Wow, I got the "Something went terribly wrong" video! I haven't seen that in ages. Meh what did I tell you in the past about your hosting!!!???No excuses!
I once scored four touchdowns in a single game. This occurred during a state championship game, we were down by three touchdowns and the coach had made the decision to quit the game. I refused to allow this, and went on to score four touchdowns, the three to catch up, and the one for victory, winning the game for Polk High.
Grabbed these cans last time they were on. They're fine for the "meh" price (w/ VMP), but not for a penny more: they look pretty slick, but their sound is only average. The insanity of their "list" price ($180) is rivaled only by Apple's / Dr. Dre's crappy "Beats" headphones.
Also: only a few bucks less than Amazon? What gives, meh? For a second, I thought my browser accidentally landed on Woot...
Cheaper than last time Meh had the listed. @AwRy108,Thank you for your comment,AwRy108, as I think these look really sharp. I developed an 'allergy' to headphones. Anything except earbuds and little wrap-around ones and I'm in a whole world of pain.Yeah, laugh. I asked my Doctor what to do and she said "Don't wear headphones." My next step is to take in a picture of my headphones collection, and tell her something's got to be done.
@AwRy108 I bought them last time too. I am definitely disappointed by the sound. The Monster brand ones they sold around the same time definitely sound better to my ear. Monster, for god's sake.
Got these last time. Decent. Not Great. But for price not bad. Main complaint is the cord is short. But since cord is detachable maybe you could swap for longer one.
I love Polk, they were one of my favorite brands! They were a company of engineers who truely loved audio, founded by several smart passionate guys with a passion for great speakers. They were the Valentine One of home audio. I say they "were" because the company as I knew it doesn't exist anymore, at least in the original form, ever since they sold to their current owners...
@mehdaf Matthew Polk was a quiet little geek. Sold a lot of Polk Audio back in the 80's & 90's. A good friend of mine was their sales manager. Some Polk people went on and formed Definitive Technology. (Also bought out by DEI)
I am always tempted when they go on sale, but I have concerns. I already have a couple headphones from Meh, including the 808s. Do I really need these?
The iOS only volume controls are a definite strike against them.
@sjk3 they are decent, they fit my largish head.... while these are no TOCCS Manhattans (heh, that's a good thing) they do have a couple little issues ... they have this weird plastic pop noise when you put them on, like the diaphragms of the speakers are getting pressed by the air pressure when they seal around your ears... they sound pretty good, perhaps a bit bass-ish (but that seems to be popular these days).
These are no Audio-Technica or Sony MDR7506s' but for < 40 they are not that bad. They are decidedly not like normal meh headphones... but lets face it that's not a high bar heheh.
@sjk3 They're pretty much made for a child. That's how small they are. Not only that, mine have static in them and you have to wiggle the plug that goes into the actual headset to make it go away.
Bought some last time. The audio quality is good but the audio setup is kind of weird, you'll have to reconfigure your computer's surround speaker settings or game audio programmed to be behind the player will barely be audible. It also picks up weird feedback from the computer, I keep hearing buzzing when I tab out of a game. Also the cord is way too short.
I'd love to try these. Does anyone know where I can get an adaptor for the plug which goes from L/R/Mic to just L/R (plain stereo)? I don't want to use these with a phone. I've looked everywhere with no luck. Headphones like this don't work correctly when plugged into a stereo only jack.
@josephj11 I've been plugging mine (this model specifically) into all sorts of non-phone jacks and it works well. The volume buttons only work on the iPhone though.
@cutroil Thanks. That worked! (I originally tried to reply to all of these posts the next day, but replying to the emails doesn't work. Sorry it took so long to get back here.)
@danpritts That's great to know. I have gone through a lot of headphones just because the cords or plugs die. I haven't seen a detachable cord feature on anything even close to this price range.
I would still need an adaptor or a custom cord.
I tried to figure out how to make my own cable from parts. That turns out to be tricky. You can't use a cable with a shield/ground, because AFAIK, using standard connectors, it's grounded on the stereo end and connected to the mic on the 4-pin side.
It need not be a custom cable. The connection on the headphones themselves is just stereo. The microphone assembly is part of the cable.
However, I just looked at these yesterday and I was wrong. It is detachable, but the plug on the headphone side is 2.5mm, smaller than the standard 3.5mm headphone jack. Slightly harder to find but a simple amazon search shows several options.
BTW, don't fixate on these. I bought a pair of monster headphones here a while ago for even less. Those also had a detachable cord, and that cord is 3.5mm. They also sound better than the Polks, to my ears.
Bought these last time they came around, some of the best headphones I've ever had. Super comfy and surprisingly noise-cancely for the size of the ear parts.
@kmcless Wired headphones have higher audio quality than wireless ones, anyway. And you don't have to worry about charging their battery, or pairing them.
Hey Meh. You listed this at 45. Could you check if you still see it as 45? I see it for 51.89. I read an article that Amazon is being sued by prime members for jacking up their prices to compensate for money they lose in shipping and wanted to test if they are doing that to me.
"The Polk Hinges have perhaps the best build quality in this price range. The design details are lovely, like stitched leatherette over an aluminum headband, metal hinges, and a removable cable with three button iPhone remote. They’re really beautifully built, and the Hinges feel as though they are worth far more than the current $100 they’re going for. If they sounded as good as they look, we might have a different winner. But although the Hinges’ drivers sound as though they are quality, the voicing is off. They call it Polk Optimized Electro-acoustic Tuning (POET), and claims the sound of the Hinge is supposed to be “immersive.” What we heard was a bloated bass and a midrange that gave male vocals too much resonance at higher volumes, making them a bit muffled. The highs are nice, clear and clean, but everything supporting them in the lower frequencies is lackluster. Serious. Heartbreak." http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-on-ear-headphones-at-any-price/
I have to say, I love these headphones. They look really nice, and the price is right for the sound quality. Certainly not professional studio headphones, but good enough for tuning out your boss at work.
Just got mine today and they were broken in the box. Guess it's time to figure out how to deal with Polk warranty stuff. Bummer because I was looking forward to noise canceling some of my co-workers tomorrow.

