Remember these things?
16These cheap things that what we got wasn’t what was described?
One of these helped me get dressed this morning. Nice.
Hip replacement surgery went smoothly on Friday and things are progressing nicely. Bring on the metal detectors.

Mine helped me grab a Nerf dart from behind a heavy piece of furniture…so…yeah.
@medz That’s where all my darts went and were never seen again. Maybe if they sell these again I’ll grab some just for that.
in 17 years, I’ve never set off a metal detector with my plate in my arm. Either it’s too small, or the detector isn’t sensitive enough.
Good luck on your recovery!
@RiotDemon Dinner or dessert plate? And how did it get in your arm?
@mehcuda67 secret.
@RiotDemon Ahhh. A finger food plate!
Pretty cute on the plate scale.
Hope you heal quickly and completely!
Surgery was Friday? Sounds like your healing up fast. For some reason I thought it would take at least a week of therapy to really get going on your own. Either way best of luck in your healing. I need a knee replacement pretty bad and I’m scared to get it down. I’m a bit of a wimp.
@Enigma knees they force you to walk the same day.
@Enigma @RiotDemon I had to walk, too, but I understand that the hip replacement is actually the easiest one to get.
Physical therapist is going to make me walk up the street on Friday, with the walker to start. My biggest thing?
I’ll have to wear shoes.
Glad to hear surgery went well, and recovery is progressing nicely @lisaviolet.
Ditto what others said… Glad it went well… and here’s to a speedy (haha) recovery.
@lseeber Phys therapist gave me an A+ yesterday.
The worst pain? Standing up from the toilet. No idea why, but it’s almost like a Charlie horse from mid - thigh up through the butt cheek.
You know when you stretch out your legs in bed and you get a cramp? Holy Mother of God, it hurts.Granted, it’s short lived ,but it’s pretty intense.
@lisaviolet Most likely it is a cramp. I would think that after the invasion the local muscles just endured that they are going in an out of spasms.
Hopefully, it will pass quickly!
@lisaviolet @lseeber You can get a bedside commode and leave the bucket out, placing it over the toilet to help with elevating the seat. Mom had hers done a few years back and they had her up the next day. Amazing. The only drawback is trying to get her to remember to pre-medicate with antibiotics when she gets her teeth cleaned… Oh and I had a hard time getting her to start using the back seat of the car again when we went places once her hip was back 100%. She is 5’2" and Dad was almost 6’. Not convenient in a Ford Focus back seat!
Good luck and listen to the PT. They can really be a great help to get you back to top form.
PS if you (or nay one else) need more of those gripper things Harbor Freight gives them as free items with any purchase semi-regularly. Buy a 49cent chip brush or 25cent phillips bit and take home a pickup tool free…
@chienfou @lseeber Thanks. My husband installed low flow toilets a while ago and they’re taller than standard.
It’s just a thing now of getting those muscles working and there’s a little (hah) resistance.
As for amazing, I was home the same day. They had me walk around the floor with a walker, watched me sit on the toilet and pull my pants up and get up and once I could do all of that (and I did it first try), they packed me up to go home.
I can’t sleep on my left side, just the right, where the surgery was done. Problem is it feels like someone put a brick in my right butt cheek and it’s like Princess and the Pea all over again. So, I have to lay flat.
A physical therapist comes here on Tuesdays and Fridays to check my progress and makes me do exercises. “Don’t push! Take it easy!”
But Friday I get to go for a walk outside and up the street! Looking forward to that.
I’m glad things are going well. My wife has had a hip and knees, and it’s well worth it when you’re done.
