24x Spectrum Noir TriBlend 72 Color Blendable Alcohol Markers
@Kidsandliz but will the box say “Essential Blend” or “Deep Blend”? That’s a recurring complaint in the comments; perhaps Meh bought the pallets of misprinted boxes.
I’m confused as to what the deal is with these. Is this just 72 short stubby markers but only 24 caps and you have to stick three together when you’re done so they don’t dry out?
They make a big deal out of mixing, but I don’t see how the mixing is supposed to work when they’re end to end like that. Not unless you’re just drawing over an earlier line to change the shade.
@jandrese I think the short answer is no. It’s more like 48 markers (half of them being double-tipped, so to speak) paired up to make 24 markers. Look at the 4th pic for more clarity.
(Each marker is light colored at one end, stuck to another short marker which is medium colored at the connecting side, then dark colored at the far end.)
@jandrese The blending does happen on paper. Alcohol markers blend very well and having the next shade on hand is actually pretty convenient. Quality improves with a sturdy paper that can handle the amount of ink you’ll be putting down.
Wow, this is an amazing deal if you like coloring with alcohol markers! I love Spectrum Noir markers, they’re a decent substitute for much more expensive Copics and I already have a bit of collection (but nowhere near all of these colors).
If you haven’t used alcohol markers before, they’re wonderful for detailed coloring and shading. By layering a single or multiple colors, you can achieve fairly smooth gradients/blends that aren’t possible with water-based markers — and they don’t bleed or rough up soft paper like water-based markers, either. If you ever go to a convention and get a little quick piece of art drawn by your favorite comic or graphic artist, odds are good they’re using alcohol markers (but probably the pricier ones).
@saramwrap Suppose a kid gets their hands on this kit and then runs off from a half finished pièce de résistance leaving 20 markers splayed around (60 exposed tips).
How long would it take for the markers to dry out beyond recovery?
@mwarren Quick drying is both a pro and a con with alcohol markers, though they don’t dry out instantly. If they were just abandoned for a little bit of time, like an afternoon, they might be ok after you find them and pop the tops back on … or sometimes you can wet a dry tip with isopropyl alcohol (some people use water but that doesn’t make as much sense to me). But I could definitely see this killing some of them.
@saramwrap Wow, the email version of this post is illegible

Drink up!
@yakkoTDI Is this deal for an alcohol markerita? Does the recipient have to be 21 or over?
Someone suggested that Art supplies are well received here…
Expose yourself to Art, and he’ll be quite surprised.
What the heck is wrong with meh? These are 5 star on amazon with precious few complaints. Under other circumstances I’d buy a box.
@Kidsandliz but will the box say “Essential Blend” or “Deep Blend”? That’s a recurring complaint in the comments; perhaps Meh bought the pallets of misprinted boxes.
@Kidsandliz @mwarren This is the Essentials Blend kit. The complaints were from people receiving the wrong box from Amazon.
Colours. Fancy.
anybody know what proof these are? I don’t see it in the specs anywhere…

@jandrese Well said.
So glad these don’t roll. The last one rolled off the table, rolled on to the floor
And then my poor marker rolled out of the door
@rmeden Did it roll through the garden and under a bush??
@caalsio @rmeden And did the market become all mush?
@caalsio @hchavers @rmeden it rolled through the street, past pedestrians’ feet, down a hill to the sea, where swimmers did pee…
@caalsio @hchavers @rmeden @warpedrotors
When the next swimmer jumped into that sea of pee, he turned into a strange creature that…
I’ve an ink-ling that these aren’t going to do well.
That’s only like .65 cents ea. for 72 different colored drinks!! Well worth it.
@bugger
Did you see the size though? Are you a bird?
(No offense Walter) @Felton10
@Felton10 @Lynnerizer Your right. Size does matter

@saramwrap It’s also good to note that these are all bullet nibs. Great for fine detail but you won’t be laying down great swaths of color.

@DoctorOW Sorry, the classified secrets were redacted.
How creative. Joe is making a difference!
My daughter is into water coloring and at this price it’s worth venturing into something new
@Larry1977
Good luck to her! I’d love to see some of her artwork! I used to do pen & ink w/watercolors, it’s a longtime favorite!
I wish I were talented enough to consider getting these. Someday…someday…
Perfect, glad to hear they are good for artists (which I am not) but my niece certainly is, great upcoming b-day present!

@outdoorslife Meh. It’s a lot of money for a present that looks like you spent $10 on.
I might still get them for my wife, though. She’ll know what they cost because she sees every damn transaction on our card(s).
@outdoorslife OR, instead of buying them I can wait for them in my next IRK.
I am gonna get so art drunk on these.
/giphy ruddy-nimble-shrew
artist child very excited.
Craft stuff? Yeah!
This was a great price. Much cheaper than the CTMH price of $189.00. Rec’d mine today, a week early. Yeah
