Pasta Thoughts and PB-crapism
3I had a thought today, after my PD victim said that they got a notice that more boxes were coming. I am thinking that each time the tracking showed a scan in the terminal PB location, that’s a box/shipment.
What do others think?
And at what point do we glare at CS that PB ate the PD?

CS?
Ahhh… Customer service!
Well there’s not much they can do to make PB deliver our PD any quicker.
Sure… The company could use a different shipping company (FedEx, USPS, and OoPS don’t seem to be impacted by virus as bad) but I’m sure Meh is sitting patiently thinking “the virus has to go away eventually and things go back to normal”.
I’d love faster shipping, in fact I’ve decided against making a few purchases because of the slow shipping… If they can give me faster shipping without charging more, they should.
That said, I’m a cheapskate, I think many of us are, that’s why we’re here every day.
Personally, I’m not willing to pay more to get my fast shipping. So don’t switch to FedEx if you’re going to bump the charge up from $5 a month to $10 a month. I’d rather slow shipping than expensive shipping.
Tldr; give me faster shipping if you can, but I don’t want to pay for it.
@OnionSoup
i’d pay more but then I’m VMP, so I already do

Don’t think they sell enough to make 2 tiers.
But for those who got their pasta at more than one drop for the same order, did you have a scan for each ‘drop’?
@Cerridwyn There is a tracking number for each box (20 pounds) in the drop, if that is what you are asking.
@Barney @Cerridwyn I wound up with 100lbs of linguine. I had one tracking number. It also showed up on two different days. I was already overwhelmed with 80lbs and then another 20 showed up the next day.
@Cerridwyn @RiotDemon I guess I should add, that you will receive only one tracking number from Meh. To find out if there are any additional tracking numbers you need to go to usps informed delivery and look for them. It used to be that you could then look up your tracking numbers and verify their weight (pasta boxes are around 22 lbs) to make sure that they really are from a Pasta drop. However, PB is not posting weights right now.
In other words, if you go to usps and see a fucking number of mediocre tracking that you don’t recognize, chances are you’ve got a whole lot of pasta coming.
@Barney @Cerridwyn I got rid of the USPS informed delivery. Too much anxiety to see all the envelopes.
@Cerridwyn @RiotDemon You gotta pay those bills sometime, RD.
@Barney @Cerridwyn @RiotDemon My dad regularly tells us what mail will be coming tomorrow. It makes me feel like he’s the old man who sits on the front porch, patrolling the neighborhood for roughians and rascals
@Barney @Bretterson @Cerridwyn @RiotDemon
What about the hooligans? And those kids hopped up on goofballs?
@OnionSoup The problem isn’t just that it’s slow. Slow, with some kind of consistency we could deal with. Over a month with random weird tracking, and later packages delivered first, starts to go too far.
I’ve still got 2 packages from last month’s mehrathon in limbo, one hasn’t been scanned in 25 days, and a penne order that was last scanned in grapevine 20 days ago.
The spaghettini that I sent to my brother was supposedly handed off to USPS 10 days ago. USPS says they don’t have it.
I contacted support. Got a generic message to wait longer.
29 days it’s been in transit.
Pastadrop is now done and he hasn’t even gotten his pasta from the first drop.
@RiotDemon
Pastadrop is over? somehow I missed that. what’s going on there?
@RiotDemon Don’t worry, when the box arrives smashed and pasta bag opened you will get a generic “sorry” and that will be that.
@f00l this was the last week. It’s sold out.
@Raider yeah… That sucked.
@RiotDemon
: (
Fun for a while tho, eh?
Order humongous amounts of pasta no-one could ever want.
Maybe get coupons.
Watch your package order not get delivered but get tracked to every known location data point in the universe instead.
Then get way more pasta that you expected.
Then … watch the site and offers die away.
Ok.
: )
@f00l the great thing was, I told my brother I was going to send him something and asked whether I should send it to his work or his house. He said to send it to his house since his girlfriend wasn’t going to school or work due to the pandemic. Now she’s back to work and school and pasta still isn’t there. If I knew it was going to miss the original delivery date by several weeks, I would of sent it to his work where it won’t get stolen. So now I’m hoping it actually shows up, eventually.
@f00l @RiotDemon The spaghettini I sent just arrived today, so there’s hope.
@RiotDemon At least yours pretended to ship. I ordered penne on May 18th. Still processing.
I’m hoping they saw I was sending to a church’s food pantry and are giving them 100s o’ lbs of whatever’s left. But it’s probably an oversight. Meh.
EDIT: Ha, I lied. The page says Processing, but the tracking number says Delivered.
Go figure.
Mine (the penne) finally showed up in Boston last week. I only saw a 20# package listed in the shipping detail, but my son ended up with 100# when it was all over with!
YMMV.
My linguine is magic! It can be in Indiana at 9am, Michigan at 10:12am, and back in Indiana at 10:30am. That’s one slick nood!

I was bragging on another thread how quick my PB packages were moving. Two days after shipping they had already made it to an Easy Coast facility… Things were a-changin’, there was a new PB sheriff in town. My victim was going to get her package in record time.
… Nah. No update on the package in 5 days since then. It’s not going anywhere… Just hanging out in Georgia instead of Texas. Guess my pasta prefers peaches to baked beans.
Hmmm… Which is better baked beans and pasta or peaches and pasta?
My daughter in Austin received her 40 lbs of spaghetti the day after I received the ship notification. They must ship the noods from Austin.
My unknown quantity of penne hasn’t escaped Grapevine, TX since the 4th.
