I seek suggestions for stocking stuffers. Clearly whatever is $10 and under at meh will find it's way in... but all I can think of at the moment is candy.
Everyone is over 25. It's a big deal for my fiancés family. Everyone usually ends up with 20+ items totaling close to $200. Candy, electronics accessories, games, little bottles of booze... I figured there's got to be fun, quirky ideas you all have enjoyed
If anyone in the group has a Keurig, last year my husband put a variety of K-Cups in my stocking. About $10 per box (w/20% off coupon) at Bed Bath and Beyond. He got me roasts/flavors I normally wouldn't have tried.
For the women, thick fluffy socks (not meant to be worn with shoes). If any of them have e-readers, gift cards for their devices. Personal handmade coupon books (this coupon entitles you to a car wash, window wash, stuff like that). Movie passes or theater gift cards. If I come up with anything else...oh, hey, I got 100 little Murican flags and 47 small knives that look like bullets if you're interested.
Little travel sets with tweezers, nail clippers. Character caps, like the ones that look like sock monkeys. You can find them in many different animal types.
Nightlights, fun jewelry (I have some earrings that light up).
My family does a lot of car essentials: windshield de-icer, snow brushes, wiper blades, air fresheners (love the Yankee Candle ones), car wash coupons, dunkin donuts gift cards (yes, coffee is essential in the car), travel packs of handi-wipes. I've also gotten oil filters, spark plugs and air filters. (Rumor has it my "big" gift from hubby this year is a new radiator. Woohoo!! No, seriously, I'm happy about this.)
If you've got a local Harbor Freight, how about their cheap or free items? (One of my relatives loves getting the free stuff from there so I have a bunch of items sitting around now.) If you've got coffee/tea drinkers, you could check the local thrift stores for mugs you think people will like. Also a good place to pick up some of the other items people have suggested here.
Small LED flashlights that clip on to key chains that are solar powered. They also make them that you can clip on to car visors. I have used both on occasion and it is nice to have a working light without having to worry about batteries.
We have something similar in all of our vehicles now. Except ours also have whistles.
When my car was on its side, passenger side down, I was hanging by my seatbelt. I was able to turn the stereo off (which amazingly was still playing), but not unbuckle the seatbelt. I couldn't reach it. The guy who cut me off in traffic is the one who got down to the car, climbed the fence and got me out. (Rolled down a hill sideways one complete turn, then a quarter, hit a fence, the car did a 180 and it was facing in the opposite direction.) I'm glad he saw it happen. Otherwise who knows how long I'd have been hanging there. If I'd had one of these then, it wouldn't have been a problem.
@editorkid Since it was a non-contact hit, the insurance company was a big weiner. Told me the next time (sent this in an actual snail mail letter, which I still have) to "take the hit". Not to avoid it. Yeah. Right. Like that's gonna happen. I can see me thinking "okay, okay, okay, prepare for impact, here it comes" and squeeze my eyes shut....
For a unique homemade gift, get some mini canvases, paint them creatively, glue a magnet to the back, and make a one-of-a-kind refrigerator magnet masterpiece. https://www.google.com/search?q=miniature+canvases
@Foxborn I was going to suggest that. You never know what kind of crap they're going to stock. They're great for gag gifts as well has handy ones. And everything is only a dollar.
I second the lottery scratcher suggestion, and how about some flash drives in clever or funny configurations? Also, you mentioned candy; they sell individually boxed truffles at specialty shops around here.
Lottery scratch-offs thirded. I once went to a party with an "adult" pinata. It was full of little liquor bottles, condoms, cigars, and scratchers. People go crazy for those scratchers; they can't help themselves. I think it's the kind of thing people love (gambling!) but don't generally buy for themselves (odds suck, waste of money).
@AnnaB I'm also a big fan of that store. Unfortunately they've lost a few of their Chicago locations to Walmart. Which, to put this into perspective, is like losing a really great store to Walmart.
@bluedog absolutely not because a big chunk of that money went towards decorations for our first Christmas tree and various bombers of Christmas beer, including I'm not sharing.
@JonT I got that beer as gift one year, and was quite surprised at what the beer actually looked like- for some reason, I really thought the beer would be somewhat like the bottle coloring.
I had the same question about stocking stuffers. Thanks to those who contributed to this thread. I thought I’d bump it to get this year’s perspective added on.
I like chapstick in a stocking always useful in the winter.
Nice pens
Nail polish and emery boards
Socks
Hair ties
Candy canes
Colored electrical tape (so useful)
Silicone spatula
A cute oven mit
Age group?

