@duodec I grabbed one, and so far it appears to be working, but the power brick seems sketchy, and the unit has not yet seen many cycles. I’m tossing in log entries on the thread as I get more data.
So, what, is there “good stuff” in this Mehrathon?
Personally, I have seen nothing I have had the burning desire to spend money on. (The inflatable turkey was tempting, but I have way too much useless crap already.)
@Felton10@Huffie86 And the refurbished shark vacuum I bought some years ago was great. And they were selling all that higher end cooking stuff more recently although I didn’t buy any as I don’t like to cook so all I need is the basic stuff I already have.
@Felton10 Many of the knives were excellent. (Not the Ginsu, obviously.) Many of the snacks, not so much. Some of it is gold, some pyrite, some fairy gold. And then there are the occasional ones that are just WTF? Those latter ones can sometimes be gold for the right buyer, too.
@Felton10@Huffie86 Can you tell me more about your Blendtec experience?
We don’t really use our blender all that often, and it’s a cheap Hamilton Beach model that was thirty or forty dollars eighteen years ago.
There is no chance we’re suddenly going to become “smoothie every day” people.
As such, I am assuming that the benefits of a high-end blender would be minimal for us, but I’m sure there are things I don’t know.
@Felton10@Huffie86@Limewater If your Hamilton Beach is doing the job for you, and you have no burning desire to do a few specific things like achieve a better frozen beverage, then the Blendtec probably doesn’t have a lot to offer for you. We have one, and it replaced an even more ancient Hamilton Beach than yours (early '80s vintage). It sits next to the Oster than had been an upgrade from the old HB. There’s a lot of hype around high-power blenders, but the things they can do better than a “normal” unit are really pretty limited. The more you use a blender, and the larger the amounts of material that you run through it, the more it might make sense to upgrade, but that’s a call only you can make. The hype is largely hype.
@blaineg That’s a damn nice unit. I wish I wasn’t already committed to the Ryobi battery system, because I would really prefer to have one of those instead of the Ryobi equivalent.
@werehatrack I’ve mostly got Porter Cable stuff, because there was a big bundle deal Woot years ago. But the DeWalt impact gun hopelessly outclassed the P-C version, so it was worth complicating my battery life. Now I’m addling little brother to this monster.
@blaineg@werehatrack Don’t know how this (d)evolved into power tool talk, but I got the M12 “stubby” impact wrench (3/8”) last year. had a tree crew in at $$$/day and was frustrated watching them try to fix teeth on their stump grinder with hand tools. So I dug the little M12 out and it quickly fixed what they needed, and I got more ‘useful’ work out of them that day since I was already paying for a full day might as well keep them working…
Power thingie? If you mean the Puleida battery widget of debated virtue, it’s not part of the 'Thon.
@werehatrack and it wasn’t that good of a power thingy even at the price.

Inflatable turkey
@sammydog01 much fewer calories than a real turkey.

I’d do a t-shirt except … I already have too many and they’re $1) which isn’t exactly cheap.
@f00l $1? That would have been really cheap!
@f00l @Kyeh I’d buy that for a dollar!

Don’t you know by now, if meh got it to sell, it was never good stuff.
@Felton10 sometimes there is real good stuff for a real good price. That Blend-Tec blender I got was an amazing price.

@Felton10 @werehatrack Got Ginsu in an IRK not sure what to do with ‘em.

Will it blend?

The mustache sets were pretty awe some.
This.
I bought it instead of any of the Meh crap. No regret either.

@werehatrack To be clear, the older model was $110 on Woot. The current one cost me $150.
@blaineg I assume you have discovered Torque Test Channel on YoooToob…
@werehatrack Yes, good stuff. Very helpful in deciding between the old and new models of the compact impact wrench.

@blaineg @pmarin There are worse places that a thread can veer off into. I bet those tree guys were surprised by your impact.
