If not, can I make one now?
How about something like a fire pit ring? Or a portable propane fire pit? Perhaps any type of portable heater (table nation heater)?
And yes, I’m amused at myself for suggesting this after San Diego and LA just baked in the extreme last weekend.
I’m curious to know where the stuff comes from that’s sold here on Meh.com? Somehow I was under the impression that the stuff was someone else’s leftovers or over-stock! ¯_(ツ)_/¯
@Lynnerizer Some of it is, but not all. I think there are things like unclaimed containers getting bought, buying out a company’s old model and shilling for some of the new model. There are just a lot of companies importing and exporting all the time. Once the container lands, the stuff in it has to get sold by someone.
There’s also stuff on sidedeals.com and morningsave.com that crosses over and back that are straight up promo items.
I’d like to see kids toys that aren’t dangerous or trashy - eg are actually decent - for the grade school and younger set. Also early reader books and other books for kids that are nice books. There is a bookstore here going out of business where about 1/2 of their inventory is books obtained by liquidation, are used but in really good shape, returns to publishers from other bookstores… The owner isn’t surviving the shutdown and the covid loan has long ago run out. Sad.
@chienfou LOL… yeah some of the toys I had as a kid wouldn’t be allowed now. But they were sure fun. Bows and arrows, yard darts, cap guns, air rifles that shot dirt cores, my brother made fire crackers with long fuses and we blew up sand castles…
Machines!! Supplies!! There are so many different categories for crafting. Copic markers (probably the only way I’d ever be able to afford them), for instance.
@Star2236 Mostly paper crafts. Seriously. I’m really bad about looking at videos and going down rabbit holes.
Not so much stuff that takes a lot of natural talent (like painting, stick figures are more my forte), but paper crafts. 3D things, cards, etc. Chibi lights would be nice.
Here’s one of my more recent projects. Gotta love interactive cards.
@lisaviolet
Wow that’s really good and way out of my wheelhouse. I’m the other side of crafting, I can be on Pinterest for hours straight. I like building and creating stuff. I’ve done mosaic birdhouses where I’ve cut glass and grouted them, wreaths, stuff with corks, make coaster just about anything that catches my interest. I did scrapbooking for a min and decided it’s not for me and now (like a lot of other projects/crafts) I’m getting rid of everything that I haven’t touched or no longer do so I can actually have room.
@Star2236 that’s really nice. I’m on my tablet, so no access to my harddrive, but here’s one of my projects. A link to my online album. I don’t scrapbook, either.
I’d like to know where to send suggestions too. But until then I have one:
Chair cushions.
I’m trying two different Purple cushions and each is giving me a problem for a different reason (one is firm but too short for my thighs, the other is too soft but long without bothering my thighs). I will also take any suggestions from fellow Mehtizens.
@JT954 if you have the covers. Or make them. You can buy foam to your preferred firmness to cut to fit.
Had an old couch with those spring coils inside the cushions that had let go and were just shot. Also happed to score some cheap memory foam mattress on close out. So I just diced and sliced and got 4 new cushions that are way better and a large dog bed if I ever have one. Obviously there are other ways to get foam.
Also, what about any of the multitudes of new robotic vacuums that have popped up in the past 5-6 years or so? (i.e. not Roomba or Neato… and definitely NOT a Deebot, which got here years ago, and is just all-around pathetic)
Surely some of them have to have closeouts or rejects for cheap
@haydesigner they have and used to see them more.
I snagged this guy cause I’m not going to lie I was a little tipsy and said fuck it.
Even though I told myself I’d never get one without laser or optical nav it actually sorts it out pretty well and does straight paths then some wandering. But the cheap ones aren’t as bad as I thought they’d be.
I wouldn’t specifically recommend this one but. If you watch slickdeals out meh puts another up the cheap ones aren’t awful. It’s running all hardwood not carpet that could make a difference.
@haydesigner@unksol
Meh gave me one in my irk and I was so excited until further inspection and it was returned. I can’t seem to get it going, it keeps saying there’s debris caught in the bumper but when I get that light to go away, it won’t seem to charge past low battery. But then I swore I herd it zooming around the house the other night? Who knows could have been a wishful thinking dream.
@haydesigner@Star2236 I don’t think you can return irks? They sometimes contain broken junk.
Never got a BOC when they were real woot or one here. Got close once but I would bet dsl killed me.
I would disassemble the whole thing and look for anything off. Just for a project if it cost $5.
Cleaning wise. Clear all sensors of junk.
If you’re not into electronics better to scrap it. Or try and sell it on eBay for parts. Unless you know an engineering tech guy or you are comfortable soldering small circuits. An diagnosing them
@haydesigner@Star2236 oh well either way. Unscrew everything and clean. I would assume the bumper is based on a switch that might be stuck from the way mine behaves. If you can clean it and get it unstuck… Doesn’t really sound like a electrical problem I would guess mechanical.
If I can pay attention long enough I’d take mine apart and help… Short attention span lol
Solder joints could still be bad but I’d start with a jammed switch
@Cerridwyn maine coons are awesome but I don’t honestly remember a cat being in discovery…
Granted I did binge watch it on a cbs trial and there wasn’t much left… Wouldn’t even let me watch the previous season of ncis after I paid so I was annoyed…
Brain may have also disregarded it as a shameless Comander Data reference… But that is a very impressive kitty… I should remember that
@Cerridwyn@unksol Spaghetti cat is amazing - and I don’t use that word lightly! What an adorable cat! (The one that rolls over, although the one eating is cute too)
@Cerridwyn@unksol Well, I’m glad you found him/her! Something to show people who claim you can’t get cats to do tricks; although I’ve always thought it was a sign of superior intelligence that they won’t fetch or sit just because you demand it.
@Cerridwyn@Kyeh cats are of course trainable… If you want to put in the time. But… They are low maintenance and snuggle up when you need them… Why bother if you can get them to come when you call/invite them… You can train a cat to do tricks like a dog or you could just have a cat.
@Kyeh@unksol
cats play fetch
when they want to
or feel like it
had one that you could toss milk bottle rings around the house for hours and they would bring them back.
he wasn’t trained.
@Cerridwyn@Kyeh I think all of mine have played fetch. At on point or another. The first one by my head did but I think he grew out of it. The girls were more… Sporadic
But I like the qualities you mentioned, and that they don’t need constant attention and approval from me. And they DO respond when you’re sad. The saddest day of my life, the two cats I had then came and sat on me and stayed just as long as I was there.
If not, can I make one now?

