I always like seeing this come up. It looks like a lot of fun. Unfortunately this is one of those toys that just seems overpriced. Meh has it at a good price compared to other places, but it should be $50 retail. $68? No way. I bought a Syma quadcopter with camera for about $50 from Amazon. Great pricing! Remote control ball costs more? When with the madness end?!
@darksaber99999 I was wondering how dogs would react. I would think it's either the best way ever to teach a dog fetch, or an expensive lesson in pet stubbornness.
@cranky1950 I think they keep coming back because ONE person (a buyer) had that unnatural attraction while everyone else in mehrica could not possibly care less about it.
Interestingly enough, I convinced my principal to purchase one of these for my classroom. In my Technology class we used this ball for a wide variety of programming applications. Students were able to essentially write code to control the ball to complete a wide variety of tasks. Kids had a blast with this, its a shame I'm a broke teacher.
I guess you missed that Disney in an attempt tobdribe up its stock is firing a ton of american workers and forcing them to train their cheaper foreign replacements.
Uh-oh, a robot with no off switch, no access to the batteries, and it lights up and phones home for daily updates. I've seen this before, and you don't want to be around when these things hatch....
I got one of these last time they came around (in fact I think it was my first-ever Meh purchase). I don't get to play with it as much as I like, and surprisingly the little sucker is addictive, at least for me. (Plus the cats don't know WHAT THE HELL it is or whether it's a threat, so that just adds to the entertainment value.)
Kids go ape for it as soon as they see it, though. If you have kids, get one! They'll love it and it's pretty darn durable for a high-tech toy. Plus the nubby cover makes it work great in water (it floats with or without the cover, but without the cover it gets like zero traction while floating) so, bath toy!
ok, $68.00 is too much for a cat/dog toy. When I was a kid (long, long time ago) I had gerbils, and a big clear plastic ball and you would put the gerbil in it and it would roll all over the house. It was pretty entertaining until it came to the stairs and then you ran as fast as you could to save it.
So I held out for the other offerings of this, when it was the "limited edition" partially clear one, but you finally got me Meh. ablaze-romantic-apricot
fingers crossed come on orange nubby...or should I say apricot? ;)
@Pufferfishy What's so hard to understand about a cool-as-hell programmable phone-controlled color-changing robot ball? RC cars are pretty popular and they just do one thing and people have fun driving those around, why wouldn't a robot ball that you drive on water and program to spell out words and stuff be fun too?
@JonT I guess it's just me - this does not seem to have the same attraction as something like an RC car. But I have to capitulate that looking at entry level prices for decent representations of both this is a relative bargain.
@Pufferfishy@JonT We have the 1.0 version and if you like RC anythings, this is right in there. Add augmented reality into the mix (could rolling over virtual zombies popping out of your floor be any more fun?) and it's really something. This is a great price for a fun toy. We don't use ours much anymore, but for the first few months we really had a ball (har, har).
I'm in for one based on the edutainment / programming aspect...that way my kids can play with it for a 1/2 day then never touch it again, yielding yet another disappointment for me by their never once even attempting to program it!
Agh! I'm very tempted to buy this to mess around with my Corgi, but I have 4 helicopters. That includes the CX-10 Meh was selling a bit ago. The ball might not even be corgi proof.
Wait, you can get a micro drone with HD camera for the same price. I don't get it....They should make the ball see through and put a balanced/floating cam in there for that price. Meh!!!
My son just spent three hours playing with! A little challenging at first, but he's pretty good at it now! Not sure I'd pay the full price that retail is asking, but the Meh price was perfect! Thanks for having these for us that like a just for fun toy!

No, this not the droid I'm looking for.....
i miss the neoprenelicious deals of yesteryear
fuck is this thing?
a ball? you want me to pay 70 bucks for a ball? meh.
@boygenius1991 a controlled-by-your-phone programmable robot ball. That lights up.
@JonT Valiant effort. Still nope.
Can we get some shoes on that kid
Great. More bluetooth controlled robots. 2012 called, they want their Christmas impulse items back.
Holy Meh.

I got the limited edition one for the same price here.
@darksaber99999 When's the last time it rolled?
@Ryaneil A few weeks ago. It drives the dog nuts.
@darksaber99999 I was wondering how dogs would react. I would think it's either the best way ever to teach a dog fetch, or an expensive lesson in pet stubbornness.
-Claps hands slowly and rapidly builds up speed-
Looks like something my students will have fun with:
mandatory-damaging-juice
@Rstoker Special ed?
$70 for a remote control ball
@UncleBeardface did you really exist prior to seeing this pic - and straring it?
@RedOak What can I say? I knows what I likes.
Bought it last time, was fun for a week. Haven't touched it since. I'm hoping to use it for an office mini-golf contest... We'll see...
@mehdaf I was tempted last time and seriously considering it this time. Thanks for the splash of cold water in the face. Avoided one more time.
Boooooo! Boo this robot ball! Booooo!
The droid I'm looking for is more XBMC than BB8.
@nadroj I wish they couldda made the head flop up and down like a southpark canadian.
I dunno I think these keep coming back because someone at meh has an unnatural attraction to the nubbyies.

@studerc Great idea. Not sure I can reach him in time, but I'll ask my son's Eng-Tech / Robotics teacher if he's interested.
I just need a charger for one.
@Drunkenalien you're in luck! For the low low price of $68 we'll ship you a charger!
we'll throw in a Sphero 2.0 and a Nubby cover!
Kind of cool concept but I'd probably play with it once and never again. For $15 maybe, $68, I'll leave it for all you rich folk.
@Stallion The rich folk became rich because they didn't spend their money on frivolous items. Bastards.
I guess you missed that Disney in an attempt tobdribe up its stock is firing a ton of american workers and forcing them to train their cheaper foreign replacements.
All hail Disney and the dollar
@msujp Disney has sucked since Michael Eisner touched it. Walt called and wants his company back.
Walt was even more ruthless.
Does this really make a great dog toy? How long can I return if my dogs murder it? They are three yorkies .

If I want to watch something roll around the house, I will just watch my wife!
Makin Bacon Pancakes? You take the bacon and you put it in the pancake?
lol - I seriously can't believe that even one of these ever sold. Just throw your money in the fucking trashcan and save time.

@JonT these will sell even more once the star wars version comes out
@Pufferfishy @JonT We have the 1.0 version and if you like RC anythings, this is right in there. No Meh, I do not want to touch your "nubby".
I'm in for one based on the edutainment / programming aspect...that way my kids can play with it for a 1/2 day then never touch it again, yielding yet another disappointment for me by their never once even attempting to program it!

Looks like this deal made cNet:
http://www.cnet.com/news/get-a-sphero-2-0-for-68-build-your-own-bb-8-droid/
Congratulations Meh, fame at last!
Wait, you can get a micro drone with HD camera for the same price. I don't get it....They should make the ball see through and put a balanced/floating cam in there for that price. Meh!!!
Im kinda shocked they made it to the 250 mark bravo!!!!
I kind of want one. For the um, educational programming lessons it would give my, er, kids. Yep.
If next star wars movies are anything like the prequels then meh! It's going to be bad
My son just spent three hours playing with! A little challenging at first, but he's pretty good at it now! Not sure I'd pay the full price that retail is asking, but the Meh price was perfect! Thanks for having these for us that like a just for fun toy!
This is the dumbest toy I've ever played with. If it had a face, I'd punch it.
