@TBoneZeOriginal I cannot account for why I saw this (channel surfing, I suppose), because I don't think I ever watched the show other than this particular episode. I'd skip ahead to 3:45, if I were you.
@zonedabone Have had the G930 for quite a while, love them but, they suffer from periodical interference (every night around 9 or 10pm almost like clockwork and other random times) and I'm on my 2nd set where the USB connector is getting flaky and they no longer charge, so I'm in on these @$33.
@Al_Coholic If only that meant I got it free, I've been around longer than Razer has! I've bought so many headsets its not funny, none have given me the comfort I need cause I've got a cspine injury, and I've grown doubtful enough to just stick with the pain I know than an unknown I might not like.
@Tiamat114 Damn, that is a badass name (forgiving me for knowing about the chaos-loving sea goddess of the ANE; I was a biblical studies/biblical languages major). I'm a little worried that there might be 113 others out there.
Just FYI, Razer is overpriced mediocre junk marketed toward 15-year-old "EXTREME GAYMMURRS" and others who are ignorant of what quality computer peripherals actually look like. For $33, this might be an okay deal, but I personally would not spend any more than that for any kind of Razer product; partly out of principle, and partly out of just poor value.
@Dickbutt And that's a-okay; in the end, you should use whatever you're happy with. $33 for this headset is a reasonable deal, but the fact that they're charging $80-$100 for this thing on a normal day is absurd. There are too many better alternatives in that price bracket.
@Dankk Odd, I had one of their other headphones for years. Super long cord, always sounded good. Worked great... until my wife vacuumed over the cord and well, something went wrong. Picking these up as a replacement. I've been a fan of Razer products since their first mouse. I tend to totally disagree they are junk.
Seriously??? I JUST ordered a gaming headset off Woot like 4 hours ago! I would have strongly considered this one instead, since I prefer meh greatly! I almost posted a thread here asking about people's opinion of the Turtle Beach set I was about to buy, but I decided that wouldn't be cool.. Turns out @JonT or someone could have maybe warned me to hold off!! grr...
@kadagan FWIW, I have owned a Turtle Beach headset for the past couple of years (one of the cheaper versions), and it has held up admirably. I don't think you'll be disappointed with your purchase. I even looked at that same sale on Woot, but decided against it for no other reason than I'm trying to rein in the spending.
I love you Meh. I have been playing TF2 competitively for about a month or so and have been working with the shittiest headset ever and have been wanting to upgrade but not wanting to spend alot of money on it. This is too perfect! I mean... uhh... meh.
Ahem, @cengland0, @JonT just called us "weirdos." While this is clearly a factual statement, his saying it out loud (as opposed to being adorably obsequious) reflects a certain, shall we say, uppitiness. This is unacceptable and, of course, all your fault. I expect you to do something about it.
@editorkid TIL. That's actually cool. And we have a cat that doesn't like everyone, so maybe this becomes our new strategy for breaking the ice. "Excuse me, you can either dig out some ear wax or my cat is likely to shred your leg. Your choice of course."
i would totally buy it, however constant use of 3.5 jacks has messed up my microphone input so that every movement i make disconnects it. so unless it somehow magically turns into usb i will have to pass.
Perfect. My boyfriend likes to use headsets with mics for voice dictation and video chats, but keeps breaking them (He's a klutz and they fall, shattering plastic repeatedly). Cheap enough that it won't matter, easy holiday present.
@snapster Not sure what to say, loved the quality but now im caused pain By nick - June 28, 2014 I dont know which way to go on this, i really love the quality and suggest them for casual use but unfortunatly i used them heavily for under a year and now i have large indents on the top of my head where each of the plastic bumps sat. many people keep telling me not to worry and that it will go away if i stop using the headset but i have stopped and they havnt gone away for a month now. maybe i need to wait longer but the issue remains that the bumps are causing extreme preasure in my head if they press against anything meaning hats or my pillow and this is causing me a lot of stress. so if you plan to use these just use them casually.
