So I started a new topic to share my sewing adventures with you all. Feel free to ask questions or give me ideas.

I took a swing at a pattern for a very popular monster doll bag, and I’m delighted with how they turned out.
(Yeah, I made the teeth and eyes glow in the dark, because I love how creepy it is.)

@Kyeh Thanks! Appliques are a new thing for me, so this was a beast of a learning curve.
I seem to have a habit of trying to start new things on hard mode.
@Thumperchick It looks super hard! Any mistakes would leave a mark in that leathery fabric, right? They came out perfect as far as I can see.
@Kyeh Yes, it would leave a puncture mark in the vinyl that would be hard to cover.

You want creep factor, add glowing eyes in the ears and hair that are more visible when it gets dark
Oh! I forgot to share this example of me still learning stuff. I forgot to move the zipper pocket out of the way and sewed through it when attaching the straps.
This one was fun: A book sleeve with all of the possum hardware. I kind of wish I ordered more of that panel…
(The big possum is a magnet.)

@Kyeh @Thumperchick Oh Em Stop it right this second! That is the most amazing thing EVER! I guess I never considered the opossum route. I just always default to avocado.
I’m just going to post all of the things here today.
This was my first run at this type of bag. The hardware made it extra fun for me. The larger bat at the top is a magnet so you can unsnap it and access the main zipper compartment.
My recent mini wallet makes:
I’m still not great at straight lines for fabric (I’m decent at it on vinyl), and quilting-type work is generally my kryptonite. But these turned out pretty well overall.

When the kids were little ( >35 years ago) we bought a couple Brother sewing machines from the High School home ec department when they were clearing them out. Kids both used them to make costumes and assorted items as gifts etc. Those machines were beasts!
@chienfou Right on! I love mine. I’ve had it for about 4 years and I’ve sewn clothing, blankets, random stuff, bags, and wallets.
It’s held up to like 6-7 layers of vinyl and hasn’t died on me yet. It’s a beast of a domestic machine.
