@amehzinggrace@Trillian oh yes, I always say that “like George Costanza, I’ve always wanted to be an architect.” Although if memory serves, he also wanted to be Jerry’s latex salesman…
I’m sorry to hear that. Where do you live? I have a really good friend that is a recruiting manager in the civil eng / architecture industry. Whisper @ me so I can reach out to him to see if is connected to anyone in your neck of the woods.
@amehzinggrace Did they at least let you keep the stapler? Maybe you can get away to a beach somewhere and have a few mai tais before getting back into things.
Hey Meh…maybe ya’ll need some warehouse workers?..I mean I know how to sweep floors…although I can’t get you references for that…the floors at my house are an exception ok…dont judge…
Been furloughed for a month. That means they still want you and are willing to continue to pay your benefits while you sit at home until more work comes.
This must be a shock to the system, even if you saw it coming. Hang in there.
And - I hope - be creative about future possibilities? I hope that either your prev situation comes back to life, or that you can find some possibilities you look forward to checking out.
I guess you are on the leading edge of the predicted white collar layoffs. That is really awful! I hope it doesn’t last long. And I hope you live in one of the states that hasn’t totally fucked up their unemployment processing so that you actually see the money prior to starting back to work.
Been there. Sucks don’t it. “What do you do?” is an awful party question.
The best jobs I’ve had over the years were never advertised. (old advice, but true) Try to put the word out you’re looking for a new opportunity. Good luck!
That sucks. I hope you find something soon.
@Thumperchick me too…although technically the office says they want to bring us back…but the work needs to come in…
I’m so sorry! Being an architect is my dream job.

@amehzinggrace @moonhat @Trillian let us not forget my favorite
@amehzinggrace @tinamarie1974 @Trillian such a great name. Almost as good as Buck Naked

They did this on a Friday, were the Bobs around by chance?
KuoH
@kuoh kinda…although they go by other names…and they did it en masse…you know…to save time…plus rip the band-aid off right?

@kuoh a beach actually seems refreshing right now

The other option is firing you. This is fine.
Sux. Wow.

Me too, axed June 1. Hopefully can hold on a couple more years until Medicare. Not quite how I envisioned my “golden years.”
I got terminated last Wednesday after 15 years with the company. Feels like somebody stole my identity.

@dhelmick56
Hey me too, but I was only at my company five years.
