Pointless trivia: for the original design, @Spiritgreen holds the shirt.woot record for latest derby entry to win first place.

Back when the derby ran from Friday noon to Thursday noon, it was submitted on Wednesday morning, a couple hours before entries closed. This was well received by Wooters as it fit the recycling derby theme well while being subtle and gained plenty of traction in the subsequent 26 hours. And created a mad scramble for the shirt.woot editors to get the color separations prepped and print ready by Friday morning.

I recall being exasperated along with the artist when it was deemed that a map of the United States was deemed fictional.

@ACraigL Oh no, kinda dying a little doesn’t sound good! What have the symptoms been like for you? Been hearing about new symptoms from others like vomiting

@jasneko Persistent fever 101-102 range. But the worst is the sore throat. That showed up last night. Feels like I’ve swallowed sandpaper, but it’s covered with tiny knives. And the knives are on fire. I’m on day 5. Can’t wait for it to be over.

@ACraigL @jasneko Yeah tons of people sick around here too. Hope you feel better soon. Not fun. Definite misery. I had covid over christmas - and I had vomiting (which initially fooled my MD), and a headache beyond hell for days along with some of the “older” more common symptoms. Fortunately for me paxlovid helped a lot. Now I have something else that’s going around. Who knows what but neg for the flu. I’m on day 8 of that. Be careful once you are over covid. I just saw a study that your immune system is depressed a bit right after having that and it’s easier to get sick again. Feel better.

Really huge wave There are many elder relatives in my family that all have it for the first time right now which has been worrisome Yes I also read your immune system is suppressed for a while afterward, so lay low! A time to lay low anyway since everything is so rampant

@Kyeh Thanks, yes, much better. Just some tiredness left, but symptoms are basically gone. Still testing positive though.

@Kyeh I got something in Feb 2020 before covid was a household name and reasonably certain it was that, but officially, this is my first time getting it.

@ACraigL so now that it is a week later are you basically better or still “recovering”?

@Kidsandliz Basically better! I seem to get tired a little quicker than I used to, but hoping that normalizes over time.

@jasneko For the third design, I wonder if there are any trademark issues with the game box titles.

(The editors seem to care less about such versus the past, however.)

@narfcake You know, I wondered the same thing as I was making it… and really hoping not, as it took quite a bit of time trying to slightly mimic the boxes/ names. It would be confusing if just the title alone would be an issue when looking at all the other stuff that is now allowed, but I guess it’s possible.

Yeah, Xenteenel. New and obvious vote manipulation. They got first, second and third by votes last derby and will likely do the same this week. Fortunately, woot sees through it and skipped all three, moving on to the 4th place design to run as the winner.

I just saw a news story about how Walkmans and similar old tech devices are going for 3 and 4 figures now! If I still had the original packaging I could sell mine for a lot! Kind of just as glad I don’t though, because I’m fond of it.

Oh, I hadn’t seen that they rejected Catzilla as “off-topic.” Weird that they kept Dogzilla, as you said. I’d say a lot of the designs are off-topic, if they’re supposed to be funny.
