@riceatusc Many things have caused recreational shopping to become a thing of the past. It’s not just that we have gotten out of the habit, it’s that we have come to question why we did it in the first place.

I buy a lot from Amazon Warehouse. Returns, box damaged, etc. where items cannot be sold as new. Sometimes, the deals are completely crap. Sometimes, it’s stupid cheap. Usually it’s somewhere in between that.
A while back – did I need four AC1900 routers? No. Did I buy them anyway since they were less than $2 total? Yes.
(Actually, I ordered five, but one showed up as a 1000w amp. I didn’t complain.)
I’ve bought stuff for 4 cents because it would cost Amazon more just to fulfill it. Samsung Qi charger - 51 cents, even though my phone doesn’t support wireless charging.
Somewhat more spendy, I’ve bought several NVMe drives recently, because even with the lower prices nowadays, it wasn’t cheap enough. 500 GB WD SN570 for under $20 and 1TB for under $30 – I’ll bite.
The drawback is that items can be a hit and miss depending on who checked the item – so test within the 30 day return period. Also manufacturers are not obligated to honor any warranties since items are sold as used.
At this point I mostly check for nostalgia. There’s really much I want. Casemates was doing better until I had an HVAC unit flood my apartment and ruin several cases of reds in the resultant lack of climate control for two months. I’m still slowly dumping them. Oh well. I’ll keep an eye and grab one again this fall and enjoy the occasional lab rat bottle in the meantime.
@blaineg We have cats, they have dogs. Their dogs freak out in the dark if they see our cats on our back deck and make the dogs go inside immediately or have to stand out side with them the entire time. They’ll be spending a lot of cold, dark potty breaks this winter. Call it petty revenge for the bright as fuck light they have shining in my window for the last month.
@Cerridwyn I was looking at the car lighter car phone charger but they were sold out but finally decided as long as I have a spare it I don’t need any more even if they only would have been $7 with the coupon.
It was never about wanting to buy. It was always about buying stuff and not knowing why you did

@riceatusc @werehatrack And we’re running out of space, and have better uses for the money.
@brainmist @riceatusc @werehatrack who has money? Also i miss the super cheap stuff. Meh feels like amazons garage sale now.

@narfcake You must have a lot of storage space!
@narfcake
So how do you locate these serious warehouse bargains?
I buy from the warehouse, but usually only specific stuff I want that second.
@f00l The stupid cheap stuff is often timing and luck. And a lot on the luck part.

The modern condition
@Leovinus Yes.

@Jamileigh17 That sucks! Sorry dude…
I bought three sets of solar garden lights so I can piss off my neighbor this winter. Other than that it’s been very meh.
@kjady Is your neighbor easily irritated?

/youtube nothing from nothing makes nothing
@f00l
I did finally buy some random t-shirts. It’ll be interesting to see what I get. Results have been mixed in the past which is a win I guess.
Nothing here either. Other than the free with coupon cups. But I wouldn’t have bought them for $5.
Nothing yet. Mehbe the thermometer but it’s not enough to offset the IRK so…
Nothing for me. I haven’t even looked to be honest bc I don’t have $100 to throw away. And I’m trying to get rid of shit not get more of it.
Not even something that wants to make me use the $5 coupon so far

I know there’s an hour left, but I just don’t care.
Meh.
