Rehoming Meh items
0Dear Meh Employees with power to make awesome decisions...
I find myself in possession of a number of items ordered from Meh that I have never opened (multiple quadcopters, Belkin keyboard case, etc). What do y'all think of creating a way for Meh customers to sell no longer available items to other Meh users? I would be satisfied selling at or below cost only, I don't think Meh needs us competing with them on a price vs availability standpoint. Naturally shipping would be extra as we don't have the same shipping awesomeness that Meh does. Thoughts?

That's called Craig's List and Ebay.
There's an exchange thread for Fuku items, I see no reason why you couldn't create a Meh4Sale thread? It'll be like craigslist, but with slightly less prostitution.
@ACraigL what if instead of less, we doubled it?
Not a bad idea, but I expect shipping cost would kill it for most items. Meh sells a lot of stuff that is fairly heavy compared to its cost, and shipping stuff in the US is pretty expensive. If you don't charge shipping, then it's less hassle to donate it locally, and if you do charge shipping it's no longer really a deal. For example, those $16 ice cream makers would probably be over $20 to ship regular USPS.
I asked about this as I was/am wanting to auction all my meh branded items (4 fukus, socks, meh face t-shirt...) due to needing money for health insurance and was told I could list I was selling them but couldn't do much more than that (eg couldn't use a thread for an auction...)
@Kidsandliz I can totally understand why Meh would not want their forum threads turned into auctions. I would not want to mediate any issues from a transaction and the Meh staffers have enough to do without getting into a he said she said. I would also be very concerned about scammers, you’ve been on the forums long enough to know that not everyone is all sweetness and light.
@Foxborn I wasn't complaining, just stating what I had been told.
@Kidsandliz yea put them on ebay then list the auctions here.
Meh items make excellent gifts. I just gave my grandmother a meh blanket for the winter (winter is coming, as the starks would say). I gave a meh ice cream maker as a wedding gift, that couple still hasn't forgiven me for their eventual weight gain.
Fukus are harder, but I have found good homes for ~1/2 of my fuku items. I had 5 of the belkin keyboards which you mentioned (shipping mistake) - @hollboll told me to make a crazy hack out of them, but the local hackerspace wasn't very interested so I donated most of them to a local day care, where I'm told the kids play "computer" by flipping them open and typing on them.
This is all to say, meh purchases are a sunk cost. Instead of trying to make a buck or two back by selling them, make someones day by giving them some free crap that they can actually use.
