Still waiting for USPS to get back to me after losing my package...
0USPS reported my FedEx SmartPost package as delivered 10 days ago, but it never was. I created a missing package ticket the day after and eventually talked to them on the phone a couple times. They basically said "Don't call us, we'll call you." Last conversation was 3 days ago. I have a growing feeling that they aren't actually making an effort to find my package. Anyone else here gone through this?

I've run into this twice. Once, they found my package several days later and got it to me. The other time, they basically said, "oh well, we marked it as delivered."
Good luck!
I have a missing $190 package. They also told me "We show that it was delivered"...as bad as buying their "insurance" against their own theft, now they can steal it and then turn it down because it was marked delivered...I hate them for it
in the last three weeks, i've had to track down two packages that never showed up.
first package: tracking info for the package showed as "unable to deliver, notice left" but i received NO notice. i requested a redelivery via the usps.com website and one week later the package was still not delivered. i went to the facility and presented my tracking info, with the counter clerk saying she couldn't find it and telling me i had to speak to the warehouse manager. but the warehouse manager was too busy to talk with me. i left my name and number and was assured i would receive a call that day. but my phone was eerily silent. two days later the package showed up and i'm sure that it was because i escalated/showed up in person. i haven't a clue as to why it was undeliverable to begin with - it was an bag type package and it fit in my mailbox. even if it wouldn't have fit in my mailbox, the driver could have left it on my doorstep.
i'm now trying to obtain package #2, same story so far: tracking shows "unable to deliver, notice left" and again NO actual notice. redelivery was requested on monday and as of today it still hasn't been delivered. i know for a fact that this package is also a bag type package. am pretty sure that i will once again have to pay a visit to the facility.
i suspect this scenario in both cases: delivery person finishes his/her rounds and upon arriving back at the warehouse discovers left over mail. instead of coming back out and delivering it or putting it in for delivery the next day, the delivery person lies and states that it wasn't deliverable and that a notice was left, knowing full well that there's nothing we/i can do to call them out on their laziness/crappy attitude towards their job.
honestly, i'm beginning to wonder why people/businesses even continue to use the usps.
It could be worse... You could be like Canada where they are in the process of phasing out mail delivery.
Everyone will have to go to community mailbox areas somewhere down their street (hopefully) and pick up their own mail. Oh, and your mailbox key likely works in several other mailboxes in the same mega-boxes-thing, because they don't bother to make too many different key patterns.
@curtise I'm sure it will be so much cheaper building these pick up stations and making keys and maintaining it all. What a mess !
fwiw- not in Canada, but not far away.
@curtise we have that in my neighborhood. Packages either go in a bigger box at the bottom of the mailbox set and then they put the key to that in my regular mailbox, or if the package is too big they do come deliver it to my door.
The other day the mailman stuck a box that exactly fit in the mailbox. Of course when he then closed the front of the case, the frame for the door made it a smaller home. Had to crush the box with my fingers and pry it out :(
I sent something to meh, it was due last Monday. Tracking said delivered Monday morning but they couldn't find it. It finally turned up - it wasn't actually delivered until Tuesday. USPS - lying liars!
You are boned. When they mark it delivered you are SOL. Been down that road a couple times.
With the USPS, as far as where I'm at goes, the moment they claim it was undeliverable, it's sent back. No other attempt made, no ability to contact them. They claimed I refused delivery of a meh order, but the delivery person had never come to my door. Shady jerks. I pitched a fit at the local office and suddenly, it was returned to meh. Who awesomely got it right back out to me, thank you very much! My family has been reaping the benefits of my experiments with sorbet ever since.
@jaremelz Sooo.... you ordered a magic speaker dock?
@cinoclav Didn't you?
I'm sure it's not much consolation, but years ago, back when bacon was still a thing, Woot had some bacon cologne during a fall Wootoff and I bought some thinking it would do for the work Secret Santa. Instead of sending it SmartPost, which has always been fantastic for me, it was sent UPS. It is still marked as being on the UPS truck ready for delivery. (Woot refunded my money not long after it was obvious that would never, ever change, of course.)
@editorkid
@editorkid But have you ever gotten close enough to smell your UPS driver? I'll bet it really is still on the truck (at least until it runs out.)
I just have a few words Get a Post Office Box.
I've had one for fifteen years and have had maybe 3 issues. They are worth the money
