SLOW SHIPPING
0I ordered my first thing from meh.com last week (backpack) and the shipping is less than impressive (Fedex smartpost) which means Fedex carries it so far and then USPS gets it and then takes their sweet time to complete the shipping. It is taking over a week. I bought backpack for a trip I leave for on This Fri. and looks like it will not be here until I am gone.

My personal/possibly inaccurate observation:
The shipping has improved drastically since the dark ages of meh.
Still, I feel for your loss. It can be a bummer. I try to think of it like a fun bonus. Order things then forget about them then BOOM fun surprises in the mail.
(YMMV)
@connorbush Even more of a fun surprise with Meritline shipping from China. For most things, even if I've forgotten about it, when I get it I'll remember what it is, "Oh yay! My (fill-in-blank) came!"
With Meritline it is frequently, "Huh? What the fuck? I ordered something?" (opens package) "Cool! I can use this thing! I'd completely forgotten about it!"
(Yes, I really talk like that, even when no one else is around.)
Yep, we've been doing it this way for nearly two years now. Comes with the territory of being able to offer the lowest possible price on most of our deals. We even mention the slow shipping in our FAQ:
Shipping’s always $5, and free for VMP members (see below). So yeah, we’re going to ship it the slowest and cheapest way we can possibly find. Usually that’s Smartpost or Surepost, which starts with FedEx or UPS and ends with the post office. It’ll probably be 2 weeks before you get it. And no you can’t get it any faster.
I do hope you're able to get your bag before your trip though. Bag-less trips are the worst.
@MEHcus @shawn Any chance of offering expedited shipping in the future? maybe VMP pays another $5 and others pay $10? or something like that, I don't know logistics well enough to be sure what those numbers would look like.
Hey @Leeknox. I looked into your order. Here's the timeline I see:
For shipments picked up on Thursdays traveling to your state we see an average of 5.8 days of transit time until delivered. However it averages 6.8 days if you drill down further to nearby postal codes.
We'd expect your package to arrive today or tomorrow based on the data we're seeing, but FedEx is saying to expect it Fri 5/13/2016 by end of day. It's possible delay is in part due to weather. FedEx has a service alert:
@shawn Hey! 5 or 6 days isn't bad, I think my recent orders have taken closer to 12-14 days
Sooo... technically, meh has super fast shipping (1-day), but FedEx and USPS have super-slow delivery. Your subject line should have read:
SUPER-FAST SHIPPING BUT SLOW DELIVERY
Amazon has a special service called Prime. For an extra fee, it includes two day shipping -- and some items even have same day delivery.

Also, Meh is pretty clear about their shipping policy...

@Kevin Fuck off Kevin. You know I'm going to have to reply that every time you post.
@sammydog01 I know a guy who was stabbed because of doing something like that
Meh is great and awesome but it is a kinda "It gets here when it gets here" site. Sometimes when stuff comes am surprised - forgot I ordered. And my zip is <50 miles from Meh.
Still happy. When am in a hurry, Amazon or local.
Good news is your tiny violin has arrived:
It's actually "sous vide shipping". Be patient.
If you desperately need a new backpack before your trip and you're worried, grab one from walmart then return it when you're done with it.
@Pantheist normally I'd say that free-rental game is a slimy move. But since wallyworld is detestable, never mind.
@RedOak that's why I specify walmart ;)
It's not USPS' fault it takes forever to arrive. It's usually a 2 day turnaround from sort facility to "out for delivery". The transit to the USPS sort facility is what takes a few days.
Watching the paint dry, Tra-La!
Pro Tip: look in the specs area for the estimated delivery info for a given product. (Guessed you ordered the Targus Drifter bag)
So in your case, it might make it on time based upon what Meh forecast. Or the word "Estimated" certainly gives them some wiggle room. The order was a bit of a gamble if you needed it by 5/13.