@snapster What, did you want the actual words, because, okay, here: "Unfortunately I had to send them back the same day I got them. They were squeezing my head so hard it felt like vice grips crushing my head. I tried to wear them for about a half hour while playing Battlefield 3 and when I took them off I had the worst headache of my life, no exaggeration. I took a tylenol and laid down to sleep. What a nightmare. Back to my Carcharias for now. And I have a normal head I think, hats fit me normally, and my head is not sensitive. These just felt like they were crushing my head in. I couldn't even wear them long enough to see if they sounded good or not. My head hurts so bad I really cannot fathom anything else on the earth that would make it hurt more besides having a bowling ball dropped on my head from five feet above which is what it basically feels like now. I just cannot believe how hard they squeeze, compared to the Carcharias which do not squeeze and are great as far as comfort goes. Incredible. It blows my mind that this is not a chief problem for anyone else and people can tolerate this. How this is not the chief complaint in the reviews here is crazy. I don't even have a wide head; I just bought a new hat in the mall and it fits normally. Wtf. I am not surprised, considering that Razer is far from the top as far as keyboards and headsets go. They should stick to making mice only."
And if we only get one guess, I'm sticking with my original, but this really works for brevity and expressing the "all about the bass"-ness: "These headphones sounded horrible with absolutely nothing but bass. The only thing I can compare this too is turning up bass and lowering treble and mids to the point where all this is good for is just a rumbling tin can." http://goo.gl/6s6JUC
@snapster The funny thing is the very first review on newegg says something similar. "Cons: The band. It stretches nicely and is snug, but after using this headset frequently for several months, it literally began to indent my scalp to the band. " -Lisa A. And she gives it 5 eggs!
So, let's say that a person has to sit in a cubicle type of desk thingie from roughly 9 to 5 each and every day of his life, and probably will be that way until he dies.
Let's say this very same person is surrounded by annoying people chattering away and sometimes attempting to make vapid small talk to him, usually just an excuse to launch into long declamations about their own children, their successes, their accomplishments, and how they don't phone home often enough.
Let's say that person tried to use earbuds to block out said verbiage, but that certain co-workers (cow-orkers) just don't get the message and are determined to try to hold long conversations with said person anyway. Who, shall I inject, wants nothing more to do his work, go home, turn on the TV, pop a frozen dinner into the microwave, and enjoy it while watching the Simpsons, with the prospect of sultry and fervent, albeit brief, self-love as a kind of whispery promise of feeble excitement though sad reminder of forever-lost youth, later that evening. Before the same grey, monotonous cycle of daily existence begins again anew the next morning.
Now that person considers this headset advertised by Meh. Certainly the fashion is overt enough so that even the most thickest dullard would get the message, no? You put a pair of this sort of headphones on, it basically sends the message, "I don't want to hear anything outside of my own brain, leave me alone." Right?
Question: would these headphones, although designed for gaming, be okay to listen to music to? Not expecting that they would be audiophile quality, but would the bass sound like bass, the treble existent, and overall sounding NOT like said person is listening to music through a pair of tin cans?
@defibrillator yes. with an equalizer to tune it a bit, I'd say these actually have some good music potential with better low end than Beats. Questionable how much bass you should directly inject into your head but these would let you immerse yourself for certain.
We opened one up and sure thing it has 2 discreet full size drivers in each ear.
@defibrillator Like Snapster said, these may come with more bass than you want with music but they sound great and would surely drown out anything. Here's a picture of the tiny subwoofer that is in each ear
I have Logitech G35 7.1's at the moment. I bought these at such a cheap price due to having some financial shortcomings, and not being able to replace with another set of G35's or G930's, my current set decides to blast ear shattering white noise randomly and gives me a heart attack every time. I can't wait to try them out, I mean for this price why not?
