@phendrick spicy, hot soup in summer is almost like the inverse of brain freeze. But it’s much worse after the first 30 seconds. Until you realize that you’ve stopped pouring sweat and suddenly feel amazing!
@hchavers That reminds me, my favorite local Tex-Mex restaurant had the BEST gazpacho on the specials menu last summer. God, I hope they’ll be doing that again…I made a special trip at the end of the season just to order that & some sadist in the kitchen neglected to prep it that day, so I’ve had a craving for months!
I had soup the other day with 90 degree weather because I freeze with the AC set to 73.
Throw the jalapenos and rotel tomatoes in, enjoy the soup, sweat and cool off!
That’s why food in southern climes is spicy.
@phendrick I thought maybe it was to mask the taste of food rotting in the heat.

But, what’s a rotel tomato?

(sometimes you see it with a hyphen as ro-tel, sometimes not)
@00 @phendrick I use Rotel in a lot of my soups and chili. It is a great invention.
Gazpacho Soup please.

Cereal.
Watermelon soup.
@mike808 wwhhhaaaa?? Is that a real thing?
@tinamarie1974 Sure. Like a Bloody Mary is “Tomato Soup” served in a glass and you don’t need a spoon. Straw optional.
Cold borscht. Try it. Beetmania.
When I was a kid and my ice cream used to melt in the bowl before I could eat it all, I would call that ice cream soup…does that count?

Another vote for “just eat it, the temp is irrelevant for me”. My summer thermostat setting never drops below 79F.
Cucumber, avocado, broth, yogurt, herb of choice, maybe a chili pepper and/or some cumin, salt, black pepper, blend, chill, voila.
Gazpacho, pick your recipe and chill…
At a restaurant sure, at my house probably not.
Yes.
