@f00l Ireland ought to be fun, but it’s hard to top the Swiss comment about gold. Poland has a wealth of material available. Italy is usually pretty good at deflating pomposity, too.

I think it’s a variety of voice artists. They don’t all sound the same and they have to be able to pronounce local things correctly.

@OldCatLady these are all great. I’ve seen a couple that were not so great. One from India that I couldn’t even get halfway, and another country, I forget which one. It’s like they watched all these videos and then skipped all the stuff that made them great.

You need good writing, even more than the voice. And you need a really professional looking video. I think Belgium? was a letdown. Luxembourg was pretty funny.

They need to not just cookie cutter off The Netherlands.

@f00l But I LOVED the Mannekin Pis routine. The edgier the send-up, the better. I can only hope T watches them, accepts the ‘praise’, and misses the sarcasm.

Seriously, this is our THING. Canadian comics could do this in their sleep. I just want to see a good rant before it opens (cranky transplanted Newfoundlanders do the BEST rants).

I mean, of course it has to be us. We were MADE for this role, just look at us. Second largest landmass of any country, and we all know who the only one bigger than us is (especially with that new North American colony they just picked up). Plus, we’re close by, so if he needs anything like, say, some oil or softwood, he can just pop over and take it. Softwood LUMBER, far be it from us to insinuate anything else. And the Northwest Passage when the ice melts… Not that climate change is happening, no, not at all. Nature is just relaxing some of those annoying restrictions on business.

And we know how business work. Most of this land belonged to someone else first, but we just took it. Didn’t bother asking the losers who lived there what they wanted for it, we just moved in and set up shop.* got started here. We were founded by a department store. Really. It’s true. And it carries Ivanka’s collection. MADE. FOR. THIS.

I’m sure someone with more time, resources and comedy chops could really do this country justice.

*Sadly, this is true. Most of BC was not surrendered via treaty and in general, our treatment of native people is just appalling. We tend to act like we’re a shining beacon of liberalism, but there is a very dark, slimy heart beneath that. Not that they’ll actually teach that in schools… we really are cut out for the role of America’s sidekick.