@KDemo You're treading on dangerous ground. Given that meh grants wishes, you wish you could think of something. The implication is that you're making the request to meh. In order to fulfill this wish, they would be granting you thoughts you don't currently have. There's no telling what sort of crazy mind-infiltration technology @snapster has access to, and you've fucking invited him to use it on you. Good God, that may have been just the opening he's been playing for this whole time!
I want to support meh for venturing into gaming accessories, but I have a good Bluetooth gaming headset already, and some high quality reference headphones for music, and have no need for these... :(. But keep it up! I do need a new mouse!
I love gaming and will buy gaming stuff if you sell it. I also wanted to mention that I found you guys after hearing about it on Giant Bombcast! I had to look it up by searching for "former woot" and go from there cuz, ya, they didn't know your name.
@JonT@KrisM@Thumperchick@KevinTJ - Any update on this situation? I recieved the MW3 headsets too and was about to email about it but I noticed in the order history I now have a second tracking number that is enroute.
Evening everybody. We're aware that some of you have received the wrong headsets. That sucks, and (all jokes aside) it's just not up to our standards. So, rest assured, we're going to take care of this.
If you got the wrong headset, send a quick email to email@example.com letting us know and we'll work to solve the problem for you quickly. To expedite the process for our customer service team (and you), send a picture of the headset you received.
And I'm sorry about this. As the "guy on the forum who ships things," I take this personally and I'll be working to fix this and prevent it from happening again.
@Dominoska@mcoffer@poizonous@KrisM just wanted to make sure you all saw this. We'll check for your emails first thing in the morning and get the correct headsets sent out to you tomorrow. Sorry about the mix up here and thanks for letting us know!
Hola Gaming headset buyers of Meh. I've heard from the team that there is confirmation that a large number of folks have received or will be receiving the dorky MW3 headsets instead of the ones they ordered. We're doing some inventory checking here to confirm the scope. As this snafu comes to shape this morning, we'll post back here to confirm a (hopefully) favorable solution.
We do (or at least did) own a separate batch of inventory of MW3 amplified gaming headsets. Here's a link to the product on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Call-Duty-Universal-Mac/dp/B005CGL06K It's an interesting headset on it's own with it's amplification feature; however, be assured, we have no intention of trying to pass it off as a replacement for the one you ordered. That's not our style.
While we figure out how many miss-shipments occurred, we'll be crunching numbers on how to budget the most grand corrective action for getting you the correct headsets with the least amount of pissed-off-ness.
TL:DR; wrong headsets may have been shipped; more info here later this morning on solution, followed by email to all affected who have yet to show up.
@lastsuho1004@snapster@hollboll I bought 2 headsets. Heard one of them is a wrong item. Do I just keep it? Is there anything I need to do such as filling up a from a something? And could you give me the tracking number for the item?
You folks are a class act. A pretty mediocre class act, but a class act none the less. I give Meh a C+ for execution, a B- for effort, and an A for customer service, which averages out to a nice solid B. Acceptable job!
So here's a snafu update for you: we really screwed up. Everybody that ordered the Razer headset was sent the dorky MW3 one instead. Yeah, wow.
We were pretty upset about it so we had to blow off some steam:
And yes, we did clean up after ourselves.
So on to the important part. Here's what we're doing about it: we're still going to send everyone the right headset, and they can keep the wrong one.
Everyone affected by this issue should have already received an email with some more information. If you didn't get that email check your spam and if you're still convinced you didn't get it go ahead and contact us through your https://meh.com/orders page (click I need help with this under the headset order) or our https://meh.com/support page (select 'a purchase' and choose the headset).
@JonT Okay, I'll be honest: I didn't even realize that happened. I didn't realize I didn't order the shitty CoD headset, assumed I did it late at night in a haze of poor decision making. That said, I respect you fixing a problem I myself was too dumb/lazy to spot, and I especially applaud you doing so at considerable expense to yourself. I'll definitely continue using your service.
