actually waiting for the library to have one available for me. I’m 15th in line, lol.
The twilight books were way better than the 50 shades books. I could enjoy Twilight even with all it’s flaws. 50 shades made me want to set it on fire and then douse the remains in acid.
@cinoclav@djslack@RiotDemon I don’t understand the hate the Twilight films get. We have them all. They’re silly, corny, slightly inept, and a lot of fun.
@djslack hopefully, but I’m not sure. I was hoping the diehards would buy their own copies. I wouldn’t mind buying it, but all the copies I have are trade paperbacks, so I wanted the same.
I should of seen if I could check out the ebook. I always forget about those.
@Limewater if you go in thinking they are serious, you probably won’t have a great time.
I saw them later than everyone else. I think I watched the first one when the third one was in the theater, or about to be. I knew they were cheesy, so I went in with that mindset and enjoyed them for what they are.
@RiotDemon Yeah, my wife and I went to see the first one opening night at the Midtown Art Cinema in Atlanta. They serve alcohol there. The crowd was almost entirely adult women, apart from myself, maybe one other guy, and a few teenagers on the front row. I guess everyone had appropriate expectations because there was a lot of laughter throughout.
@djslack welp, since I wrote this, I went from 15th to 13th waiting for the book from the library. Someone here was nice and shared their ebook with me so I already read it. It was decent, but remember, I actually liked the original twilight books. I was actually at goodwill two nights ago and found a hardcover box set of the original 4 and picked that up.
So many people say “at least it’s a better love story than Twilight.” Sadly, the book made me wish that kind of love was real. Seeing it from Edward’s intense point of view made me sad. I guess I’m just jaded.
I am a big fan of the Christopher Nolan directed Batman movies. Just based on the trailer, this one doesn’t appeal to my tastes. The one thing I will say is that this looks different from what we have seen before, so I will give them credit for trying something new.
There was a huge uproar when the star of Mr. Mom, Johnny Dangerously, Going Ho, and other mediocre comedies was cast as Batman, too, but a lot of people under fifty claim Michael Keaton is their favorite Batman.
Production of Warner Bros.’ The Batman has been delayed yet again, this time because star Robert Pattison has tested positive for COVID-19, Vanity Fair reported. The highly-anticipated retelling of the story of the caped crusader with the Twilight star in the title role had just resumed shooting a few days ago in London.
Also, there is a rumor going around that Robert Battinson might be causing issues with filming.
“My source alleges that all of that was a lie. That Robert Pattinson being sick was a load of BS, a cover story to hide the real reason Matt Reeves wanted to shut the production down,” says Doomcock. “When Pattinson showed up for the first day of shooting, the director took one look at him and lost his sh-t. Pattinson was supposed to be working out during the lockdown delay, and true to his tweet of May 12, he didn’t do sh-t. The director then decided to shut down the production and he gave Pattinson four weeks to go work out and at least get toned. Obviously, if Batman is going to be fighting criminals he has to at the very least be fit, and Pattinson looked more like a junkie than a guy that rounds them up.”

@cinoclav but Stephanie paved the way for E.L. James to write horrible twilight fanfiction that turned into many books and movies… 50 shades.

@RiotDemon Ugh. (That says it all.)

@RiotDemon hers was from the library, too. If more people have reactions like hers and turn it back in early you’ll get it this year

@RiotDemon glad you found it decent. If you stay on the list maybe you can reread it next year.
@djslack @RiotDemon Well, if it’s an ebook she can read it over and over again. (Why she would do that is a whole other question.)
@cinoclav @djslack hahaha.
YEEEEEEEEEEEES! Awesome trailer!
VAN GOGH! MANGO! TANGO! AWESOME!
@ELUNO right?!?
I’m RPatt indifferent, but watched the trailer because I like Matt Reeves. Trailer looks good… does not appear to be an origin story, at least?
@lehigh somewhere else I read that this is one to two years into his career as The Batman.
I am a big fan of the Christopher Nolan directed Batman movies. Just based on the trailer, this one doesn’t appeal to my tastes. The one thing I will say is that this looks different from what we have seen before, so I will give them credit for trying something new.
At least, with the 50 Shades books, we got the public read-alouds
/youtube 50 Shades read aloud
@f00l Nooooooooooooooooooooo
@ELUNO
It was hilarious watching several celebs try to survive the recitation.
There was a huge uproar when the star of Mr. Mom, Johnny Dangerously, Going Ho, and other mediocre comedies was cast as Batman, too, but a lot of people under fifty claim Michael Keaton is their favorite Batman.
I’m of the Adam West generation.
Gung Ho. I missed the autocorrect.
@craigthom You forgot Night Shift!
@craigthom Yep, if you can turn Mr. Mom into Batman anything is possible.
That trailer is enticing.
Hope the film is as good.
did you see the birds of prey trailer too ugh just ugh
@CaptAmehrican I saw birds of prey in the theatre already. You mean Suicide Squad?
/youtube suicide squad trailer
what if robert pattinson being cast as batman is just some long con joke in hollywood since vampires always turn into bats?
@riskybryzness

@ELUNO noooooooooooooooooo!
@RiotDemon ugh… yup…
@ELUNO @RiotDemon Well, it supposedly started with bats. It might as well end there!
Movie delayed to March 4, 2022.

@ELUNO oh God. Not again.
This was an issue with Twilight too.
He looked decent in Tenet, but he was wearing a regular suit.
@ELUNO
@RiotDemon lol at that last quote. But sigh… he seems to be doing it part as “taking a stand” it seems, but I imagine it’s mostly laziness.
@RiotDemon Why even sign up for this kind of movie if you are not going to enjoy doing it.
@ELUNO I know he deals with depression. I think the lock down hit him hard from some interviews I read when he was in lock down.
@RiotDemon Makes sense.
@ELUNO just read this weird article if you haven’t already:
