@ReusableBox To bad it isn’t a steam drill with vacuum and laser attachments, all of which recharge in less than five minutes from an iPhone USB charger, or I would be all over this one.
@ReusableBox There seems to be a hammer setting on it, along with a “drill” setting and a “screwdriver” setting (third picture). That said, I would not buy this…
Says 2000mAh nickel-cadmium battery (twice), then says 2.0A lithium… which is it? (Also the picture says 1.5Ah Lithium-ion, which is also inconsistent)
@seraphimcaduto@thechilipepper0 Given that Aukey appears to have been booted by the 'Zon as well, I suspect that name will also evaporate in a cloud of closeouts soon enough. For the moment, they appear to be trying to remain in the game with that name via WalMart’s site, as one of the sellers not trying to score home runs via deceptions. And, curiously, they have offered their legacy Amazon purchasers some extended warranty coverage for whatever that may be worth.
The Newegg listing claims to have 1550 ratings, but zero reviews. The $100 price point at Best Buy is quite aspirational as well. Much nicer drills are available at a much better price, assuming you don’t put much value in the collection of chinesium garbage they packaged with it. They didn’t even package drill bits with it.
When I click on the Newegg link, I see the regular price is $54.99, but it’s on sale for $49.99.
Unless Meh is offering a 2-for-one sale it doesn’t add up
Also, Newegg doesn’t call it a Hammer Drill. Since that requires special drill bits, I’m thinking the Meh offering is the hammer in the tool kit plus a drill
@mehmoth A hammer drill doesn’t require the bits for the functionality of the hammering action. You are correct that if you want to drill masonry, you will need a concrete bit, but the hammer action happens regardless of bit on true hammer drills, which I suspect this is not. And even if it is, what is the efficacy the same as pushing and pulling manually on a drill? Cheap gargbage.
@Larry1977 It it were a brushless drill it wouldn’t need to be sold on meh. This is an embarrassing offer when it will not be here by the holidays if you cared to actually get a decent drill and walked into a big box store where EVERY brand is vying for your benjamins (see, benjamins) and asked the guy to get you a $40 HAMMER drill, brushless or not, he would laugh his ass off and tell you to go to jo-anne fabrics for your tools.
I bought a Black + Decker 20V drill from Ace hardware last December for $25. So I don’t need this item. I also have 7 ea. 20V B+D Li ion batteries for my weed eaters, that just happen to fit the B+D drill…
I bought a Black + Decker Sander & Mill, but I don’t talk about it in public very often. It happens that my uncle retired from a forty year career at Montana Leather Works as a whipmaker when COVID started, so I had about eight various whips and a couple of other leather items laying around already. It all worked out for the best in my personal situation, I’d say. I’m not sure how it helps anyone who isn’t my uncle’s nephew, though.
@clutchdude@djslack Might want to install a surrealism-generator chip as well. I know that they do wonders for the entertainment value of Google Speech To Text.
Usually deals are fab bargains, BUT this drill is $49 (on sale from $59) a Newegg, not $100, and with free shipping, so comes out about the same. Which is not to say I didn’t get a kick out of the verbiage that Meh people write, e.g. “dessert fork.”
I checked out Newegg & saw the same price that mehmoth stated of $49.99, but you can pay for it in about 4 payments of $12.49 & it’s free shipping!! The drill looks cheap because it likely IS cheaply made!!
@okeanos You’re looking at an artifact of the peculiarity of Chinese grammar, which does not have the same structure for indicating tense or subject-verb correspondence as English and many others.
I have to say, the drill with just the battery and charger would have been a more attractive deal than the drill and a bunch of really questionable-looking tools. The sketchiness of the stuff that came with it was 90% of what made it look cheap. And I don’t mean cheap in the "inexpensive"way.
Ah yes the fancy nickel-cadmium lithium-ion batteries.
@trustykey At first I thought it was a big leap backwards, then I just felt confused.
@trustykey b-b-but the picture shows li-ion
/giphy confused
This isn’t hammer drill. This is just a regular drill.
@ReusableBox it is, if you swing it the right way.
That said, I would not buy this…
@ReusableBox you win today
@bwalthers @ReusableBox lol the pictures show two different chucks/clutches, some pictures its metal and others are plastic.
Says 2000mAh nickel-cadmium battery (twice), then says 2.0A lithium… which is it? (Also the picture says 1.5Ah Lithium-ion, which is also inconsistent)
@caffeineguy not sure about the 1.5 in the listing, but 2000mAh (milli-amp hours) is the same as 2Ah (amp-hours) or 2.0A (amp).