Just got the wrong ones today (after a mixup at the post office.) I must say, I'm not disappointed by them at all, they have the longest cord I've ever seen on a headset, and the fact that the Razer headset I ordered is coming as well, MEH! <3
@hart@JonT@snapster This is a truly amazing recovery from a monumental screwup, and y'all "washed your laundry" right out in public. I can't imagine any other company going this far to fix things, especially big ones that can obviously afford it.
If y'all keep treating us this good, the dictionary is going to have to add "awesome" to the definition of meh.
@daddyrican Just FYI - I'm using the wrong ones on pc right now, guess I didn't read the manual that said I can't... Still looking forward to trying the right ones. Can't beat the customer service here and the mistake fix-up.
@ExCinisCineris you should have received an email from us addressing this issue. Basically we screwed up and sent everyone the wrong headset, which you can keep of course, and we shipped out the correct headsets on Monday. You should get that in the mail within the next few days. Sorry for the mix up!
@ExCinisCineris I understand. I, too, have been disappointed with online purchases arriving too late or damaged or not being what I ordered, as in your case. Sorry it happened, but just remember, Meh.com is a good company and they always try to correct their screw ups.
What the fucking fuck, I just got it today all excited, I open the box and I get the custom call of duty turtle beaches. Is this some kind of joke? Im not even joking it isnt anything like what was in the description. It says "CALL OF DUTY MW3" in massive letters on the headset and adapter. Are you expectig me to keep this or something meh? Im am the longest time call of duty hater. IIve never owned a single one of their games. Edit: fine ill take it for free but dont expect me to like it. Ill check now for the email. You almost broke my heart today meh. But thank you for your customer support.
Got both headsets today. When will Meh be selling a teleporter that I can put them both in to try to fuse them to get the good features from both? Or turn them into horrible fly monsters... That is also an option.
Got mine, they work (well, I need to try the third pair before gifting it), and sound good enough for my needs. Not as good as my ATH-M50s, but those are $200 dedicated monitor cans vs $100 gamer headset. But for those times when I need to talky talky, it's nice to have instead of a USB mic I'd planned to use.
Just have to say, got the Turtle Beach ones in today and was slightly concerned. Contacted customer support, and I am very pleased with how this is being handled! The initial email hit my spam box, otherwise I would have known this was coming. Kind of cool that now I've got a spare pair to work with XBOX, or as a loaner set for LAN parties. Cheers Meh!
TL,DR Special thank you to @snapster and staff for making this right.
An extra Meh box arrived today. My wife said idk what it is. I checked my Meh.com orders and it did not add up, I have this box that is headphone sized and the one in the closet I am not allowed to open to xmas. In fear I received a speaker dock against my will, I opened it. A headset, the one I ordered from Meh.com so I wondered what the headset sized box in the closet was. (The one I did not open but put in the closet because my wife ordered it for me for X-Mas at my request). Still in fear of the possibility of a speaker dock being in my house, I opened the 2nd box.I see Call of Duty headset. Confused and excited I searched Bing for 'meh.com "Call of Duty"' and saw lots of people in search a bathroom, so I googled 'meh.com "Call of Duty"' and got here. I skimmed the post and I see Meh.com sent me the wrong headset and the right headset and I did not even know until today.
@snapster Thank you and your staff for making this right, and ruining my xmas jk ; ), you made my day!
Just got my headphones an I'm loving them! Except when i was messing around with my audio software the mic decided to fizzle out. Has anyone else had this problem? (the mic picks up stuff but its suuuuper low)
Just got the Tiamat headset after getting the MW3 one a week ago. Aaaaand its 2/3 broken out of the box. The Microphone doesn't work and only the right side of the headset has audio coming out of it. BUT they sure feel good on ma head
@JonT Same thing is happening with mine, audio seems fine, but mic is broken. Ive used the /support form as well as sending an email, but havent heard anything back. Is there an estimated time frame for hearing back?
