I love the idea (and the video is hysterical) but cringe at the price.
I bought a thick ‘granny’ pillow (goose down/feather fill) at an estate sale auction for $2 over 25 years ago. I was going to use it with a decorative cover, but it turns out to be almost perfect for my every day sleeping. Stays cool & firm; easily restores to full shape with just a little fluff. It’s tough for any synthetic pillow to compete…
@jbartus What’s the problem? I didn’t eat the darn thing. There wasn’t anything nesting inside; it didn’t (doesn’t) smell bad. I cleaned it & put a fresh down/feather-proof cover on it. And of course use my own pillowcases.
Hygiene? Most new pillows are manufactured in China, and there’s no telling what kind of noxious chemicals are inside for you to breathe.
It’s just an antique pillow; not so much different than an antique sofa. There is plenty of discussion on this forum related to purchasing used or refurb’ed appliances, etc, with rarely any comments about hygiene.
@givemeyoursoul I’ve been fortunate enough to inherit several things from deceased relatives. And they don’t (usually) tear down a house after someone dies in it.
Death is almost always sad (in reflection) but it doesn’t usually creep me out.
Only the undead does that.
@compunaut ten percent of the weight of a two year old pillow (it now weighs more than it did new) consists of dead skin cells, mites, dead mites, and their feces. There are also certain kinds of mold and bacteria that thrive in pillows. It’s been fairly widely recommended that pillows be replaced every two years or so.
@jbartus This mostly applies to synthetic pillows. Recent studies seem to show that a feather pillow with tightly woven, feather-proof cover don’t really support accumulation of mites
@therealjrn@jbartus Found a couple things using google, including an allergy/asthma site that referenced 2 earlier studies (I think), then ran their own 90 day study. Haven’t had time to track it down again.
@compunaut I found it, (literally first result for “do feather pillows attract mites”) and while it addresses the concern/claim that feather pillows are worse than synthetic for allergen reasons (which is a claim I never voiced here) it neither finds that feather pillows are immune from dust mite allergen nor does it make any claims about accumulation of things like dead skin cells in the pillow.
I’m very tempted just because I want to try out their material, don’t use chair cushions, and don’t want to spring for a bed at least without knowing how comfortable their stuff is.
Planning to get a purple bed in a few weeks, is it worth having to wait a few extra weeks for the bed to get free pillows?
Could mean sleeping on the floor or a $10 air mattress for most of November.
Looks like I waive the 100 night trail if I buy through the kickstarter, that’s probably a deal breaker.
@jbartus I get that. But that doesn’t stop it from being kinda shitty that a $1000+ bed loses its satisfaction guarantee if I want to get it with kickstarter pillows.
Pillow looks nice, comfortable and the video makes me want to buy it. And my room is in made in purple colors, and $19 is not that much, but I can’t afford it myself at least next 2 weeks, I need to save money for the a writers who do my homework for me at essay dune. How many of them on offer? I hope in a few few you will have them in place.
@HarryOtto Get caught get kicked out. Might try learning something and writing your own essays. Doesn’t say much about your ethics. Sheesh. Really dumb to post about your cheating here. I’d never, ever hire someone who cheated their way through school. Ever. And people do get caught using papers from services like that as not all the unethical people who do your work for you use a paper only once, some plagiarize…
I’ve had the mattress for a few weeks, and I love it. It came with a free cushion at the time.
I also pledged at the early bird level for this as a gift for my mom, but I’ll happily keep it if it’s not her cup of tea.
The stretch goals are kind of boring, unless the pillow case is some amazing material. I was more intrigued by the slippers from the low tier, until I realized they weren’t made of their Purple material. Of course if they were, they’d be $50.
I have many SPAMows that all are my gift which is given by my SPAMs. All are different in color like blue,red,white, pink and also purple. Now I SPAM Online because of my SPAMing practice and also for do my SPAMects which are given by my SPAMcher.
It’s gotta be better than Meh’s pillows. Right?
(And I LOVE the swag bag!)

@compunaut you bought a used pillow? My skin is crawling just at the thought.
@jbartus A used pillow from a dead person. For all you know, they died while resting their head on it!
@givemeyoursoul oddly enough that part doesn’t bother me, just the hygienic concerns.

@compunaut
I would have done as you did once. Now I worry about bedbugs.
Those fuckers.

@jbartus So you wash it. End of problem.
@Kidsandliz not even remotely

@compunaut Source please?
@compunaut seconding @therealjrn’s request for source.
@therealjrn @jbartus Found a couple things using google, including an allergy/asthma site that referenced 2 earlier studies (I think), then ran their own 90 day study. Haven’t had time to track it down again.
@compunaut @jbartus Yup, 85% of all statistics are made up on the spot.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@metaphore Kickstarter pledges aren’t purchases, they’re items given as an expression of gratitude to pledgers based on the level of their pledge.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@metaphore Unless you know you’re going to love it, the waiving of the 100 night trial makes the free pillows a risky move.
@jbartus I get that. But that doesn’t stop it from being kinda shitty that a $1000+ bed loses its satisfaction guarantee if I want to get it with kickstarter pillows.
@metaphore you want your cake and you want to eat it too, life doesn’t work like that.

@HarryOtto The $19 was for purple promotional stuff- sunglasses and such. The pillow was way more.
@HarryOtto you’re paying people to do your essays for you? Why even bother going to class? O_o

Surely this is a troll or humor attempt. One hopes.
