Put out Stroopwafels along with normal candy bars and let them choose what they wanted. A few kids were very excited for them. One or two were actually cheering “Stroopwafels!” to their parents who already probably have a few hundred at home from Meh. Put 15-20 out - all were gone by the end of the night.
I got turned onto stroopwafels about 7 years ago when my Dutch boss would bring them back for the team. At the time, no one was importing them consistently so one container of 8 would be like $13 online. Apparently, a few years ago when airlines started carrying them as snacks, they were properly being imported to the US. Daelman’s in the Netherlands makes all of the ones imported into the US, including the mini versions sold on Meh.

I’ve been seeing them in the fall at varying locations around here for a long time, but Texas has a fairly large number of people of North European extraction who maintain some of the cultural roots. That, and Aldi regularly gets them.
What a great idea! Hahaha
Ran out of candy, now I have to explain to kids that’s just a special cookie. Take it, damn it!

It’s like this kids have never been on an international flight to Europe.

I don’t even turn the light on anymore, trick or treaters don’t come to this side of the neighborhood. I guess it saves money.
