SOLD OUT
4You guys sold out when you sold Woot to Amazon. The site that we loved is now just another overpriced outlet for the same stuff you can buy on Amazon. And your new site is really Meh. I cant say that I’ve ever seen anything on the site that was remotely interesting. You need to get out of whatever NDA or agreement you have with the mothership and start selling things like you did when you were Woot. Stuff that people actually wanted to buy and that wasn’t just Meh. Who the heck is doing the purchasing? They should think about finding a new job. Until then you will always be “Meh”.

/giphy “‘meh” about meh”

@f00l I plan to get off his lawn ASAP!
Try their other sites on stores.com. so many amazing items at crazy low prices.
@medz Eh, sometimes crazy-low, but often just “decent”. Such is the nature of the beast today.
@medz @werehatrack rarely will something be crazy low. And if so, it’s usually a mistake.

Some of the Meh crew is from the the old Woot. And Meh couldn’t open until the end of the contractual non-compete from the sale. I very much doubt that Snapster had any NDAs to worry about. But at this point, Meh has become the beloved legacy appendage rather than the main subject for the umbrella outfit that grew from it.
@werehatrack Hrmmm …

@mediocrebot Eyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Like it! The software engineers are almost 4 little dwarves. Cinderalla knock-off in the offing.

@shawn why do I feel like making soap?
@shawn Can we talk about Breakfast Octopuses then??

@mediocrebot @MrGoodGuy Hollandaise sauce is never red.
@Kyeh According to Google AI it can be! (see below
) And Jeff can afford to tint it red with the World’s most expensive red wine, the 1945 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (DRC) Romanée-Conti Grand Cru, which fetched $558,000 (and up to over $812,000 in subsequent landmark private/auction movements).
@Kyeh @MrGoodGuy
Blasphemy! Just because you can doesn’t mean you should…
@sillyheathen… Care to weigh in on this?
@chienfou @Kyeh @sillyheathen OK, fine. I’ll get @mediocrebot to help me please the purists on here but Jeff may not approve.
/showme a photorealistic image of Jeff Bezos sadly devouring a huge platter of Octopuses covered in yellow hollandaise sauce for breakfast that’s been served on solid gold plates and he’s eating them with diamond encrusted solid gold and platinum forks. He is thinking to himself while he eats “I feel like a lowly peasant being served this fine meal with plain old yellow sauce. Hmph!!”.

@chienfou @MrGoodGuy @sillyheathen
Jeff’s probably tacky enough to do that (make red hollandaise, I mean.)
@chienfou @Kyeh @MrGoodGuy I’m going to concur with the mad dog on this one. Definitions matter. I despise most marketing as they rely on ridiculous tactics to persuade people to buy products. One of those is normalizing riding on etymological bandwagons that change the definition of a thing entirely. We have definitions for a reason. Don’t get me started on “uncured” cured meat. There is no such thing as uncured bacon. If it’s uncured, it’s just pork belly.
Whilst the ingredients for hollandaise may differ a tiny in the realm of seasoning, it’s an emulsified butter sauce. You’d have to add so much paprika or seasoning, that it would change the definition of what you’re eating because that would change the entire profile of the sauce. And don’t EVEN suggest adding artificial food coloring. That shit is for fondant, or decorating confections, not for making a sunny colored sauce into what would look like marinara. I’m not even sure why red hollandaise came up. Now I need to reread all of it.
@Kyeh @MrGoodGuy and this is where they just need to call it something else. Because once you start adding flavors that completely detract from the original, it’s no longer the same thing. I mean beurre blanc and hollandaise look similar but if you tried to call them the same, you’d just be wrong. They have similar ingredients but they’re just not the same. Red hollandaise is a shite attempt from someone trying to be unique or clever by adding color or additional flavor but failing.
@chienfou @Kyeh @MrGoodGuy of course he is. Then he can bottle it and sell it on Amazon and have people, who work their arses off whilst not being allowed to take breaks or have benefits so he can try to fly to space like a big boy again, put it in borg boxes and deliver it to your front door without doing anything other than thinking red hollandaise will sell to some poor sucker who thinks it sounds fancy.
@chienfou @MrGoodGuy @sillyheathen

You’re concurring with ME:

@chienfou @Kyeh @MrGoodGuy I’m concurring with you and Maddog.
Red hollandaise is not a thing. Not even if someone decides to make it or call it that. It’s not red. If it’s red, it isn’t hollandaise.
@chienfou @Kyeh @MrGoodGuy @sillyheathen
Wow quite a hollandaise dust-up!
I’m cool with that. A great sauce is worth a few concerns about purity and authenticity and not becoming some emulsified manufactured advertised nonsense.
—
That said; I think the original mention of “red hollandaise” was intended satirically, as a joke pointing at the unmatched vulgarity of Mr Bezos.
Because Mr Bezos, within his current public persona, is the sort of guy who almost certainly would create and market “red hollandaise”, were he primarily in the “competition for grocery store shelf space” business.

@sillyheathen
Well said. The discussion about “chemical” and “organic” came up during the ozone sprayer sale discussion. I think it’s a good idea here come up with some other word or *portmanteau" for these situations.
@Kyeh
Yes. You were absolutely the (correct) catalyst for this discussion. Bravo!
@f00l @Kyeh @MrGoodGuy @sillyheathen
Is it just me, or does that second picture look sadly like Kraft mac and cheese sauce!
@chienfou @f00l @Kyeh @MrGoodGuy @sillyheathen
Well, that is the standard by which all hollandaise is judged…
@macromeh

@chienfou @f00l @MrGoodGuy @sillyheathen It also looks like the cheese dip they sell for corn chips (which is terrible!
)
