My brother has an interesting twist on this that I haven’t tried yet. Order a Papa Murphy’s Cowboy in the large size but ask for the family size toppings. Then put it in the smoker. I’m not sure of how long but he says it’s amazing. FYI…probably not keto.
Used my Baking Steel on my parents grill a couple of weeks ago to make them some pizza. Worked pretty well, a bit tougher to get the temperature set at first compared to an oven but the pizzas came out just as good after getting burners balanced correctly. Would definitely do it again.
@djslack I toyed with it for awhile, but only bit once the world was shutting down. Glad I picked it up, there are many things I can live without put pizza isn’t one of them! I had used a stone a few times going back but the crust never got that pizzeria marbling, with the steel tho it really does. Well worth the price to be able to eat real pizza and garlic knots when not ordering in any food because the world went crazy.
We like cooking Papa Murphy’s pizzas on the Traeger wood pellet grill. But I usually don’t think about it until it’s already in the oven and I don’t want the hassle of heating up the grill and moving it (and further delaying that first bite). So it’s a once-in-a-while treat.
Not just on the grill. On a really hot grill with a stone.
I have a Weber Jumbo Joe that gets a load of lump charcoal and a pizza stone on the grate. Vents all the way open, it’s probably 650-700 degrees when it’s really going.
Spread some cornmeal to prevent sticking. A pizza peel is a good tool to have. Pizzas are done in just a couple of minutes.
It could use more heat from the top to be optimal. Your crust will be well done on the bottom. A brick oven would be better, but this gets the job done pretty well.
Fuckin’ what?
This has had the audio altered so Alton kind of sounds like a squirrel.
To get the gist of grilled pizza, skip to 13:30
Never tried it.
How come no choice for “Gee, I’ve never had that”?

@Raider I haven’t decided to commit to a baking steel yet but it looks intriguing. If I found a deal on one I’d probably bite.

I had no idea this was a thing, and now I can’t live without it!
@TrophyHusband I was going to say that. Pretty sure I will be trying this week!
@TrophyHusband I’ve never heard of this either! Sounds fun!

I use my copper grill mat. As seen on TV.
Where is the choice for
“I don’t have a super high temp grill so I would never attempt this… But it’s probably good”
Never even heard of pizza on the grill…
How about bacon wrapped asparagus on the grill instead?
