@matthew I would cut off the bad resin, sand what was left, clean off the dust and recast it. As long as there isn’t any dust, you usually won’t see any seams. Or you can just cut around the skull in a rectangle type shape, sand, and then polish with a plastic polish and call it done.
If you don’t use enough catalyst, the piece will either not set at all, or be super rubbery.
Next time I would dip the skull in the resin and hang it. Do this a few times to make a layer around it. Help seal those bubbles in. Also, depending on the resin, you can take a lighter and pop the bubbles that rise to the surface. Double check your resin though because some will catch on fire.
There’s also a ton of different kinds of resins. Reading the instructions of all of them, some will tell you not to do thicker pours. I usually only pour little stuff so I use a two equal part resin, which is really easy to not fuck up. I’ll have to look and see what it says about thicker pours, because I honestly don’t remember.
There’s a YouTuber that a few people around the forum watch that does fun things with resin. He shows his failures as well, so that helps.
