@cmafba But it’s so easy to build your own. There’s no soldering, just a little hot glue and double sided tape action.
I thought there was a thread on here about building a Pi Cart but search is failing me. A whole system in an old NES cartridge is a great setup.
@thismyusername There have been dubbed versions of the Japanese one for awhile, I’m sure it won’t be long before the exact version on the snes classic shows up online.
SNES Mini will certainly be easier to use, you don’t have to hunt for ROMs and it certainly looks good. Bet the controller will feel like the original too. I hated the boxy NES controller corners as they would bite into my hands after a while.
RetroPie isn’t all that difficult to set up provided you get a decent Raspberry Pi kit, can follow the tutorials, and know where to get the ROMs from. A wired controller can simplify matters as well.
The re-worked version of Starfox2 is playable on RetroPie but is buggy in areas.
Still want an SNES Mini despite having a good RetroPie setup with a zillion games, most of which I will probably never play lol.
I have one on preorder but I only want it for the controllers so I can use them on my Wii. It’s only slightly more than getting adapters these days, and I get a goofy box to…do something with.
Honestly, it’s only for the convenience of not doing it yourself, and for being the only way (until someone makes a ROM of it FROM the SNES classic) to get a 100% complete copy of starfox 2. If it runs like the nes classic does, then it won’t be a PERFECT emulator, but it’ll still be a better emulator than a pi would be. The only way to run Roms of nes and SNES games better would be on an everdrive on the original consoles themselves. Just the facts.
perceived rarity*.
*they will be making quite a few more snes minis than they did the nes minis, so if your out for collectors value go for the nes mini.
Retro pie rules. Game quantity trumps the looks of the box.
Best pre-loaded retro pie rig? I had my eye on an Etsy listing. Any other suggestions where I could find a preloaded asymbled one with controller

@cmafba there are no legal pre-loaded retro pies that I am aware of, where are you seeing this?
Oh oh I know, it’s because you want StarFox2…

That’s a reason. There are no wrong answers
I have a NES mini, want a SNES mini and I want to build a cool retro-pie.

I can do about as much with a raspberry pi as your average grandma, and I was able to make a retro pi that works great.. Ignoring controllers, I think the whole thing cost like $25?
I’m still gonna try to get a snes classic, but that’s probably to resell because I’m scum.
@Moose There’s the thread I was trying to find earlier! Thanks!
Who am I kidding. I’ll buy both. I buy Meh’s mediocre crap without a second thought.

Retro Pi, 'cause I’m a #maker. And I’ll 3D print that sweet NES case, too.
NES Retro Pi case STL
@mythereal And if you really have to have the SNES version, well, here ya go:
