Thanksgoating – Day four. Vroom Vroom.
13This one will be short. You’re welcome. ![]()
Today I am thankful for road trips with my girls.
I’ve had a really stressful week with a three-day client audit that was very IT intensive. It wrapped up late yesterday and when I got home exhausted, I realized that I had booked a long weekend away for my family. Starting in about 4 hours from now. I’ve not yet thought about what I need to pack and my car is on fumes and I have no cash on me. So…. I’m out.
But I’m thankful that I get to work on dad jokes for three hours with a captive audience
Hopefully I’ll be able to put my feet up and exhale later this afternoon.
Happy Friday all! Imma go put on my out of office!

Not going to lie. It’s kind of roomy for three people.

@capnjb That looks nice!
I’d say I’m jealous, but I’m not yet at the point where I can say with confidence that a road trip with my kids is not the anti-highlight of the year. It’s one of those things that’s usually not as bad as I worry it will be, but there’s still lots of variability from day to day how rotten they act.
But overall, going on vacations with them is still generally more of a win than a loss.
@capnjb @xobzoo It’s Type II Fun: Not fun in the moment, but looking back on you’ll laugh at all the good memories you have.
(Type I Fun is fun now and later. Type III Fun is fun in the moment, but looking back on it you say, “what were we THINKING?!”)
very nice… Lake or Beach?
@chienfou This is on Oyster Bay on Chincoteague Island in Virginia. We saw wild ponies on Assateague Island this afternoon. Love this island
@capnjb
that’s cool. My daughter loved the Misty books when she was little. As an ex volunteer firefighter I always thought that was a pretty cool fundraiser.
@chienfou The saltwater cowboys are something to be seen. We’ve only caught one pony swim but it’s everything you’d imagine.
We found this island when my wife was pregnant in 2007 and we had our ‘babymoon’ here. I think this is our 12th trip back. Love, love, love this island. Beautiful sunrises and amazing food. This is our first time here in November… it was 75 degrees today. Ridiculous. Heh.
@capnjb
yep, a bad day at the beach is still better than a good day at work.
When the kids were younger we vacayed on the outer banks for several summers with another family. Now we generally go to the panhandle of FL (St George Island to Alligator Point) Actually headed to AP on Sunday. We rented a house on the beach for the month. Wife has a bunch of girlfriends down this week, next week it’s couples, 3rd week just wife and my mom hanging out then 4th week we will do Tgiving with the kids and grandkids. This one of the reasons I LOVE my schedule (seven on/seven off).
Glad you are getting the chance to spend some quality time with the fam. Carpe Diem!
@chienfou OMG (wild) PONIES!
@capnjb
While on a backpacking trip on Cumberland Island (GA) with the kids years ago, we woke one morning to several wild horses running thru the back-country campsite we were in. It was magnificent! Glad you are getting to see them on this trip.
@capnjb @chienfou beautiful
I got two crab pots in the water just before dark. Hoping for a yummy lunch tomorrow
@capnjb catch any?
@bee1doll Let’s find out!
Might have enough keepers for a meal.
@bee1doll @capnjb
NOW we’re talkin!!
Carpe Crabem!
So, I rented two bikes so my girls could ride around the island. Then I opened the garage door. Hrmm.
@capnjb Are there any open missing persons reports on visitors who were out riding bicycles?