CAH expansion set.
@DaveInSoCal This is on my wishlist every year now.
Raspberry Pi Model B+? I wouldn't mind seeing one of those in my stocking. I love screwing with Unix.
SteelSeries Stratus iOS MFi Wireless Gaming Controllers, Wallet Ninjas, Tupac shot glasses, Lottery scratchoffs...

@lisaviolet My wife loved the “Spa socks” I got for her. Very soft and thick but also fairly loose fitting.
Wow, sorry for the necro-response, didn’t realize this thread was that old…

I'm trying to think of small things.

USB drives, refrigerator magnets, screen cleaning cloths, nightlights, DVDs, shot glasses.

@dashcloud I LOVE Harbor Freight!

@Kidsandliz I was going to suggest these too. They come in handy sometimes.

@lisaviolet Ack! Glad it wasn't worse. Where do you keep the cutter thing so it can be reached?
@hallmike On the overhead console, where you'd put a garage remote. By the way, I landed on Miramar in San Diego.
@lisaviolet Holy crap!
@lisaviolet Glad you're okay.
@dashcloud Thank you.
@lisaviolet Wow - that looks worse than I had pictured in my head. I too am glad you are ok.
@lisaviolet Whoa. Yes. Glad you're OK. Please don't do that again unless it's better than the alternative (which I assume was the case here).
@lisaviolet Good grief!! Looks like you were very lucky to walk away. Maybe your next car should be a tank?
@lisaviolet Holy schnikeys! So glad you're okay. That looks like one horrific accident.

@bluedog @Kidsandliz @editorkid @hallmike Thanks. And if you ever doubt the reason for seatbelts, I'm living proof. I walked away from that.
@lisaviolet o_O
...
Yeah, stop hurting your insurance company's bottom line! They're busy and they have important things to do!

@hallmike I love homemade gifts.
to top everything off in our house Dollar tree is required surprising what you can find there
@Foxborn I was going to suggest that. You never know what kind of crap they're going to stock. They're great for gag gifts as well has handy ones. And everything is only a dollar.
Etsy has bajillions of nifty things that are handmade, plenty of unique small gifts to suit just about anyone.
@Pony Seconding Etsy, you can get some really thoughtful and unique gifts made at relatively reasonable prices.
I like to get some of the cheap Groupons for local stuff -- usually dining or shopping.
A slew of cool items here: https://www.thegrommet.com/
It's a little pricey, but very unique.
I second the lottery scratcher suggestion, and how about some flash drives in clever or funny configurations? Also, you mentioned candy; they sell individually boxed truffles at specialty shops around here.
Cheap, awful DVDs and lotsa popcorn for MST3K-type nights. Cheap adult beverage of choice sold separately.

I love Cost Plus World Market for all kinds of little ornaments, food items, small champagne or wine bottles and various other goofy things
@AnnaB Yes, yes, and yes. Just went to World Market and managed to spend $250 without even thinking about it, and I'm not even mad.
@AnnaB I'm also a big fan of that store. Unfortunately they've lost a few of their Chicago locations to Walmart. Which, to put this into perspective, is like losing a really great store to Walmart.
@JonT $250 on stuff to put in holiday fuku bags being sent to the forum regulars, right?
@bluedog
@bluedog absolutely not because a big chunk of that money went towards decorations for our first Christmas tree and various bombers of Christmas beer, including I'm not sharing.
@JonT Gorgeous tree! Wish we could see the Irk tree topper, though.
@JonT I got that beer as gift one year, and was quite surprised at what the beer actually looked like- for some reason, I really thought the beer would be somewhat like the bottle coloring.

I for one would be thrilled to find a severed foot in a stocking
@Pantheist
Any preferences with regards to what kind of foot you’d like?
@PlacidPenguin as long as it isn’t an animal that I identify as a pet because I’m a speciesist.
@Pantheist on second thought, maybe I don’t want this year’s perspective. Just some cheerful ideas.
@Pantheist Hey - how about a chicken head?
@sligett lol awesome.
