@DrunkCat Meh using AI for the images is kind of off putting. Make your own content. I don’t want my money going to a company that pads its profits by cheaping out on paying their creative people.
@ItalianScallion@phendrick that seems like a legit invention, a countertop device you fill with dry oatmeal and when you want some you press brew like a coffee maker and it pumps out a mixture of superheated steam and oatmeal that is instantly ready to eat.
Got a Polti steam mop years ago in an IRK. It gets regular use because it works well and leaves no residue. It turns out that very high temp water is a seriously good cleanser.
@accumulator I have that one but I hate how long it takes to recharge the heat, takes like 20sec each time… Then you mop a tiny area and it’s cold again. And other complaints about cleaning it, but the waiting is the one that kills it for me. The company seems high quality but idk if I would trust this one based on that experience (tbf that one didn’t claim to be continuous).
I did get the sharper image one they had recently, have not had time to use it yet though. But that is more for more targeted cleaning like grout, I expect it will work well for that.
It takes a ton of energy to constantly convert water into steam, even if preheated, so the flow rate seems like it will inevitability be a problem for cleaning large floors. You also have to deal with some water left behind, with rags or towels or whatever.
But the giant attraction of all these is that steam (actual, not just hot water) disinfects and cleans really well, gets into cracks that mopping won’t. If it just actually works to provide that flow rate and heat.
I’ve been tempted by earlier stick and canister steamers on here but didn’t like the reviews. I just ordered this Friday on Morningsave daily deal - I’m glad it was the same price as today’s Meh.
If you get one of these do yourself a favor and DO NOT use ANYTHING but distilled water in it.
My floor cleaner just died yesterday in the middle of doing the whole house. I had descaled in fairly regularly, but even then it always spit out tons of calcium. But now it’s dead. Heats up fully but can’t pass steam at all. Soaking it in descaler but but my hopes are low.
I got it in 2011 for $60 - just looked at the cost of a replacement - $340.00 Yay, capitalism!
I got a different steamer a while back. It cleans well but it is a hassle to use. I can’t be bothered for normal cleaning… For that I use the tried and true spinmop set off eBay from some random Chinese company. They keep getting better and better and I’m very happy with them.

This’ll clean that mile thick of sewage grime you get for using “AI”.
@DrunkCat Meh using AI for the images is kind of off putting. Make your own content. I don’t want my money going to a company that pads its profits by cheaping out on paying their creative people.
@DrunkCat /showme a drunk cat using a steam cleaner to clean glopp of AI generated images
@OnionSoup i like the part where it didn’t generate because it actually costs money to do so
@DrunkCat I must admit… It not generating gave me a big laugh given the context.
I suspect it may be the word “drunk” that is blocked.
@DrunkCat @OnionSoup
/showme a drunk cat using a steam cleaner to clean glopp of AI generated images
@DrunkCat @OnionSoup the “/“ command has to be at the start of a line
@OnionSoup @TimW Huh, i don’t see anything. Try it again.
Will i be able to make my oatmeal faster with this?
@phendrick Only if you spill it on the floor first.
/showme an electric steam cleaner making oatmeal
@phendrick I stand corrected.
@ItalianScallion @phendrick that seems like a legit invention, a countertop device you fill with dry oatmeal and when you want some you press brew like a coffee maker and it pumps out a mixture of superheated steam and oatmeal that is instantly ready to eat.
Brb making a gofundme…
@bobthenormal @ItalianScallion For added sales appeal, make sure your device can also steam clams and such.
/showme an electric steam cleaner being used to steam clams
@bobthenormal @ItalianScallion maybe attachments for corn, broccoli, pop corn?
@bobthenormal @ItalianScallion @phendrick I have used the sharper image steam mop to defrost a stuck ice maker. So include a fine flexible wand.
@bobthenormal @phendrick I’m not buying one unless it can make steamed hams.
@bobthenormal @ItalianScallion @phendrick

@bobthenormal @macromeh @phendrick
/showme Principal Skinner carrying a plate of steamed hams
@mediocrebot, I didn’t know you spoke the upstate New York regional dialect. Well done! (the image, not the steamed hams, I hope)
@ItalianScallion @mediocrebot Huh, there’s even a smoky haze coming from the back!
@Kyeh “O ye gods! My roast is ruined!”

If anyone is willing to trade, i have 3 & 1/2 dozen eggs. No low ballers, i know what i have and what it’s worth.
/showme anxious bidders at an auction for three and a half dozen eggs
/showme anxious bidders at an auction for three and a half dozen eggs
@seespotbark Tell me about it - we had to hire a 24/7 armed guard to watch our chicken coop. (At least he works for eggs.)
=
@macromeh @seespotbark Get a trained attack rooster. He’ll work for chicken feed.