Something went terribly wrong....
got these last time
feel nice on ear
@WilhelmScreamer If you're into that sort of thing.
A couple of months ago, Deal News brought me. Now, meh is trying to push me away.
A $6 discount to Amazon. So very meh. Maybe you should partner with Massdrop.
I once scored four touchdowns in a single game. This occurred during a state championship game, we were down by three touchdowns and the coach had made the decision to quit the game. @wew Sell them? :P
You call this a deal?
I'm waiting for the Polk Audio Hinge, literally a door hinge that streams your favorite music.
It's all about the Internet of Things now you guys, get with it! Disrupt the stodgy door hinge market!
Got these last time. Decent. Not Great. But for price not bad. Main complaint is the cord is short. But since cord is detachable maybe you could swap for longer one.
Day one, VMP status on hiatus. Not crying yet.
However, apparently my 5 bucks was funding the cloud server responsible for responsiveness.
@RedOak haha not just you, I think they must have spun up a few extra instances for the fukus... and have since killed them off. :)

But I won't say that, since I promised to be nice this month...

I am always tempted when they go on sale, but I have concerns. I already have a couple headphones from Meh, including the 808s. Do I really need these?
The iOS only volume controls are a definite strike against them.
Also, Do they fit comfortably on a large head?
@sjk3 they are decent, they fit my largish head.... while these are no TOCCS Manhattans (heh, that's a good thing) they do have a couple little issues ... they have this weird plastic pop noise when you put them on, like the diaphragms of the speakers are getting pressed by the air pressure when they seal around your ears...

@thismyusername I bought those SONYs not to long ago, and they are great. Feel slightly heavy on my head, but no problem wearing them for hours.
@sjk3 They're pretty much made for a child. That's how small they are. Not only that, mine have static in them and you have to wiggle the plug that goes into the actual headset to make it go away.
My husband and I have these. He has a fat...er, large head, these seem to fit well. He even bought a third pair to have at the office.
Bought some last time. Good for listening to music, bad for gaming.

@josephj11 This work? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0058DOWH6
@josephj11 I've been plugging mine (this model specifically) into all sorts of non-phone jacks and it works well. The volume buttons only work on the iPhone though.
@josephj11 The cord is detachable and can be replaced with the 3.5mm-3.5mm cord of your choice.
@josephj11 yea no issues using them without mic by plugging them directly into a headphone jack, if you need the mic then you need the adapter.
@cutroil Thanks. That worked! (I originally tried to reply to all of these posts the next day, but replying to the emails doesn't work. Sorry it took so long to get back here.)
@kgraves09 Missed the sale waiting for the adaptor I ordered. The adaptor was necessary to get my existing headphones with mic to work correctly.
@danpritts That's great to know. I have gone through a lot of headphones just because the cords or plugs die. I haven't seen a detachable cord feature on anything even close to this price range.

Q: Does the inclusion of a cord mean they are not wifi enabled?
@kmcless I think you mean Bluetooth enabled....
@kmcless no bluetooth, no wifi
@doubltap Thanks for the correction. I guess you forgot to answer the question.
@danpritts Thank you. :-)
@kmcless Wired headphones have higher audio quality than wireless ones, anyway. And you don't have to worry about charging their battery, or pairing them.
To hell with apple! When you start including some headphones that have controls for Android maybe I'll be interested.
@doubltap It's a pity Android phones didn't adopt Apple-compatible controls. Apple had them before the first Android phone came out, after all.

@zgranowitz That really fits with my feelings. The build quality IS tremendous, they just don't sound very good.
I have to say, I love these headphones. They look really nice, and the price is right for the sound quality. Certainly not professional studio headphones, but good enough for tuning out your boss at work.
