Remember Gamestop killing ThinkGeek? They're still a class act.
5They’re finally shuting down, but in their warped little minds they are “essential retail” and are a significant provider of work from home solutions, and should be exempt from closure.
And employees were welcome to use gloves and cleaning supplies, if they provided them themselves.

As someone who used to work there, I’m not really surprised. Corporate GS has never been remotely compassionate to their workers. My store owner was awesome though and we’re friends to this day, but corporate was always trying to kill our joy.
I’ve switched to Best Buy for my games, and after this email, I’m glad.

@pyroguy7 This morning, I saved that email from them because of how up & out standing it was. I hope they can carry thru.
Aw, that email made me a bit weepy. Also, let me know when Game Stop goes out of business. I’ll throw a party.
I am genuinely impressed. Well done Best Buy.
Has Best Buy closed the stores to customers? Or are they open but mostly empty?
They do seem to have a decent attitude.
The grocery stores and gas stations seem to hand a fair to good biz, and people just keep distance as much as possible.
Walmart could be more employee-friendly. Last I read, they will give 2 weeks paid sick leave to any employee who is formally diagnosed or who is ordered to quarantine, but not to persons who are ill or potentially, exposed but who can’t get tested.
(This is not a love note for all Amazon policies); but Amazon has made some decent gestures. Employee hourly pay has been bumped $2/hour for several months. And all hourly employee overtime gets paid at double-pay during the same calendar intervals; not just time and a half.
Amazon says they are making provision for all needed employee sick pay, plus offering child care assistance.
I hope they carry thru on all that.
I think Amazon, Walmart, Target, and the some of the grocery stores are currently hiring?
@f00l You didn’t read the letter from BestBuy did you? You have to click on the blue text to be taken to it. I can email it to you.
@therealjrn
I skimmed it. Too quickly, apparently. Mea culpa.
Didn’t mean to cause irritation.
@f00l I don’t know why you’re apologizing. I wasn’t irritated, I was trying to help you. Does it bother you when I try to help? I’m sorry, it’s all my fault.
@therealjrn
Your message, for some reason, didn’t quite strike me as a pure instance of “trying to help”.
No doubt I skimmed your post too quickly also.
; )
@f00l Mea culpa. All my fault. I shall endeavor to write better. Didn’t mean to come across harshly. I’m sorry for rustling your jimmies.
@therealjrn
Oh. dear. Perhaps we had both better work on our affirmations?
: )
@f00l @therealjrn
wait… isn’t that the goat’s job?
@chienfou Not in this case. It’s complicated.
Oh yeah I saw that yesterday. I’m surprised but also I’m not…this seems like the kind of thing GameStop would do. They know that if they close their stores, they’re done for!