Selling quite the off brand power drill during the time of year where everyone else has deals on the name brand stuff? Sounds like a big Meh to me!
@seraphimcaduto I’ve noticed that they have a ton of Tacklife stuff. I wonder what kind of deal they have with Aukey, the owner
@seraphimcaduto @thechilipepper0 Meh probably picked it up for pennies after Amazon kicked them out for buying reviews.
@seraphimcaduto @thechilipepper0 Given that Aukey appears to have been booted by the 'Zon as well, I suspect that name will also evaporate in a cloud of closeouts soon enough. If you just sold the extras in pink, I would buy it for my pre-teen neice. It looks like a step up from little tikes.

@jandrese I got my makita for $100
@jandrese @thechilipepper0 I picked up seven Ryobi drills for $40 (for the group) from a guy who bought three pallets of HD returns.
When I click on the Newegg link, I see the regular price is $54.99, but it’s on sale for $49.99.

@KNmeh7 @mehmoth And using it in hammer mode anywhere other than masonry is generally a bad idea.
If this were a brushless drill it would have sold out
@Larry1977 It it were a brushless drill it wouldn’t need to be sold on meh. @Larry1977 It DID sell out. there were only 252 apparently, but it did sell out.
@kevinrs sold out *sooner
Harbor Freight called and said get off their lawn.
It’s hammer time…?
@ircon96
/youtube m c hammer, you can’t touch this
@phendrick
Back from the time when a $5 hamburger only cost $2.
@phendrick
And the IRK was $5.00, and things on Meh didn’t end with $0.99!
@Lynnerizer
This is the best name in the industry. In Papa New Guinea.
I can’t believe it’s still a nickel-cadmium after all this inflation!
Does it come with the pistol in the last picture? If so, I’ll take two!

@djslack You sound like a bot with a complete non-sequitur.
@clutchdude thanks, I’ve been working on training my model for non-sequiturs.
@clutchdude @djslack Might want to install a surrealism-generator chip as well. I know that they do wonders for the entertainment value of Google Speech To Text.
Sell it for $11 without the drill.
Usually deals are fab bargains, BUT this drill is $49 (on sale from $59) a Newegg, not $100, and with free shipping, so comes out about the same. Which is not to say I didn’t get a kick out of the verbiage that Meh people write, e.g. “dessert fork.”
$100 at NewEgg?? Someone must not be keeping up. It has it for $49.99 there today.
I checked out Newegg & saw the same price that mehmoth stated of $49.99, but you can pay for it in about 4 payments of $12.49 & it’s free shipping!! The drill looks cheap because it likely IS cheaply made!!
@1DisabledWarVet it was $100 last night shortly after the Meh deal went up. Newegg must have dropped the price overnight.
It’s $49 at Newegg, not $100, so what’s the point?
And then there’s the very peculiar-looking drill bit that’s shown in simulated use in the fourth photoshop…
Everything about this particular item has my KMart warning alerts going off.
I bought one item from Tacklife. Their customer support is non-existent. Never again. In other words:
Your warning alert sixth-sense is right on.
How do you insert the chuck into a drill or screwdriver?
@okeanos You’re looking at an artifact of the peculiarity of Chinese grammar, which does not have the same structure for indicating tense or subject-verb correspondence as English and many others.
Came here looking for a nice Christmas present. Alas, it was only a drill.

Since we’re talking tools, I wouldn’t mind some cheap car tool kits, Meh. I’d buy a couple if you got em!
