Phantom 2 modification help required.
0I recently purchased a phantom 2 with zenmuse gimbal. (already have the camera) I have a couple of modifications I want to ask about. Please understand I am a drone newbie. But if I am all in, I am all in.
I would like to add FPV with minimal work (no soldering) and was considering this Black Pearl Flysight package:

I will also have to buy the HPV hub for $12.00 And was going to add the IOSD Mini - worth it?
I was going to also add 9450 thrust props because of the extra weight (already have the guards).
Anything more, less? Have I hit all the bases? Just looking for some input. Thanks.

What camera do you have? Have you bought the video out cable you will need?
Yes buy the IOSD.
Something else to look at is GroundControl w/ datalink. Allows you to program a flight plan and that way you can spend your time framing the shot with the fpv vs flying and trying to frame at the same time. <-- this is if you're into that sort of thing
The thrust props are just going to get you there quicker. You'll likely want to do something about battery time. As a 1.1.1 Phantom user I haven't looked at flight time comparison videos for the Phantom 2 with 9450 props, and haven't had enough dry weather to do good comparison tests myself but can tell that it will gain height faster with the 9450's especially over the stock 8443's that came with the 1.1.1.
Have fun with it and post us some video's. Don't worry about the crashes they're going to happen and we all need to see them and know why they happen so we can better each other ;)
@DJMajickMan I have a GoPro Hero 3 Silver. Can you post a link, and, or tell me something more about the GroundControl w/ datalink? And good question on the cable - I don't think so, unless it comes with the package I linked.
@mfladd DJI's product page for the DataLink package. On a P2 it SHOULD be pretty miuch plug-n-play, but you'll have to go inside the P2 fuselage to install the bits. http://www.dji.com/product/2-4g-bluetooth-datalink
@mfladd you'll need the cable. and that's going to require soldering. I still haven't worked mine out yet as it came from china with no instructions. Which is as good if not better then the usual broken english instructions they used to send. And I meant Ground station with datalink http://www.dji.com/product/2-4g-bluetooth-datalink you can use Windows or an iPad.
@DJMajickMan The package list above uses Fatshark/Immersion (FlySight FPV 5.8GHz 200mW Transmitter SMA 12v Camera Output & Rx SMA 32ch Fatshark, Immersion RC, and DJI Compatible (TX5802-RC306) - with my hero 3 shouldn't this work for a cable? http://www.readymaderc.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=74&products_id=1296
@ruouttaurmind @DKMajickMan thanks or the Datalink links and info. I think that would be a future upgrade for me.
@mfladd Might. I really don't have a lot of experience yet with it. Mine however has a lot more cables coming from it which has me confused and searching for documentation. So if yours works let me know and I'll be buying that to replace mine.
@DJMajickMan I will. I think based on the description it will fit the bill based on my future equipment. Who knows till I try :)
@ruouttaurmind If I have never flown a drone like this before is it better to fly it without the zenmuse gimbal first so as not to damage it with potential newbie crashes?
@mfladd PLEASE! LOL! Seriously... get used to the controls, the handling, the nuances of takeoff and landing... BEFORE you do this to your gimbal:
@ruouttaurmind Thank you for saving my gimbal!
