Spooky Goat day one!
14I’m going to try to post something interesting/fun/scary/informative (one or more at a time) every day, but please bear in mind that I am notoriously lazy and also rarely keep my word.
In a stunningly unexpected turn, we’re going to start off with broadcast television! If you have access to MeTV and like Svengoolie, they’re kicking off the season with a four-hour event beginning at 6 pm central time–Svengoolie is showing Trilogy of Terror starring the talented Karen Black, followed by an hour-long special, Svengoolie Uncrypted. After that, the hour-long premier of season 2 of Sventoonie, a horror-themed comedy show starring a fish puppet parody of Svengoolie, of which I am a surprisingly big fan. They have stuff planned all month, it’s explained here:

If you don’t have access to MeTV and/or hate Svengoolie, here’s a link to Trilogy of Terror on youtube:
Tomorrow: something else.

Good choice! I’m going to watch the last segment this morning. And thanks for the link- they still haven’t fixed their stupid antenna so I can’t get MeTV.
I do get Comet which has a bunch of Night Gallery episodes followed by Elvira all evening.
We’re pretty short on TVs in the house so I went shopping. The first two Goodwills had exactly zero TVs but the third thrift store had one (vintage 2008). For $18. I brought it home, hooked up an antenna, and searched for channels. Guess what it found?
METV! IT’S A SPOOKY SEASON MIRACLE!
I’m pretty sure it’s because of the crazy heavy cloud cover from Ian and will disappear when the sun comes out. But you never know. And it gets Comet so score!
@sammydog01 so, silver lining then!
@sammydog01 As the nights grow longer and the moon waxes and wanes, as the veil between the worlds thins and spirits clamour for entrance, sometimes it improves tv reception.
@sammydog01 if you want some CRTs I have two you can have. I think they are 32inch and heavy as fuck. I hate to think what shipping would be or odds of them arriving intact.
@unksol I can buy a flat screen with a built in DVD player for eighteen dollars. Thanks anyway.
@sammydog01 lol sounded like you were looking for some ancient tvs is all. I think my vizio woot tv is circa 2008.
Edit maybe 2010

@unksol Nah I’m just cheap.
Svengoolie is on! And I watched the Three Stooges! And I have to get up every few minutes to mess with the antenna! Just like the good old days.
@sammydog01
Do you feel like a kid again?
@sammydog01 It truly is a spooky season miracle! I’m so happy for you.
@mossygreen @Kyeh If only my brother was here so we could argue about who has to hold the antenna in the only position without snow.
It’s Tombstone!
@mossygreen Did I miss something?
@sammydog01 He’s my favorite Svengoolie sidekick, they don’t use him very much anymore. He used to have a cigar.
It’s Doug! Who’s on every week it’s not a big deal.
@mossygreen That was really fun! I hope my antenna works next Saturday.
@sammydog01 It’s always a crapshoot, isn’t it? MeTV disappeared for a couple of days last week, and I was worried, and while it’s super-strong now, MeTV+ is not great and I lost three other stations, including whichever one is showing The Rockford Files, which means I’m going to become obsessed with Little House on the Prairie again if I’m not careful.
Anyway, you’re sticking around for Kolchak later, right?
@mossygreen Maybe- it’s kind of late for me.
@mossygreen Ooh Richard Kiel. I’ll try to stay awake.
@mossygreen The over the air spirits are still with me and I’m watching Svengoolie. Crappy sci-if movies are wonderful.
I’m glad they brought a woman on the rocket ship to make sandwiches.
@sammydog01 Yay! The Spooky Season miracle continues!
