I don’t get the hate for the current IRKs. I have always found things to pick up during the ‘thons, so in this case, it comes down to $10. Sometimes the IRKs are shitty, sometimes not, but usually they’re at least okay, sometimes great, and pretty much always at least $10 worth of at least mediocre shit.
That being said, if they’d done $100 again or made the IRK more than net $10, I probably would have passed.
Does no one remember when the majority of folks were big mad or devastated because they for whatever reason couldn’t get the timing? Not to mention the annoying AF, “I always get one; y’all are doing it wrong” bullshit from some people.
This is better. You want the IRK? You buys some shit and you takes your chances. Or you don’t. IDGAF, except for the carping. JFC, STFU up already. Someone’s always unhappy.
To be fair, the first few comments aren’t bad, but I’m betting it’s coming.
As a loooong time member, I HIGHLY prefer this way of doing the IRKs/Bag ‘o Crap. The millisecond “be lucky” way sucked/sucks.
That said, I’ve been unhappy with the quality of them for a few years now. (But am fully willing to admit that I am a small sample size for quality assurance.)
As time goes on my biggest regret is not being able to (or not willing to risk my health for, autoimmune sucks!) get a Meh tattoo!
…especially when I see how tiny some of them were able to be and still qualify!
I’m one of those who won’t get a tattoo either, but is more of a culture thing than health. This present system of IRKs is not my favorite. Don’t pay attention to the event and come back in the evening and check the ICYMI and if you hit the number, go ahead and pull the trigger. Takes a lot of fun out of the event. IRK,s? Some decent, some not. Got a really nice electric coffee percolator but it was missing the magnetic motor so that was $35 more bucks. Does make a mighty fine cup of coffee.
@mdrcoast
My mom is SO MUCH against tattoos that she actually told my sister to tell her daughter (my mom’s granddaughter) that she was cutting her out of her will/inheritance if she was to get another tattoo. TBT, my niece has been wearing long sleeves all summer to hide her half sleeve of beautiful artwork from my mom. It’s crazy how much it bothers her, she actually gets visible uncomfortable when she sees people with them. Guess it really is, or can be a generational thing.
@Lynnerizer@mdrcoast Yes, my mother is from Japan and it’s a gangster thing there - the Yakuza get tattoos so she will never approve of them. (She don’t know about my little Irk!)
@Kyeh@mdrcoast
I also did a Google search for the Yakuza and Omg-osh what an interesting read. I wouldn’t have expected tattoos to be seen so badly there and associated with gangs, I would’ve assumed they’d be seen as tribal tats. The artwork is amazing though. Interesting roots you have.
A couple of times they sell IRKs and then reimburse you for the cost of things bought during the mehrathron AND sell IRK’s throughout the mehrathon as they did in the old days–which if they did that more often, it would satisfy everyone.
@Stumpy91 I agree - I would like one too @mediocrebot - I was waiting to make sure they had the things I wanted, the rubbermaid tupperwares was the seller but I doubt I’ll buy it if I don’t have the irk
@Stumpy91@00null00How could they possibly run out of trash for the IRK’s?? I’m sure they could have the Carrollton, TX Sanitation Dept. deliver as many truckloads as they need!!
@sleepiest1 No. I have not yet received my refund. Meh has always been great when giving refunds, so I’m sure they will refund me at some point. They sold over 500, last time I checked so I’m sure it can be a time consuming process since it’s done manually.

No IRKs in the Mehrathon proper, no purchase! It’s got to be fun, or I don’t shop.
@xaviermoroney They don’t seem to be ruling out IRKs during the mehrathon proper.
Judging by the quality of the last IRKs
I don’t get the hate for the current IRKs. I have always found things to pick up during the ‘thons, so in this case, it comes down to $10. @joelmw I miss the old meh.

@haydesigner same
@joelmw @ShotgunX you mean old woot.com?
@ShotgunX
Wow! 80,300+ sold already? In 30 minutes? Wow!
@pattyrusk1 I saw that too, but surely not not today
@fairchild521 @pattyrusk1 … a decimal point problem? Or they are counting the dollars and not number sold?
@fairchild521 @pattyrusk1 OK now it says 300+ sold. Maybe that is the running grand total sold since the first fuku way back when?
I don’t want to spend $50. No matter if they reimburse you, your still spending money on another site so it doesn’t matter.

@Lynnerizer ditto

@Kyeh @mdrcoast
And the cutest little IRK at that!
@Lynnerizer @mdrcoast Thank you!
(BTW I meant to write she doesn’t know! Autofill got me! )

@Kyeh @mdrcoast
Lol , I figured that! I reread it twice and said that doesn’t sound like her.
@Lynnerizer Yes, some of those tattoos are beautiful, but I would never want that much ink myself!
@Kyeh
Yes, I agree, that’s way too much ink. Those neck tattoos are too much too, IMO they’re just not attractive.

@Felton10 Yes, that makes it so much more fun!
Bought something before the IRK - buying IRK now, hoping that I get the refund!
Wasn’t going to do it, then ended up buying at least $40 of stuff for the office so I did it.
/giphy sleek-clever-daisy
Sold out
I went to buy the irk and it’s sold out. I didn’t think that would happen. Kinda pissed off. I wonder if @mediocrebot can find one for me? /Buy
@Stumpy91 I agree - I would like one too @mediocrebot - I was waiting to make sure they had the things I wanted, the rubbermaid tupperwares was the seller but I doubt I’ll buy it if I don’t have the irk

Same here, waited to confirm there would actually be stuff in the thon worth buying, and now the IRK isn’t even available?
Woo Hoo! Mine shipped and is arriving Saturday
@pattyrusk1 Mine also shipped, but no refunds yet. Did you get your refunds already?
