Nobody likes purple...
I like purple.
I LOVE PURPLE!!
@Barney LOUDER! (If you start off a line with a #, it shows up in large print.)
@narfcake #really?
@smoo99 You're doing it wrong.
@smoo99 really!
@Barney which design is your favorite? Or are you holding out for pure purple?
@nadroj I love purple purple.
Ooooohhhh!!!!! So many pretties to vote for! Thanks for the head's up, @narfcake! I haven't been following the derbies for a while, so I would have missed it.
I love purple!!
@narfcake (yea!)
I HAVE STRONG FEELINGS ABOUT THINGS. #POUND
How much do woot shirts cost now anyway?
@Fen_Star $12 standard, $15 back catalog.
Fuck Woot and their crappy damn shirts.
Got 6 as Christmas gifts and every single one of them are screen printed so cockeyed I'm embarrassed to wear them. On two of them the image starts in the armpit.
@ruouttaurmind Write to support. It'll probably take a few emails back-and-forth, but they'll resolve it.
I think I still have a $5 off $15 shirt purchase if anybody wants it. I'll have to check expiration date.
@medz From the stocking stinkers, I believe it's 1/15/15.
@narfcake it was, but it shows 1/31/15. Want it?
@medz My bad. And sure, I'll make use of it when these print (because AA and purple). Thank you! (Probably easiest to PM over at Woot?)
@narfcake I'll have someone send it over to you. Enjoy!
I like purple.
@medz Got it - thank you!
@narfcake I had that coupon as well (well, one from the stocking stinkers with an expiration date of 1/31/2015). I tried using it today and was told it was invalid, but I still placed the order, contacted support with a picture of the coupon card and asked they refund me the $5. They did. Yay ADQ for good advice!
who cares about purple. . . .?
I love purple.
@jrwofuga Admit it, you baited @Barney on purpose.
@chillface no idea what you're talking about.
Awww.
Vote for my chickens on purple! Please! :)
http://shirt.woot.com/derby/entry/83070/fresh-nuggets
@taternuggets did you get them in the divorce?
@Ignorant It gets tiring explaining "our" all the time.
I love purple.
@taternuggets don't know how to vote
@smoo99 you need to have bought at least one thing from any of the woot sites, if you've done that then there should be a little "I'd want one" button on the top left.
@Ignorant @smoo99 Also, logged in.
@Ignorant done and done
I used to really follow and vote regiously, but I don't think I've even peaked over there since their most recent shirt change. I sucked it up & dealt with the first change but only when I really loved a design. The only saving grace was that they usually print Fresh Cake on purple AA. Thanks for the heads up @narfcake. My shirt collection needs some fresh blood & in the words of the very wise @barney I love purple!
@LadyLeela Awww. (purple blush)
@LadyLeela I still vote, even though it feels "dirty" that I'm unlikely to actually buy them because of the blanks. The hope that they'll print on something else later is the reason why I do so.I do not vote solely because of the artist.
I have favorites, sure, but no one gets auto-votes. There are several artists that have earned some distrust from me over such actions, though; the resulting sales is indicative of such actions.
@narfcake I agree about voting based on the artwork, not artist loyalty. I followed closely enough to be aware of some of the game playing that went on. It seems that between that and perhaps the quality of shirts/ability to screen print straight a number of the "old guard" submit less often, if at all. I would hope that if meh branches out into shirts (and like many others, I hope they do) they will be able to keep things a bit more honest and retain talented artists.
@LadyLeela The way I see it, it won't be by votes but by curators. It's not that the model is bad, but shirt.meh doesn't need to be the next Threadless or the next shirt.woot to be successful and make an impact. Offer standout reason(s) to buy from here versus some other crowdsourced shirt site, and the sales will follow.
As for games, I have to believe it's still going on, hence the occasional "play fair" rejections. Follow the derby winners and their resulting sales, and you'll know who I question.
American Apparel is the devil because their women's shirts run ridiculously small.
