SideDeal VMP IRK Reveal – November 2020 edition

This is more the shipping we know and love. Mine didn’t come yesterday. Now it says it will come today (grin).

@Kidsandliz It’s difficult to do something nice for someone on the spur of the moment, but something popped up this morning and I took advantage of it, but now the sidedeal IRKs are all gone.

Knew an IRK would pop up first thing this morning after the 90 minute conglomeration of junk (I missed getting the IRK last night). And it just so happened to be our daughter’s 47 birthday today and she had been bugging me forever to send her a IRK aka BOC. And that is exactly what I did-I snagged one and sent it to her.

Surely that would have been worthy of an IRK-to give up your prized IRK to another.

At the risk of harshing the buzz, there are some of us who are not working from home. We are getting our asses kicked in hospitals/clinics in states where 40% positivity rate is an improvement. While visiting the meh forums can be an enjoyable distraction, there’s not much time for a deep dive into the fun and games.

@mtb002 thanks for working the frontline. You deserve better than an IRK anyway.

Heh, thanks. I apologize for the “tone.” It’s just frustration with life spilling over. I’m grateful to have a job, really. I just wish that we weren’t so badly needed right now.

@mtb002 I tell you what. For the cost of postage I’ll send you a bunch of stuff out of my irks, including an irk bag if you want. I got the VMP one and the one before that and one in Oct (after a drought). There is nothing spectacular in them though so be warned. I can toss in a few other things to make it a bit better.

@mtb002 @RogerWilco @seraphmonkey … my main responsibility literally is to reduce risk for her. So I am super isolated to not potentially expose her and by extension her (very, very) sick patients. I also understand the plight of those who isolate for months very well. Isolation can be tough, too. We feel it at home, too.
My point is - some frontline worker’s families are affected in both ways.
But she can keep saving life and limb in the OR.

@mtb002 nah it wouldn’t have been second had regret. I would have taken all that is coming in the one that is supposed to be delivered today and added some junk. Maybe moved it to a smaller box so it would be cheaper to ship.

Bless and thank you, it’s a lovely thought. I think it would be put to better use donating to a local shelter or someone in need. I’m just whining, not actually hurting for anything. Thank you again for offering some comfort.

I ordered the speakers, then went back to look up the specs again. Once I clicked on the speakers, I scrolled down and the Irk was included in the list of items to buy. You couldn’t get it to pop up unless you clicked on a product, and scrolled down from there.
It gets very frustrating when people are all “in” on something that you can’t figure out. While it’s not closed, hope that helps a little.

Since I missed the last, last secret hunt for a vmp Irk that was in a broadcast, I now click and scroll on every possible link. Is it worth it? Probably not.
But it’s not fun when everybody else seems to be in on the joke, and you can’t figure it out. I’ll explain how I found the Irk in the vmp broadcast. I got to it by clicking on the link in that broadcast that lead me to a secret vmp side deal.

Broken and/or used isn’t always bad…I did once get a broken robot vacuum and the company honored the warranty on it, but actually ended up sending me a newer model because that one had ended production.

Actually the genetics side of what you do in there would be interesting. Had I not hated chemistry so much my PhD would have been in human genetics and not what I got it in. But being a stupid kid with no functioning frontal lobe I didn’t bite the bullet and just deal with it.

@Trillian Alright, pulled it out of the box. It comes with both a car power supply and a wall one. It has a pair of massaging heads, each with three nodes. I would describe the nodes as short, medium and long.

Press power, they start spinning. You can switch the direction they spin, and the “intensity” (speed) by three settings. There’s also heat, not sure how many levels or if it’s just on/off, and I didn’t specifically test it.

Again, noting that I am not the massage type… the nodes are what feels like hard plastic. There’s a bit of material between the plastic and your skin, but still feels a bit rough to me. I’m sure if you like deeper pressure that’s fine. I also felt the “long” node was personally too long, I might have liked a short and 2 mediums more.

Anyways, it seems like it performs the task, but I can’t really say how well, or offer any comparisons to a real massage. If you happen to be anywhere near Maryland, I’d be glad to ship you this one, might be a bit cheaper than buying one, but no worries if not, not everyone wants second hand stuff!

@walarney PB might get there first. My fed ex one has done the PB thing twice so far. Was supposed to get it yesterday. Then today. Keeps getting sent to the wrong city in my state. Right now it across town for what reasons I do not know. It now doesn’t give a delivery date either. On the other hand it has made it to my state at least much faster than PB. Of course it is taking the scenic route through the state. Sigh.

They have stepped up inexorably in the time of Covid.

@llabak - Haha! I thought you were referring to mehrathons. Yes, there have been a few Side Deal IRKs, as far as I know there were 2 for VMPs.

@tinamarie1974 yeah, mine was supposed to be delivered today but yesterday it went from two hours NW to two hours south and now it’s sitting an hour south… I don’t think it’ll make it.

@Kidsandliz yeah, smart post - it us a FedEx-USPS hybrid. That doesn’t explain the lack of movement though. FedEx is crippled right now due to increased volume from covid plus the Christmas peak. It will make it eventually

@Kidsandliz @tinamarie1974 it’s FedEx. It’s smartpost if it gets transferred to USPS. Sometimes it still makes it to you on the FedEx truck. These are regular FedEx.

@RiotDemon @tinamarie1974 Hmm… at one point mine said smartpost I think. I have no clue who delivered it as I was at the shelter doing laundry for them. But any way you look at it it is a heck of a lot faster than PB. That I appreciate.

1 Dollar Store Black Face Mask

1 Copper Care Grip Socks
1 Set of BBQ Grill Mats
1 New Dark Blue IRK bag

Nothing special like maybe a new roomba, an Oculus Rift or Playstation 5. Just your typical Dollar store meh junk. So other then the chance to score an IRK with a slow
connection, I guess VMP really isn’t all that after all.

HORRORS arrived home after 8 hours anxious to see what regret I had received and … Nothing… no box, no “tried to leave a package note” Nada, Zip, Zero. My only hope is that they accidentally logged it as delivered when they brought it back to the post office (It wasn’t delivered with the rest of my mail, which I received before heading to work).

@lehigh I received the exact same box. Kept a couple of the bag sets and donated the rest to the local second hand store that supports our animal shelter

@lehigh @opivp99 Yeppers. Got the exact same box and now visiting (with mask on) neighbors to see who has young children to give out the bags to.

@lehigh I also recieved the same items, minus the compact. While I don’t use gift bags myself, I do love the randomness of IRKs. I just need to find someplace to donate these gift bags plus the few Frozen gift bags from a previous IRK.
