@zerth Yeah, I use it even less than Slack though these days. Discord has almost entirely killed IRC for me. Same for Bulletin Boards (telnet/dialup) I still have the software for them running, but I rarely call them.
@2many2no somebody went to a lot of trouble to make that giphy really compact. When whatshername is talking, he’s frozen, thus not wasting storage space on a server somewhere, and vice versa, in addition to saving bandwidth costs! What a world we live in!
@2many2no@UncleVinny Also indicates more clearly who is talking. Motion attracts the attention. Worked for me to the point that I didn’t notice until you mentioned it.
My mom. Seriously. If it’s not a quick text to say “Running late but will be there” then it goes through her. The women is a communication network. She warns people she can’t and won’t keep secrets, but if you need to reach someone, she’s right woman for the job.
Google hangouts. It has audio and video chat available, as well. Also you can share desktop.
Phone call. Yes, I still do those.
Text. Even though it’s silly to use that when other methods (hangouts for example) are totally free. I don’t buy the unlimited plan; I rarely use the 200 basic texts per month. Saves me tons! Well, five bucks.
How about voice-over-the-air communications - as in talking in person? Maybe over a fence, rather than face-to-face. Not that I do that, or have friends, but I have heard (electronically) that that is an option for some people.
Telegram Messenger. It’s free, fast, simple, secure, and installs on just about everything using minimal space. Oh, and furries are drawn to it like flies to a zapper for some reason.
Slack??
I’m a hermit. Who needs friends when you have meh?
What’s a friend?
@mfladd That’s what we are here. OK some of us are douchebags but a lot of us are friends.
Can’t we be both?
@macromeh Friends and dicks, yes. Friends and douchebags, no.
IRC is still a thing

If I type it right here, they usually kind of see it eventually.

@2many2no also…mila kunis is cute as a bug, now and forever.
@2many2no @UncleVinny damn…you’re right about what they did with that gif. That takes some skillz.

@2many2no Is he drinking a Shiner Bock?
@compunaut He is if he’s lucky…
Wait, he’s sitting there with Mila, of course he’s lucky!

Telepyromancy. I remotely cause smoke signals to, uh…oh I’m lying. I just text/IM, like everyone else.
/giphy not so special
@UncleVinny I debated putting a fake-offended “what, how is smoke signals not on the list!”

My voicemail greeting…
“Hang up and text me”
Hmm, Slack with parental units, email with one friend, text with other friend … so you’re asking me to pick my favorite person(s)?
How rude.
@TheFLP it’s the text friend.
Discord.
I use Slack a fair bit too, but Discord outpaces it about 3:1. Text messages are about half again what I use Slack for.
@kazriko Discord is actually the best.
i use a combination of twitter and steam (gaming app, not, like, some kind of pneumatic mail system, although that would be fine too.)
Facebook Messenger.
I have friends on a discord server and we actually regularly talk using that. Occasionally I’ll text people and I’m not big on phone calls.
Why is a Primary vote being mean to friends?

What happened to Morse over HF?!
@mehcuda67 “In my day, phones only had one button, and it was shared by the whole town.”
Mental telepathy.
phone, email, text, and very very occasionally facebook messenger with a couple of facebook addicts… there is a time and a place for each of them.
Forums and TeamSpeak. Yeah, we’re old, how’d you guess?
Discord.
Twitter. We’re totally a Twitter crowd.

@PocketBrain sorry for the duplicate post. it wasn’t showing for some reason.

Encrypty phone apps. Things like Signal. We are not using Signal, sounds like that is probably the best one.
@InnocuousFarmer I have a few friends who will respond to so much as a “hi” on facebook with, “Not here. Signal.”
@Seeds I am gratified to learn that others exist. Though… they shouldn’t have Facebook accounts in the first place.
“friends”?

Discord or FB Messenger, work communication is all on Slack or E-mail.

Gesticulations involving ones middle finger.
Use both when they don’t hear you the first time.
