Stop everything! It’s National Taco Day!
7Well, somehow, I seem to have missed this year’s talk like a pirate day
But this day is even more important
So don’t miss your shot
https://www.delish.com/food-news/a62454071/national-taco-day-deals-freebies-2024/
If you Google around, you can probably find specific local deals
There’s some confusion about the day because it used to be always October 4 and now they want it to be the first Tuesday in October
So some places are running promos today through the fourth
Anyone who doesn’t manage to get some tacos inside them, oh well, I hope you survive
That really sounds terrible and painful if you don’t have some tacos.
So get greedy.

You missed national coffee day which was last Sunday
Much more important. Gotta get my legal and socially acceptable chemical dependency
edit: fixing image
Yeah got busy on Sunday.
Anyway today get tacos.
They go well w coffee.

Taco Bell offer it’s a bit disingenuous. There are 10 thousand $1 tacos available across the country each hour via the app, there are 7800 + stores… so you do the math
Kind of like scoring an IRK…
@chienfou I was all ready to post this picture, then I noticed I got it from somewhere here on Meh. I don’t remember where, so I can’t attribute it correctly (and I don’t feel like searching for it), but it’s been more than a year so it’s fair game, right?
In any case, this is what Taco Bell reminds me of:
Try Taco Cabana or Dairy Queen or Del Taco or Franks Tacos or Fuzzy’s Tacos or just anyplace.
@xobzoo expected the “physical touch” one to be a bit more obscene.
I wasn’t able to celebrate, but I’m glad to see Taco Bell getting behind the idea of a nationally recognized Taco Tuesday!
@PooltoyWolf
the problem with taco day being taco Tuesday is that somebody had or claim they had a trademark on the term taco Tuesday
And that had to be resolved before national taco day could be the first Tuesday in October
or something weird like that
But apparently it’s all fixed now
@f00l AFAIK there is a small local taco restsurant that laid claim to the phrase, and they still hold it in their state, but elsewhere it’s now public domain.
@f00l @PooltoyWolf Not exactly small or exclusively local, it was Taco John’s. (about 400 locations in 23 states). They gave up the trademark rather than slug it out with Taco Bell in court, despite the fact that they’d owned the mark without challenge since 1989. There is still one entity laying claim to it, exclusively in New Jersey; they’re a hotel chain.
I went to Rose’s Cafe, here in Texas.
But every Tuesday is Taco Tuesday!
@lonocat Haz sorrow. Missed yesterday, but maybe go in the next day or two. By next Tuesday, for sure. You made me hungry. Was there a subliminal ad in your post?

@lonocat
Yes every Tuesday is taco Tuesday
And every day is taco day

Curiously I have been told that in Scandinavia they do tacos every Friday
I hope it’s true. I certainly approve.
ISTR that El Arroyo recognized it once with a sign saying “It’s National Taco Day! Try Our Gazpacho!”
No recognition for the almighty burrito or nacho? I’m more partial to the crunch wrap myself, which tends to be less messy than a taco that more often than not arrives with the bottom already split and soggy.
KuoH
@kuoh Some rebrand a deep-fried burrito as a chimichanga, though that tends to be just the smaller versions. There was a place nearby where they’d do it to the big ones, and their fryer was loaded with beef tallow. Extra yum. Sadly, the plague seems to have killed them.