@haydesigner you’re getting dangerously close to seasonal for those requests. They’ll show up around April or May.
@haydesigner I’m very confused. How does california being baked have anything to do with heat sources?
@unksol, is that a
/giphy pot reference?

@Lynnerizer @mike808 Also I’d bet they bought the masks that are sold (designed by them too) on masksforeveryface to sell here.
@Kidsandliz @Lynnerizer @mike808 well and I heard some toothbrushes “fell off the back of a truck” lol
@Kidsandliz @Lynnerizer @unksol
Maybe they did, maybe they didn’t. Who knows?
/giphy Schroedinger’s toothbrush
@Kidsandliz @Lynnerizer @mike808 that parrot looks awfully suspicious…

kinda like like these ??
@chienfou LOL… yeah some of the toys I had as a kid wouldn’t be allowed now. But they were sure fun. Bows and arrows, yard darts, cap guns, air rifles that shot dirt cores, my brother made fire crackers with long fuses and we blew up sand castles…
@Kidsandliz
and still… we survived!
CRAFT STUFF!!!

Not speakers every third day.
@Star2236 Ahh… You want them EVERY OTHER day!
I would like meh to sell:
snacks, some mechanical pencils, fans, lamps, things for kitties, and things for boats.
Also, what about any of the multitudes of new robotic vacuums that have popped up in the past 5-6 years or so? (i.e. not Roomba or Neato… and definitely NOT a Deebot, which got here years ago, and is just all-around pathetic)

@Cerridwyn sigh. I don’t like giving them money. For a shameless data plug. But kitty!
@Cerridwyn also I see no kitty in your gif I think you just got a maine lighthouse
@Cerridwyn @unksol That’s devious! Who could resist the lure of Cat Trek.
@Cerridwyn @unksol Spaghetti cat is amazing - and I don’t use that word lightly! What an adorable cat! (The one that rolls over, although the one eating is cute too)
@Cerridwyn @Kyeh I can claim no credit for spaghetti cat… Just slapped a / youtube on the words. Did not know he existed…
But of course he does

You really need to offer a digital 80-250 ft/lb torque wrench with an angle indicator for about $100.
