I don’t get the hate for the current IRKs. I have always found things to pick up during the ‘thons, so in this case, it comes down to $10. Sometimes the IRKs are shitty, sometimes not, but usually they’re at least okay, sometimes great, and pretty much always at least $10 worth of at least mediocre shit.
That being said, if they’d done $100 again or made the IRK more than net $10, I probably would have passed.
Does no one remember when the majority of folks were big mad or devastated because they for whatever reason couldn’t get the timing? Not to mention the annoying AF, “I always get one; y’all are doing it wrong” bullshit from some people.
This is better. You want the IRK? You buys some shit and you takes your chances. Or you don’t. IDGAF, except for the carping. JFC, STFU up already. Someone’s always unhappy.
To be fair, the first few comments aren’t bad, but I’m betting it’s coming.
As a loooong time member, I HIGHLY prefer this way of doing the IRKs/Bag ‘o Crap. The millisecond “be lucky” way sucked/sucks.
That said, I’ve been unhappy with the quality of them for a few years now. (But am fully willing to admit that I am a small sample size for quality assurance.)
As time goes on my biggest regret is not being able to (or not willing to risk my health for, autoimmune sucks!) get a Meh tattoo!
…especially when I see how tiny some of them were able to be and still qualify!
I’m one of those who won’t get a tattoo either, but is more of a culture thing than health. This present system of IRKs is not my favorite. Don’t pay attention to the event and come back in the evening and check the ICYMI and if you hit the number, go ahead and pull the trigger. Takes a lot of fun out of the event. IRK,s? Some decent, some not. Got a really nice electric coffee percolator but it was missing the magnetic motor so that was $35 more bucks. Does make a mighty fine cup of coffee.
A couple of times they sell IRKs and then reimburse you for the cost of things bought during the mehrathron AND sell IRK’s throughout the mehrathon as they did in the old days–which if they did that more often, it would satisfy everyone.

No IRKs in the Mehrathon proper, no purchase! It’s got to be fun, or I don’t shop.
@xaviermoroney They don’t seem to be ruling out IRKs during the mehrathon proper.
Judging by the quality of the last IRKs

@joelmw I miss the old meh.

@haydesigner same
Wow! 80,300+ sold already? In 30 minutes? Wow!
@pattyrusk1 I saw that too, but surely not not today
@fairchild521 @pattyrusk1 … a decimal point problem? Or they are counting the dollars and not number sold?
I don’t want to spend $50. No matter if they reimburse you, your still spending money on another site so it doesn’t matter.

@Lynnerizer ditto