American Apparel is angelic because their women's shirts run in sizes that actually fit and flatter very well and true to world-standard sizing. ... ... ... Funny how opinions work, eh?
@madamehardy The "mutant" Anvil blanks used nowadays at shirt.woot are about as narrow as AA shirts, which also follows the sizing of other brands. In some cases, other brands are even narrower.
The real size anomaly are the former Woot/Anvil 880 blanks.
@goldenthorn I agree they run true to size, unlike the Anvil tents.
I love AA shirts, I hope these are good!
Following up with @madamehardy's other post - the following are various brands of women's blanks used in the imprint industry. As an example, I pulled specs for a size WXL chest width:
AA 2012: 18-3/4"
Alstyle 5562: 17-1/4
Anvil 880 (non-mutant variety): 23-1/4"
Gildan 64000L: 19-1/2"
NLA 3300L: 18-1/2"
Spectra 8600: 19"
Tultex 0213: 19-1/2"
Which one is significantly different from the others?
@narfcake The specific problem I remember about AA women's shirts was not so much chest girth as length. For some reason, all AA shirts wound up as crop tops unless you were petite.
@madamehardy Strangeness indeed, but everybody's body is different. Lengthwise, AA and NLA are 27-1/4", Gildan and Tultex are 28", and Spectra is 29". The chest-size comparable Anvil 880 (non-mutant) in WM (19") is 26" in length.
There are currently 2 designs in that derby that I'd actually wear, and only 1 of them is in the fog. Both of those designs are resubs from a previous purple derby. The new "2 Derbies/week" thing is not helping the quality of submissions.
@Thumperchick There are 2 derbies a week now? Wow, I've really lost track of what is going on.
@Thumperchick I'll try harder next time.
@Thumperchick Since submitting in a derby includes a default of turning over the printing rights, there's a risk involved if it doesn't sell a lot in the resulting side sale, hence more lackluster entries.
@narfcake That did start the decline, but the artist subs cut dramatically once 2 derbies/week started.
They should make "I Want One" automatically turn into a purchase if the shirt wins. That would keep things real.
@WTFhqwhgads In theory, it's a good idea, but the reality is that it would only be successful in turning away even more voters.
@narfcake if they want more voters who won't buy, they should allow multiole votes, without tracking accounts or IP address. May the artist with the best bots win.
@TerriblyHuang Or just the ones with the most likes on FB, not that Naolito (232k) or RamyB (487k) are active on Woot these days.
There's still 48 minutes left to vote for my wonka shirt, if you wanna hook a sister up: http://shirt.woot.com/derby/entry/83066/2015-wonka-suit
LOUD NOISES
Je adore le violet.
Ich liebe lila.
THEY ARE HERE!
I like purple.
And I'm sad, because while I like the purple tees a lot, there isn't a design that just sweeps me off my feet. :/ Damn it!
I like purple.
@Mavyn Here's hoping for at least another side sale of purple, then. I think this is the first time Fresh Cake wasn't offered with other purples.
@narfcake I have purple Fresh Cake. :) I'm waffling on the Jasneko's squid.
@Mavyn I waffled for a few minutes last night before getting it! :) Perhaps you can suggest some other designs to print on purple in the thread? If I start, all we might just end up with a bunch of @fishbiscuit catshirts. =^.^=
@narfcake I will look. I can't recall what there was... I know I liked couple, but lately... Really has to grab my attention. I've got so many tees, and limited tee wearing time. I have tees I sleep in, just so i get to see them!
@Mavyn Wonka Suit for that formal event coming up. ;)
@marcee :p I think my last 'formal' event was jury duty. :D
i could care less about the shirt it's on as there is a zebra one and the ex loves zebras so it's going to be her bday gift from the kids....so it can be as annoyingly unfitting as possible!!!
@brdubb but if it's AA it will be soft and cuddly and fit well
@nadroj Or not. AA don't fit everyone. Anvil don't fit everyone. It's a thing.
@nadroj well that's disappointing.
