I have the rooster and deer from a previous mehathon. They mount to a tree (or in my case, a cedar board) using screw/nail holders (imagine old skeleton key holes) . I used small brass screws. Aligning the screws so it matched was tough. As was the depth of the screws so the part was firmly attached to the board. Tough, but not difficult.
A deer antler was broken off and then rooster eye was knocked off and scooped away during a snow storm… I need to go look for it.
