Poll: Where would you rather stay for two days
2I’m planning a trip and have two extra days in my itinerary. If you had two days to spend in:
Los Angeles
New Orleans
New York
Portland, Oregon
San Luis Obispo, California
or
Winslow, Arizona
Where would you stay and why?

I need more information. What is your drug of choice?

@eonfifty ok, San Luis Obispo then
For two days? New Orleans probably. It’s a nice weekend trip. LA/NY/CA you’ll want more time.
Note: If you go to New Orleans around this time hit up Preservation Hall or listen to some of the buskers the holiday jazz is great.
@Targaryen I would say it also depends on the time of year…NOLA is hot and humid in the summer…
Have you been to any of them before? Are you likely to return to any after this trip?
@becca I’ve been to Los Angeles and New York. I have no plans to visit any of these places beyond this trip.
@eonfifty haven’t been to SLO so that could be amazing but I’d say PDX. Easy enough to fit in Powell’s, Blue Star donuts, a stroll down Alberta, lots of stuff in a weekend. Check out Cascade if you’re into sours. Apex is a great beer bar and the adjacent Ladd’s Addition is an adorable residential neighborhood surrounding a rose garden.
A hotel. Because it’s more comfortable than the street.

Only stay in Winslow, AZ if you’re then heading up all the way to Tacoma, followed by Philadelphia, Atlanta, and then L.A.
But if you’re doing all that I have to ask you why your tour manager hates you.
@djslack Winslow, not Phoenix.

@eonfifty My bad. Take it easy.

@djslack @eonfifty This is not the ideal time to visit Winslow. There are some interesting things to see near Winslow, like Meteor Crater, the rock art ranch petroglyphs, ancient cliff dwellings (can’t recall the name). So if you’re a nature/outdoorsy type, you can sleigh a couple days there. But it’s a cold, miserable windswept plain in winter.
@ruouttaurmind But if you do go,
Portland,OR - food truck pods, Voodoo doughnuts, Japanese garden, Rose test garden, OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science & Industry with a visit to the USS Blueback submarine…we stayed near the MAX light rail and were able to take it everywhere. We were there for 2 days.
Never visited Winslow, AZ and other than standing on the corner I’m not sure what else there is to do.
@jksquared The corner is my only reason for going to Winslow.
New Orleans. Because it’s my favorite American city to visit.
I’ve only been to Portland but I love for New Orleans also.
New York has my vote. See Lady Liberty, go for a walk in Central Park, get free tickets for a talk show filmed there, try to see a Broadway show, and visit the Empire State building.
@dimechick24 THIS has my vote too…I’ve never been (yet I hope)…live vicariously for me…I can share my NOLA experience and you can have two for the price of one…
I’ve been to all those places but Winslow. I’d recommend against LA - hard to get around, and the density of things to do is low. New Orleans is the most unusual, so if you want a unique experience, that’s your best bet. NYC is expensive; there’s easily a month worth of great stuff to do there, but for two days you can do nearly as well elsewhere. Portland has a lot of character, and with all the food carts it can be super cheap to spend time there.
If you’re going to use public transit to get around:
New Orleans definitely. Who Dat!
