@ACraigL I don't think it is a thing anymore, at least I wasn't able to track it down last time I tried. Also made me realize what a huge freakin' mess their website is once you're doing anything beyond paying or receiving money. At least three different looks-and-feels, tons of broken links… this may be improved by now, but it sure didn't instill much confidence when I last hunted for the virtual card thingy.
I despise PayPal with a fiery passion. They are currently in the midst of trying the screw me over for $750 claiming that I took more money out of my account than I had in there. Show me where on PayPal you can deduct more money than you have available. Buncha poop heads.
@MEHcus I joined PayPal the day it launched. I had read about their story and it looked like the future. I was a big fan.
Then they locked my account one day in 2009 with no explanation. I can't delete my account until I send them whatever stupid shit they want. That was the last time I used PayPal except anonymously as a credit card processor. Occasionally I log into the account to see how it's doing. When their name is mentioned I spit on the ground twice and buy bitcoin.
Why do people want to pay with paypal anyway? What benefits do you get with that form of payment over using a simple credit card?
If you think you're more protected against fraud, that may not be true. You have dispute rights with a credit card and you are not responsible for any fraud that appears on your statements. Even if you were grossly negligent, you might be responsible for a maximum of $50 but I've never heard of a credit card company actually charging that fee (but it's usually in the credit agreements that they can charge it).
@cengland0 I use PayPal with one-off purchases when I don’t want the merchant to see my credit card number. My number has been stolen a handful of times and it’s inconvenient. Anything I can do to reduce the chances of that happening saves potential headache.
Pretty sure PayPal charges merchants more than when a customer uses a credit card directly. I also wouldn’t be surprised if they waited longer to make the money available to the merchant than most credit card processors.
@SSteve the idea that anyone ‘uses a credit card directly’ is pretty much a myth. As for the charges, it’s generally a wash. You’re probably costing your merchant more if you use AMEX or Discover than if they took PayPal. The delay issue is a valid one, but it’s also something that can be worked around. If Newegg can do it…
I use a Patpal Debit card some. 1% back or something. Which is not near as good as a real credit card, but I don’t like to use those for tiny expenses.
Draws from your bank account thru ACH unless your PayPal account has $.
@f00l I found the original thread just fine. Then @SSteve necro’d this one, probably in response to @jqubed laying into me for necroing the original one last night.
@Yoda_Daenerys CAH: As with most things, it’s way funnier if you’re drinking adult beverages (maybe to wee excess), and way easier to not be horrified.
Same reason you can't use your toenail clippings; because they don't accept it as a form of payment.
@medz But I pay my electric bill in toenail clippings.
@medz
@thismyusername is it bad that I know what this is from...
@rileyper naw... it's a modern classic it is...
Can't you generate a credit card number and use that here? Or is that not a PayPal thing anymore?

@brhfl it's not improved, and worse on mobile.
because meh isn't your Pal? i'd really like to know what you did to cause that.

@MEHcus so is the official answer because they're a buncha poop heads?
@Lotsofgoats A big ole bag of them in fact
a bag of poop heads? TAKE MY MONIES NOW PLS
@MEHcus Pal
@MEHcus Sounds like bank of america. i've known people charged overdraft charges 20x in one day for the same check when they had sufficient funds.
@Cerridwyn BOA is EVIL!!!!!! so is Wells Fart-go

I've wondered what the real reason is. I have often wished I could pay with paypal. I think I'd spend more if I could use paypal. Go figure

@cengland0 I use it so the end merchant never sees my credit card. Used it since it was new, never had an issue

@SSteve That’s why you need a credit card that has 1-time numbers. Discover used to have it, now it’s a Bank of America thing and some Citi cards.
Because reasons. Obviously
Because PayPal sucks balls, but in a bad way.
Use this: https://www.paypal.com/bm/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/account/DCIntro-outside

@f00l I have one as discussed in the other thread.
And this is exactly why starting multiple threads on the same topic is stupid @jqubed.
@jbartus
Well if they had a real search instead of the kinda search google gives them .,
Or if they paginated thread the lists so one could scroll they the old stuff …
@f00l I found the original thread just fine. Then @SSteve necro’d this one, probably in response to @jqubed laying into me for necroing the original one last night.
@jbartus
Yeah but are you lazy like me. Huh. Are you. Please note I’m too lazy to type an actual question mark even for rhetorical reasons. Huh.
@f00l selectively.
@jbartus @f00l i played CAH with the extended family @ thanksgiving this year.
i learned what necro… means that night.
it was used in a two phrase play, and had to do with oral sex and no reciprocation.
it was funnier at the time, trust me.
@Yoda_Daenerys @f00l
I’ve seen several people say that they learned certain things through CASH. Of course, not all of the things were PG content, so…
@Yoda_Daenerys CAH: As with most things, it’s way funnier if you’re drinking adult beverages (maybe to wee excess), and way easier to not be horrified.
@compunaut maybe we should organize a Meh CAH game online.
@jbartus what am i
/giphy chopped liver
@Yoda_Daenerys you’re invited of course!
@jbartus oh, i feel better now.
perhaps it could happen via slack?
@Yoda_Daenerys there’s an online site for it, replete with chat and all.
@jbartus srsly?
what is it?
i found this:
CAH test lab
